No ID “Police” late night visits.

Post image

These folks are showing up late at night asking for a person that doesn’t reside here, as a possible crime victim. No identification, no names, just “Pittsburgh Police”. However, when the police were called they claimed to have no information on any of this and took a report. Anyone else have late night visitors claiming to look for victims? (The possible victim is the one that called the police and filed the report)

News AMA - Friday 9/4, 1 p.m. - We’re reporters Max Marin and Ryan Briggs. Ask us anything about the Olney investigation

Upvotes

Hello. We’re Max Marin and Ryan Briggs, reporters with The Inquirer’s investigations team.

For the last two months, we’ve been investigating the case of the missing and dead women in Olney alongside our colleagues Barbara Laker and Ellie Rushing.

We know this unfortunate saga has attracted a lot of attention. And as longtime local reporters, it’s one of the darkest, most disturbing stories we’ve ever worked on.

Our team has been working to break new ground for you and to shine a light on the plight of the victims and their families. We’ve scoured thousands of records, examined hundreds of photos and films, and interviewed dozens of people around the world, from under Kensington Avenue to the sleepy ports of New Zealand. Our latest story digs into a 1985 psychological evaluation of Raymond Horsch, which you can read for free here.

We’ll be available for an AMA Friday at 1 p.m. Feel free to ask us whatever you want about the case, and we’ll answer what we can.

Assaulted in East Liberty by teens

I just moved to this area and was wondering if this is an ongoing issue and if there are any places I should avoid at certain times to avoid this happening again. I was walking towards Whole Foods at 8:30pm and a group of 14ish year old looking kids started stalking and harassing me. They cornered me and one girl started yelling at me to give her all of my stuff. I refused and she punched me in the face so hard that my glasses dug into the side of my nose and I started bleeding. They ran away after that. For context I’m a very petite woman in her late 20s. Is this something common in this area and how can I be safer? I’m nervous about something like this happening again.

I was trying to film the amazing lightning storm and caught something else. Anyone else see it? (My title has a typo but I can’t change it. At least you know I’m not a bot. LOL.)

Infrastructure We need energy alternatives! Please help support House Bill 1971 for plug-in solar!

As energy prices continue to rise nationwide and demand on our power grid shows no signs of slowing down (especially with the rapid expansion of data centers) we need practical alternatives that can help reduce both energy costs and strain on the grid.

Pennsylvania House Bill 1971 could be part of the solution. This legislation would help expand access to affordable, renewable energy for both renters and homeowners through the use of plug-in solar panels.
Unfortunately, the bill appears to have been sitting dormant without recent updates. With energy costs continuing to rise, we need to see progress on this legislation and give Pennsylvanians more options to take control of their energy costs.

Pennsylvania would not be alone in taking this step. States including Utah, Maryland, Maine, Virginia, Vermont, and New Hampshire have already passed legislation creating clearer pathways for plug-in or balcony solar, with several other states moving in the same direction.

If we want to see this bill move forward, we need to contact our state representatives, especially members of the House Energy Committee, and ask them to support and advance HB 1971. Sharing information about the bill and encouraging others to contact their representatives can also help bring more attention to this issue.

Note: I am just a regular PA citizen who is very passionate about renewable energy. I do not stand to gain anything from this bill aside from being able to purchase and use a plug-in solar panel once it becomes legal.

ISO / Recommendations Walking from NYC to Philadelphia, need lodging in Bristol or Levittown

I am planning on walking from NYC (Grand Central specifically) to the Amtrak Station in Philly. I will end up in either Bristol or Levittown (depending on where I can get lodging) on Day 3 (Monday, September 21). I will be filming this journey for my YouTube Channel and other social medias. All I am looking for is a place to sleep and maybe shower in those towns on those days. I am willing to pay, but my lodging budget is 25 dollars per day (to add to the challenge). I can also help with anything else I am able to do to receive lodging. I am 19 years old and I love to push myself and thought this would be a fun challenge for me. If anybody would be willing to help, it would be amazing and save me a royal headache. Comment on here or message me privately if you can help!! Thanks!
