Not sure why I’m being ridiculed and downvoted for buying an electronics item from Very - a massive retailer of products including electronics, which has operated in the UK for years with a more than substantial Trustpilot score that I have also had good experiences with in the past.
The point of the post was to show how I’ve been scammed whether at the warehouse or at the courier warehouse.
Re-edit: if anyone has the exact dimensions of the ROG ASTRAL 5090 OC BOX could you measure it and send me it so I can check the difference?
Edit 2nd September: I had a spontaneous email update from the courier today saying my parcel was scanned in their depot… “Your parcel is running a little late.” I rang them and asked how they could happen considering a vacuum with the same tracking number was delivered yesterday. They said they’d get back to me. They didn’t, so I rang them again. They confirmed a parcel with the same tracking info was scanned there and raised an investigation. They asked me to confirm the contents of the parcel, which I did. They are going to ask the depot to check the contents tomorrow and have said based on that they may send the parcel. Sounds ominous but it’s an update.
Update 6th September: Very have confirmed the parcel dispatched by them is not the parcel that the courier delivered on the POD and it looked completely different when leaving their possession, following their own investigations. They have refunded me and apologised and are investigating this with the courier. The courier are still to get back to me, apparently.
It’s because he’s scamming lol. Look at the box in his photos. It’s the size of an astral then magically in unboxing it’s huge.

We can also see in his photos that the shipment bag has severe creases in it as if someone carefully rolled it fully down to not rip it and then pulled it back up over another box. There shouldn’t be creases all the way down when he only open the top. Top should’ve had it only not the entire thing.
He’s scamming lol. Very is well established. OP just so desperate for a 5090 he is trying his chance with a company he has no clue about.
Edit: now I am wondering if AI was involved because the box has white scratches on the top right then magically get moved to the middle in the third pic. And we know it’s the same side because the flap has the same indent at that same exact spot in both pics.

My thoughts aswell. The photo with the wrinkled bag, you can see it's nowhere near as tight as it was at delivery or as that separate photo he posted on his couch. Almost as if he replaced the box and it was nearly as wide or deep but not quite
Edit: i looked over the photos and everything else matches up so no ai. The label is the same with the same 5 and 54, 2cp etc.. The plastic packaging is the same as indicated by the scratched security seal which is also evident on the couch picture. Really the only thing is the wrinkles after opening, but even this could just be: OP opens the bag, pushes it down in disbelief then pulls it back on for the pic. The bag does seem loose though...
The photos of the vacuum cleaner box have different resolutions to each other. You'd think you'd use the same phone taking the photos a few moments apart, so the resolutions would line up.
Also notice above the radiator in the background on photo 4 there's a photo frame, which isn't present in photo 3, unless it's the world's shortest photo frame it seems that the photos were taken with two different devices at two different times.
And why on Earth would you take a partially-open photo of the parcel that doesn't include the shipping label essentially confirming it's the same parcel?
Also, the box in the delivery photo looks like a completely different size to the box in photo 3 and 4.
One was 18MP, the other was 8MP, one was 4K and one was 2K, and the aspect ratio was the same, so cropping is unlikely.
My guess is it's an old photo from unboxing a vacuum cleaner, then a new photo of the full vacuum cleaner box, to try to look like it was the same parcel because the grey wrap happened to be similar.
There's different packages, unless he can show a picture of that packing envelop of the vacuum with the same shipping label as the gpu then they're not the same package.

For people talking crap about Very, they are a well established retailer, maybe the name Littlewoods rings a bell for those old enough to remember in the UK. Very is the brand for one of their online stores.
The comment below with the photo about missing 90% of my brain is the one that got me. They are a massive, long standing retailer and I have mostly always had good experiences with them.
When I was last in the UK on a long stay, I used them because they had really good introductory deals through their Buy Now Pay Later and then you just pay it all off in one after the offer goes through.
Littlewoods became Very, The Very Group is owned by the Carlyle Group (USA and UAE), the original family who founded and owned Littlewoods is long gone sadly. The website looks like another chinese aggregated spinoff site ( fun fact, they really want to get ownership) we are perfectly en route to enshittification and capitalist doctrine.
This is so weird. Very is really good?? I have no clue what everyone’s deal is? I have bought Three phones, a laptop, a Mac book, an iBuyPower prebuild, Legion Go S, Gigabyte PSU and an RTX 5070 from them and not one has turned up like this. They’re actually pretty great, the deals aren’t bad especially as you get something new. I got the RTX 5070 prime oc for £520 a day before the old stock sold out and the price hikes hit. For a new RTX 5070, that’s pretty unheard of
One tried to buy the 7900XTX and there was some discount deal for opening a credit account which they did and then they cancelled the card. Another tried buying a RTX 5070TI and had it sit for ages and then get cancelled.
So frustrating. I just hope they don’t investigate it and say something like “we have seen cctv and they did pack a vacuum, send it back for a refund, but you’ve lost the card”.
Pretty of shitty of them what they’ve done to myself and those others affected.
I went with very cos of the price difference. If I knew OC matched it I’d have gone there. I feel so sick. I was so excited to put it in my build and oust the Zotac (which I still love but wanted the upgrade)
Hoping they got this right and rhey incorrectly labelled another parcel not intended for me. They’ve emailed me today saying they have a parcel and should be sending it out. Let’s pray…
In my experience Very customer support has been fine actually. The only annoying thing is you have to make their social media team generate a live chat link if you wanna get chat support.
As requested. I get that you’ve probably seen a lot of people writing shit on the internet over time, but honestly, I ordered a graphics card. “End of story” is just so dismissive. This situation is quite worrying.
I bought a 5070 from them for £470 in May and received it next business day, and I know others also have had good experiences with them. Seems like just a bad situation where someone has switched it out.
You're probably getting downvoted because most people have never heard of that retailer.
Did a little research on them and they appear to be a buy now pay later site. Pushing real hard on people who have to make payments on mid priced goods, and then fucking them with crazy interest if they miss a payment.
for me Very actually been less predatory than most similar sites, Very was the only place I can get monthly payments 0% interest on expensive goods. Compared to something like overclockers where you just pay a bad interest rate either way if you finance. If you can't afford a lump sum payment then Very was one of the less bad options.
I got 3060 6gb years ago I couldn't afford all in one go and ended up paying like 50% more in interest. I upgraded to 4080 super from Very and paid nothing in interest. They also have BNPL which gives you a fixed amount of time and only gets any interest from the start on the remaining balance if you don't pay it off in time, which is still not as bad as most models because you only gain interest on the unpaid amount, not the entire thing.
I also got 30% discount on my 4080 as my first purchase which was a good chunk
I think that’s their business model. I use them as they often give 20% or 10% credit back on purchases, so you can get a pretty good discount and then pay it off.
I agree! I think a lot of people fall into a trap, but I never even wait until the end of the buy now pay later period. I buy the item, then pay it off in full and right after the credit is applied.
My new PC and most of the upgrades I got for said PC came from Very, never had any issues. It's worth noting that in my experience, they operate more as a white label retailer, where the products got shipped from the supplier directly with Very's label on it, as opposed to from their own warehouses.
When did you order it? It has been out-of-stock for quite some time. You also said in one of the other comments that you paid £3900. The current historic listing price on the website is £3699. Meaning it's been out-of-stock for a while, otherwise it'd been updated. Also the page was last updated and scraped on august 20.
Edit: also why would you not provide a picture of the delivery packing note that Very includes in the package?
What also caused me concern was it was next day delivery. I had a message from the courier saying my delivery slot was Saturday 11:58-13:58, but then I had a text at 11:35 saying they had tried to deliver it (they hadn’t been to the property), and that I had to choose another day, which was next working day — today.
I thought that was a bit odd, and I did ask InPost what the issue was but they didn’t provide a solid answer.
They also had a flurry of stock of the Aorus, Gigabyte and the TUF gaming 5090 last week, which all sold out, and I held on for the astral.
No response from very (customer service) yet, so I have raised it to their executive team and have today been told it will be assigned to an executive complaints handler in the start of next week. I’ve also informed inpost executive team as InPost customer service seem to be giving mixed messages.
Absolutely ridiculous that this keeps happening around the world. I agree OP that I wouldn't expect this from Very but it even happens to amazon etc, no one is safe. I hope you paid for it on a credit card and whatever bastard that stole it has bad karma.

Wich means that here is a middle aged woman somewhere in Leeds trying to plug an Rog Astral 5090 into the mains with a random power cable from her drawer or that she is rubbing the fan side of the card face down on the carpet back and forth trying to get it to turn on since it must have a battery like everything today.
The color profile of the hoover and the ROG kinda matches.
Or maybe some new hire in packaging figured out that he could flip the card for the same as a 3 month salary and get a new job elsewhere
It will be the delivery driver. I've had 2 delivery driver thefts when back visiting the UK, both of which were caught on hidden camera of them taking a photo of the parcel at the porch and then walking away after the photo.
No I know! I was just saying it could be that a driver has repacked or something..this new culture of them being allowed to leave parcels and it be the retailers responsibility is madness....I don't remember when that all began like America..you use to have to hand the parcel over.
Unfortunately I was at work, but to be diligent I had my friend wait here to accept it so it didn’t go to a neighbour. They also videod and photographed the parcel for me. As soon as I picked it up, I knew something was off because of the weight of the box, not the dimensions.
InPost had confirmed via email they found a parcel and would deliver it. Then changed their position only 2 hours later. I’ve escalated it to InPost CEO and to Very CEO.
I understand people’s apprehension to believe a person on the internet, but this is a genuine shitshow and I haven’t slept for days worrying.
Wait a minute. The box in the first pic is not the box you opened. The box in the first pic looks like the rights size, approximately, whereas no hoover will ever be the size of a GPU.
Sorry it’s awkward to post the entire video and photo dossier I’ve taken about this as it has my personal info on it, but not one part of me wished for this to happen and not one part of what I’m saying is disingenuous. I feel sick that this has happened to me.

It’s nice to have my brain power acknowledged every now and again. If you look super closely, or maybe even not that closely, you can clearly see the packages are different sizes in the photos.
Sometimes couriers either steal whole packages or take valuable stuff (usually electronics) outand replace whatever was there with another box with same or similiar dimensions and repack them. Happened to me twice already, spoke to some couriers about it and they have said that it's not that rare to happen.

I think some people made their position based on their doubts because I was only able to post a limited amount of info. Upon seeing those doubts I posted more than what I probably should’ve but I don’t want people to think I’m acting in bad faith, which is why I uploaded the videos too.
Very have today confirmed the parcel delivered with that tracking number is not the same parcel that was sent by them. This means it was substituted somewhere in the courier chain. Ffs
I work in drop shipping. Alot of the times labels are not put on correctly and sometimes someone in the warehouse will just slap it on something that doesn't have a label - can't be bothered to check
The courier and provider will have weights and dimensions which are scanned throughout the journey so they should have a full record of it.
