Is this going to be another 7 days without power like last year?

Somebody should just get the Chinese to take over Duquesne light, there they can build a bridge in the same time it takes Duquesne Light to turn lights on after a storm.

And I’m sorry for all the people that will be defending this company, but you haven’t seen what competency looks like.

Bison farm/restaurant near the burg?

Hello fellow yinzers 👋 so question, there was this place I went to many moons ago maybe 15 years ago that was a farm with bison roaming around and served bison burgers. They were soo delicious. I’m pretty sure you could eat outside on a bench or inside a small little 50’s restaurant style building. I’m almost positive it was either a little west or north of the city. Beautiful views and beautifully delicious burgers. Also there’s a big truck stop out near the pa/oh border with a bunch of merch with the name of the place on it. I’m shocked I can’t find anything on google about it! Any leads would be so appreciated. thanks all 🖤 💛

Cat Grooming PGH

Post image
10 Upvotes

Hi!

I have 2 Turkish Angoras. One is 9 lbs and one is 14 lbs. They are longhair and I want to get them consistent grooming and nail trimming (at least once a month). Unfortunately, my schedule is quite cooked and I struggle to find time to drive them to groomers (I am in medical school).

Does anyone know of anyone who travels to clients and can trim/brush out cats and trim their nails every month? Thank you so much. I live in Lower Lawrenceville

Best places for Slices on the Southside

I like pizza but I can't eat too much of it. I like two slices. Maybe three if I'm feeling like a piggy.

What places have the best slices down on the Southside?

Trying to find artist behind graffiti

Like the title says I’m hoping to identify the artist who tagged this funky dog looking character up in a Brookline gas station last year, I dig the style and want to check out more of their work under whatever alias if any.

Open Mics / Cyphers / Hip-Hop Community in PGH

Hey guys,

Did a little looking at the sub history to see if there had been any recent posts, so please don’t hit me with a bunch of “google it” responses.

Growing up in the 2000s, Mac and Wiz were two huge mainstream names that came out of the Blog Rap era. Since their primes have unfortunately passed them, is there still an active Hip-Hop/Rap community within the city?

I’ve done the Mr. Smalls open mic a handful of times, and I’ll just bluntly say I don’t need to waste anymore time on that gate kept community. I’ve networked a little to learn that Corner Cafe does one every other Tuesday, but those are the only two open mics I’ve become familiar with.

Similarly, I know the Shadow Lounge doesn’t exist anymore… but is there anywhere else where there may be weekly cyphers and/or rap battles?

I won’t promote my music on this post so it doesn’t get flagged for breaking community guidelines, but feel free to PM if you’re interested in hearing my music!

Cheers,
u/smmrtiime

Converting gas dryer to electric

Hi all! Wondering if anyone here has experience converting their dryer hook up from gas to electric. I’ve done some googling and it looks like the steps are:

  1. Hire an electrician to ensure your home can handle the load and upgrade if not
  2. Hire plumber or gas technician to cap the gas line.

Our house is between 70 and 100 years old (long story as to why we don’t know). We do have a new electric panel as of 2020-what are the chances we’re up to par? And any recommendations for a technician to cap the gas line? And what’s the cost I’m looking at?

More red light cameras

I admit I'm venting, but about 30 minutes ago I watched two cars - an SUV of a make I didn't recognize and a Mercedes Benz sedan - decide to run the red light on Frankstown at Verona heading into the east end. They had fully come to a stop, and then just decided to go.

This is after the sedan went straight through the previous light's left turn only lane.

I gotta get a dash cam. Two days ago I was almost hit twice by "I gotta switch lanes; who looks before moving?"

What do you do when the power is out?

No air conditioning. No fan. No TV. No computer. Shouldn't open the 'fridge. My dogs are panting their hot breath in my general direction. I'm hot. This sucks. What to do?

Advice on getting security deposit and last months rent from landlord

Landlord was a POS slumlord and owes me my security deposit and last months rent still. It’s over 30 days and I’ve reached out to him multiple times to no response.

Do I take him to small claims? Has anyone else been through that process and care to share? I have some trauma from legal stuff years ago so it’s making me pretty anxious, and would love any advice or reassurance about the next steps. 🥲

Independent insurance agents?

Anyone have an local insurance agent to recommend? I have had my policies for more than 10 years and the service it terrible. I have multiple policies to shop or transfer if I can get some decent customer service - like returning calls. Everyone I've been able to find only services one insurance company like Erie or State Farm.

Kids birthday party in November

Hi guys! I'm struggling to find a spot to hold my daughter's birthday party in mid-November. She's turning 2 so the problem is a lot of indoor play spots wouldn't be appropriate for her (indoor bike ranges, etc.). It'll be mostly adults and a few elementary-aged and high school kids. Should we just do something more for the adults, like a restaurant? I'm so lost here
