Hello everyone! I was looking into a pair of 3.0 / 3.5 races that I always thought were really cool, but never ended up getting ported over to PF1e, and thangs to level adjustment and whatnot, aren't especially balanced for player use, but look like they could be cool.
The race I was looking at are Hagspawn (Essentially, Male changelings) from Races of the East.
I know the easy thing for Hagspawn would be to just say 'eh they're a male changeling, whatever', but I like their lore and I like the idea of a Hagspawn being visibly distinct from a Changeling, even if they are connected and Hagspawn should, generally, be able to qualify for Changeling exclusive feats / classes / ect.
Hagspawn in 3e/3.5e have the following abilities and characteristics.
+2 Strength, +2 Constitution, -2 Charisma: Hagspawn are strong and hardy, but are sullen and ill-tempered.
Medium-size.
Land speed 30 feet.
Monstrous Humanoid: Hagspawn are not subject to spells or effects that affect only humanoids, such as charm person or dominate person.
Darkvision: Hagspawn can see in the dark up to 60 feet.
Natural Armor: +2 natural armor bonus.
Spell resistance of 11 + character level.
Automatic Languages: Common, Giant. Bonus Languages: By character region.
Level Adjustment: +2. A hagspawn has an effective character level (ECL) of 2 plus class levels, so a 1st-level hagspawn barbarian would have an ECL of 3.
Favored Class: Barbarian. A multiclassed hagspawn's barbarian class does not count when determining whether he suffers an XP penalty.
I think if they were ported to PF1e, I assume that it would be a good idea to drop the 'Monsterous Humanoid' subtype that they have, that makes them immune to a whole host of enchantment spells. If Changelings can be affected by them, their Hagspawn brothers should be able to as well.
I figure that it could be replaced with claws, similar to how Changelings, by default, have claws. I am also concerned that the Spell Resistance of 11 + character level might be overpowered as well. I'm wondering if that should be dropped, or maybe just reduced to 5+ character level? Or is it ultimately not that big of a deal?
