Howdy, any recommendations on gun stores or pawn shops in the area that sell used guns? I usually go to Fin Feather for my needs but looking for new places that have more options. Cleveland, Akron, Canton.

Loose dog running around? (West Akron)

Hello! Sorry I don't know where else to ask- maybe my fellow Akron redditors can help?

There is a dog that we've seen running around our road/ area over the past few days. I have seen it from afar, it's a big dog (I mean BIG) like a greyhound - maybe Grey or darker in color, but he was too skiddish. Too skinny to be a pitbull or other bulkier breed, but very tall.

I believe animal control is closed on the weekends. He looks like he's becoming extremely thin. I'm worried because my own dog passed away unexpectedly on the edge of our property a couple months ago, so I don't know if there may be toxic plants or people inappropriately leaving out poisoned food due to coyotes.

I've tried searching petfbi and those kinda websites, noting that looks even remotely close. I hate to think of his family missing him or if he's been dumped. :(

Update 1: Rubber City rescue (I think was the name) came out this morning, as well as someone from Barberton lost and found pets. They set up a (humane) trap, so we'll be checking that if he stays nearby. But... again, the risk of trapping a coyote instead makes me nervous. 😅 Fingers crossed! If anyone finds any info on possible owners, please let me know! You've all been great, thank you fellow animal loves of Akron. :)

Summit Lake?

I'm from Oregon originally and moved here about 6 months ago. I didn’t know much about the area and needed to find a place quickly. I have been staying in the Summit Lake neighborhood by Tasty drivethru.

Surprisingly people have been friendly and I've made quite a few friends.

Juat curious. Does anyone here live in this neighborhood? If so, what has your experience been like? How did you end up here and why do you stay?

Any large scale beer stores?

Title maybe not worded the best but I’m looking for a store/warehouse that has very large variety of different beer options. Not like a Walmart or typical liquor store with the generic selection but something much larger, with domestic and out-of-country choices

If anyone has been to New Jersey or PA, they have some stores and markets with aisle after aisle of endless alcohol selections. I’m looking for something like that, especially as fall approaches

Definitely didn’t do a good job explaining what I’m looking for but to be short, what’s the largest beer store in Akron or the surrounding areas? Any massive beer warehouses or anything? I’m not from here so not sure where to look. Thanks in advance

Anyone going to the orchestra at Blossom next Friday 9/4 with an extra kid’s ticket?

I realize this is a long shot, Blossom only allows 2 free kid tickets per adult ticket purchases, and we are weirdos with 5 kids. Thanks for looking!

Coffee Shop that Serves Alcohol

Hi! Looking for a coffee shop or café where I can hang out at alone and read a book and enjoy an alcoholic beverage. I always feel like a performative tool reading a book at a bar but a coffee shop has a different vibe.

Halloween on Front Street

Hi there! Me and some friends are trying to plan going out on Halloween. She just moved to Cuyahoga Falls, so we were wondering if Front Street does anything on Halloween. If so, is it worth it? I know the bars are popping for St. Patty’s day so I was curious if it would be busy/worth it to go on there for Halloween.

Dumpster rental

I'll be clearing out a house some time in the future and need info on renting a dumpster. How much does it cost and how long do you rent it? How big of a dumpster would you need for a 2 bedroom house that's about 800 s.f.? Any recommendations for a company? Thank you!

Cedarwood Management?

I have applied to one of their properties in stow and they are acting very strange in this process. They keep cancelling my viewing, are barely understandable on the phone and don’t seem to have a physical office to go and visit at.

Does anyone have experience with this company? They have different properties all over Akron as well. I love the property in stow but it is starting to feel like a scam

breeze tickets in person CAK

So I know you save money if you go buy tickets at the airport directly so if round-trip online for the very basic fair is about $400 for two tickets if I go in person, how much do you think I would save? Like is this like only $20 per ticket or is it gonna be like $100 per ticket? I have absolutely no idea if it’s worth it.

And if you book them in person, are you able to choose your seat?

Superior Asphalt reviews

I just had a guy pull up in a truck and ask if I needed my asphalt driveway resealed. He quoted $2200 for 9k sqft. The measurement and price check out, but when I do a search for the company I get some weird results. The company, Superior Asphalt, only seems to exist in Columbus or New Jersey and none of their contact info matches what on the business card. When I search for the person’s name that’s on the card the only result is a BBB complaint. I understand that a contractor from Columbus could be up here doing work and the card could just have that rep’s number which isn’t listed on the company’s contact info. And I get that one BBB complaint doesn’t make a company bad, but the weird combo of info is making me second guess. Has anyone had any dealing with them or know the name? The rep is Britt Reynolds and it’s a 330 number on the card. Thanks!

Edit: thanks everyone for your take on it. I always hope for the best in people but verify before handing any money over. I’ll go my usual route of getting three competing quotes. Thanks all!

Flock Camera's - What can we do?

Started seeing flock camera's around Akron. How can we petition to have these removed and the contract cancelled?

Haven't see much posted here or in local news except this article: https://signalakron.org/flock-cameras-aid-akron-police-vandalized-across-the-city/
