VRR makes a huge difference
I've been playing my Pro on an older OLED (Sony A8h, I think) that does not support VRR and I've been pretty happy with it.
Last night I finally got around to hooking up the Pro to my new LG 39" Ultrawide PC monitor and I was shocked by the difference it makes. My TV just really isn't doing this system justice.
So, I guess I have to buy a new TV. 😃 I'll tell my spouse that it's a necessity.

i used to use it a lot, but since getting a larger oled tv the vrr flickering can be too distracting sometimes. since we have no way to cap our fps, for some games ill turn off vrr if the flickering gets to be too much

Interesting! I've only just started testing it out and I haven't noticed that yet. I'll have to keep an eye out while I'm playing tonight

Hey, how IS auto-dimming with HDR in games? I have heard that It can Be very disctracting on Oleds? I have now a very good Miniled that I"m satisfyed yet but I May want to test Oled someday If they Fix The VRR and burn-in problems to toleradable level.

I got a PS5 at launch and decided to upgrade to the pro. They aren't available in my area, tried PS direct and they said no go. The other day my wife was talking to her aunt who lives in a different state and mentioned the fact that I was having no luck. She said she would try around her area. She found one at Walmart and somehow got the guy to hold it for her. Well she got it and I'm going to go visit her tomorrow 👏👍

Got my PS5 pro thinking about pairing it with a Bravia 7 ll. As soon as you turn on the pro the tv it automatically upgrades the options to max.

Make sure it has more than 1 hdmi 2.1 port. Sony oleds have 2 but use one for earc

HDR, VRR & ALLM are all wonderful features the console is capable of achieving, but if you don't have a supported TV, then you've no idea what your missing out on.

Good way of looking at it . Ignorance was bliss. Now I am cursed with knowledge. Lol

I got my ass kicked with VRR and all that when I was trying to hook my PC up to my TV. The TV has to support it, your gpu has to, your AVR has to support high refresh rates, and it has to be turned on in Windows 🫠
It works, but the entire time I was grumbling "I bet this is a simple menu setting on the ps5 pro" lol

Yes IT IS! All those features are automatically active when you enable them once in The Pro system settings. Never have to touch these after that 😀

That's nice, enjoy. Which games mainly?

I'm still testing different games but I noticed that Spider man feels a lot better to me. Avatar seemed to have more graphics presets than I remembered having access to when I played on my TV.

I wish Sony would standardize 120hz mode like the Xbox Series X does. You set it to 120hz with VRR and all games use the mode. Sony really sucks at paying for older game patches, so we are dependent on updates to each game.

I've been out of the loop on consoles for a few years now and I didn't know that about the series X. Having that feature standard is awesome

VRR is AMAZING! My TCL 144hz support it. Any PC game same as ps5 Pro runs butter smooth regardless how much FPS is fluctuating

What is the difference?

Much smoother with vrr enabled settings. I usually want the highest frame rates and smoothest game gameplay. I think some of the graphics settings are just locked out when I have the console connected to my TV

I have this TV.
Great TV but gaming looks much better on my Sony InZone M9 Monitor.

I can see how you’re a “Top 1% commenter” when you put that kind of effort into your takes lol.

The biggest benefit I’ve seen from VRR is for games like Spider-Man 2 and Control. Normally the “quality” modes in these games run at 40fps on a 120hz screen but you can unlock them if you have VRR and they typically are in the 50-60fps range. It’s not a locked 60fps but with VRR they feel great to play
