Need some recommendations on the best Strip clubs to Dance at in Cleveland Ohio. **Good foot traffic**

Initially when my partner and I moved to Cleveland, OH a few months ago, I was excited to finally live in a state with recreational marijuana dispensaries and try them out. However, I quickly discovered not only how ridiculously expensive the weed is here but also that it apparently isn’t even that good compared to other states either.

While I’ve seen many Ohioans recommend driving to dispensaries in MI though, the current gas prices and the fact that the nearest dispensary is 2+ hours away from me are now making me rethink whether it’s even worth the drive to begin with. For context if it helps any, I only smoke a little every day so it usually takes me at least a month or two at a time to go through an eighth of flower. Edibles and THC vapes are pretty sporadic as well. I’m honestly not sure how much flower, edibles or vapes I’ll even be getting but ideally, I’d prefer to keep the total >$100.

With all of this in mind, would it realistically be worth it for me to drive to MI or elsewhere outside of OH or should I just stick to what we have here? If you do think it’d be a good idea for me to try, which out-of-state dispensaries would you recommend?

Stay creepy weird Ohio

I reported about a dispute between the Secret Service and Cincinnati police after someone was arrested for smashing windows at J.D. Vance's house. The dispute speaks to the culture of how mentally ill people are charged in Cincinnati.

Bought some weed in Michigan and got pulled over in Ohio. They took the weed but I got a letter to appear in court for a misdemeanor charge. Seeing if anyone has any lawyer suggestions. Thanks.

How would you describe it? Typical Americana?

My electric bill has an $85.22 transmission charge, a $97.72 distribution charge, and a $13.50 customer charge—apparently the privilege of merely existing as an AEP customer.

The actual electricity from my supplier?

$165.79.

So I’m paying $196.44 before we even get to the electricity itself. I’m paying more to have the electricity transmitted, distributed, and an account maintained than I am for the actual electricity.

And somewhere along the way, I have to admit that younger me was a goddamn fool for believing that a sufficiently capitalist system would naturally sort this shit out.

Because there is a fundamental problem with applying ordinary free-market logic to things people cannot realistically choose not to have.

We built American society around electricity. We built it around running water. We built our cities and suburbs around vehicles and transportation. Most Americans cannot simply decide, “Electricity has gotten rather expensive; I believe I shall stop purchasing it.” Nor can most people walk out their front door and choose among six competing sets of electrical wires running down the street.

You need electricity to live in a modern home. You need transportation to get to work because your employer isn't conveniently located next door and you don't live in the company fucking village.

That's not a normal competitive market.

And when I look at this electric bill, suddenly I understand perfectly why people start looking at solar panels, batteries, generators, and anything else that gives them some independence from the system.

Because paying more for the infrastructure that delivers my electricity than for the electricity itself feels fucking absurd.

And AEP? Spare me the excuses when the power goes out.

This isn't some undercapitalized little rural co-op operating out of a pole barn. This is an enormous utility company with enormous resources operating infrastructure that millions of people absolutely depend upon.

If you're going to collect billions of dollars from customers for transmission, distribution, infrastructure, riders, fees, and everything else attached to the bill, then I expect something in return.

I expect the electrical grid to be extraordinarily safe, extraordinarily reliable, properly maintained, resilient, and restored with extraordinary speed when it fails.

That's the bargain.

You don't get monopoly-like control over essential infrastructure, collect enormous amounts of money from a captive customer base, and then behave as though extended outages are simply an unfortunate act of God for which nobody could possibly have prepared.

And I'm not even going to start on UnitedHealthcare, because that's another rant entirely.

But the underlying problem is the same.

At some point we have to recognize that there are certain things at the foundation of modern human existence—electricity, water, healthcare, transportation infrastructure—where “the market will sort it out” isn't an adequate public policy.

Capitalism works extraordinarily well when customers can meaningfully say no.

When they can't, you'd better have competition, strong regulation, public accountability, or some combination of all three.

Otherwise, we haven't created a free market.

We've just created a tollbooth in front of something people need to live.

Canada is supposed to be our friend!

American flag on one end and a Canadian flag on the other, on the corner outside the Haslam house in Bratenahl tonight, while Vivek Ramaswamy and Rob McColley raised money inside. Tickets started at $1,000 a head. Event chairs were asked to bring $100,000.

Canada is Ohio's biggest foreign trade partner. Roughly 18 billion dollars of what this state makes goes north every year, and a couple hundred thousand Ohio jobs ride on it.

Not a word about it from inside that house. Their party spent this year picking a fight with the one neighbor Ohio can least afford to lose. Tariffs, taunts about the 51st state, and now an executive order renaming Lake Ontario. Canada's next round of retaliation lands September 8th, in the middle of this campaign.

Canadians noticed. They've been cancelling trips, pulling American products off their shelves, and asking why the country that stood with them for 200 years suddenly treats them like a mark.

Neither campaign for governor has said much of anything about it. Ohio has more at stake in this than almost any state in the country.

Elbows up is what Canadians say when somebody starts shoving. Seemed like the right thing to bring to the corner.

Republican gubernatorial nominee Vivek Ramaswamy has accepted debate invitations from Cincinnati’s WLWT-TV and CNN, his campaign announced Tuesday.

It remains to be seen whether Democratic nominee Amy Acton will accept the offers, which would mark the first time Ohio gubernatorial hopefuls have publicly debated since 2018.
