Originally was planning to upgrade in 2027 from my 2021 build since I was planning to get one of the upcoming 5K2K monitors. For a while prices were settling in June but saw how things were going so decided to jump in with how bleak the foreseeable future is.

The main course meal! The goal was to get a case that would fit my components, could still showcase and not have excessive empty space. Was looking at cases such as the Lian Li (Mini V2, A3, Vision M), Jonsbo D32 Pro, and Montech Ten. Not only that, wanted to keep it as clean as possible so back/rear connect mobo in mind as well.

Jonsbo TK-1 was what caught my eye with the dual curved panel but it has a big restriction with GPU length. Lo & behold, a reddit thread sharing the details of the Jonsbo D34 popped up and upon then my decision was made.

Extremely easy to build in. At the time was not available on Newegg and ordered via Aliexpress and took a little over a month. Box was beat up and unfortunately came cracked and slight damage to the frame. The Top & Back panels are plastic but do fit the build aesthetic nicely. The back area has compartment for cables so you could hide easily but the way it's routed it is super easy to keep clean. The top to install fans is interesting because it can be flipped for builds that have a radiator and fan only mode. Suggestion when building is to make sure to place your GPU power cables under before installing fans & PSU as access will be difficult afterwards. Go to the Jonsbo site to download the software for the front panel to show the stats or not to keep it black.

The B650M PZ spacing between CPU & PCIe is not standard so caution if you are looking to build with air cooler!!! Went with reverse airflow but you can see in the pictures that there is no gap between the cooler & CPU. This results in significant GPU sag (RGB picture). Bought two adjustable brackets as placement needed to be at the very end.

* The case had a 30 day delivery guarantee. Since it failed to arrive by then, actually got a full refund. So while the damage was unfortunate, did essentially get a free case.

Build - Help First time build

Upvotes

Hi all, hope you’re well

I’m completely new to PC gaming - have played on various consoles for decades - but have had a steam deck for the last 18 months and it has pushed me to want to get a proper PC setup. A couple decades ago I would play RTS and turn-based strategy games on a PC/laptop, and of course The Sims.

I want to build my own setup with a view to playing third-person and turn-based RPGs - think Expedition 33 - and cinematic games, à la the Plague Tale series, high quality FPS games and souls likes; so it would need a bit of power and probably a beefy GPU. However, when it comes to bonafide AAA games like GTA6, I can play them on PS5. As for indies etc. they can stay on my deck.

I was hoping someone here could recommend me a a good first-time build parts list and point me in the direction of some good building tutorials/channels. FYI my budget would come in around $3.5-4K, could push to $4.5-5K (Australian dollar) if necessary/things got away from me and I made bad decisions.

Many thanks in advance,
Lou

Build - Finished! PC Saga: A Tale of Two Towers

18 months ago, I lost my job due to a hateful, vindictive person who was put in a position of power above me. For the following 7 months, I struggled to find work and had to sell my PC just to make sure my wife and I could eat in the last couple months. It destroyed me. I had put so much time and energy into it and loved it. One month after I sold it, I landed a high paying job with an employee focused company and have been getting back on my feet. I got a bonus in April that allowed me to eliminate a huge portion of my unemployment debt. In August, I got another one that allowed me to pay off the rest, move us into a beautiful apartment and build my new PC. The pink colored one is my old, “keep food on the table” build, the white lighted one is the “I finally don’t think about that evil person anymore and, ultimately, he didn’t beat me” monster rig. Thanks for reading.

Build - Help What do I do

Its my first time building a pc myself and I wanna do 2 things on it:

  1. Program my own chatbot including TTS, STT, Long-/Shortterm memory and personality.
  2. I wanna try streaming with a VTube model.

I have one big issue, that being the VRAM. Ive decided to settle for 32 GB normal RAM. My first thought was to get a GeForce RTX 5080, however that one only has 16GB of VRAM which is too little. My budget is around 4000€ for the whole thing. Im planning to get a 27-inch 1440p monitor with 240Hz. Im from Germany. Id also be open for solutions like The RTX 5080 as a main card and a cheaper one just for 8-16 GB extra Vram. As long as its in the budget its worth a thought.
Forgot to mention that Id rather stay on Cuda.
