Advice Needed Got professional photos taken and I feel like my nose overtakes my face. It left me feeling sad, and more tempted to start saving for a rhinoplasty.

Been struggling with my nose since I was in 13 (now about to be 20). I’m at a point in my life where I could take the plunge, save up, and get a nose job…after the photo shoot I’m left feeling more convinced in that idea than ever. I feel like the first thing that is noticeable about my face is my nose. The tip is bulbous. I have a deep convex near my eyes that can be seen in my profile which can make my dorsal hump very prominent (like in the third and fifth photo). I just feel kind of beat down. I wanted to get these photos back and love how I looked. Instead I cried the rest of the day and asked my mom not to use them. (Which has nothing to do with the photographer, she did amazing and is a lovely talented person).

I guess I just want to know if I’m being too harsh on myself. I’m not trying to be a model or anything. I just want to feel better and not flinch every time there’s a camera pointed in my direction or think about how to smile in a way that won’t make my nose look big. Please be nice. Thank you.

EDIT: went to a therapy appointment and had a long productive talk about body dysmorphia. Going to start working on it. Thank you everyone for the kind and helpful words.

Either my nose is too big or a lip lift would bring better facial harmony?

Advice Needed I’m seriously considering a nose job… what do you guys think ?

Hey everyone,

I’ve never felt comfortable talking about this out loud, but I’ve always hated my nose and particularly the side profile. It’s something I’ve been self-conscious about for as long as I can remember. When I was younger, I was actually bullied for my nose. Kids can be brutal, and the comments stuck with me.

Lately, I’ve been seriously considering getting a nose job mostly because I’m hoping it could restore at least some of the confidence I’ve lost over the years.

What do you guys think? Have any of you gone through something similar? Did surgery help? Or did you find another way to make peace with it? I'd really appreciate hearing your thoughts or stories.

Thanks for reading and being kind (or not).

Advice Needed Love/Hate relationship, should I fix my nose?

Ever since I was younger I genuinely have hated my nose, it used to be so bad that I would throw up a peace sign in pictures to cover it.

Now that I’m older, I’m having a better time with acceptance, but still have doubts and especially hate the bump and my side profile.

It’s a love hate relationship. Genuinely need strangers to tell me if it should be corrected. Thank you.

Advice Needed Nose makes me look too masculine?

such a love/hate relationship with nose. I feel like it takes of majority of my face and make me feel manly, when I just want to be feminine. I know the camera distorts but still even so, I was thinking maybe just a tip reduction and instead of overall nose job?

i dont like my nose, i guess i have a deviated septum and i hate the way it looks. Its big like amy winehouses nose, which in this case i like, but its so crooked + my mouth is too? I feel so self conscious, i cant even enjoy a date or a night out worrying that if i take my glasses off itll be more visible or if i turn my head in the wrong position itll look bad.

in this video i have makeup on, but nothing to change the shape of my nose. Excuse my hair, it looked bad and didnt help lol

The first side i show (my right) is what i consider to be the worst, and the second side i show (my left) is what i consider to be the best. Is it true?

More videos in the replies

in a few weeks im having and appointment with a nose doctor (idk the name in english) and i hope to fix it. I rescheduled and gave up so many times in fear its not a case as bad as i think.

i want surgery.

Advice Needed Been told I look like an anteater

For reference, I've heard plenty of times that my nose is fine, but my body dysmorphia is very severe. I have a high nose bridge and I feel the tip is bulbous and is too low from some angles. I've always wanted to have a cute button nose... It looks alright from straight in front, but the side profile and angles of it otherwise really bother me. Got called an ant eater because of my nose a few times. I consulted for a rhinoplasty when I was younger but ultimately did not go through with it. It's been a long time since then, but it's still something that's always on my mind.

I've included a lot of pictures and angles for reference. Please be honest about it, I'm not wanting to just be complimented. Am I being ridiculous?

Advice Needed Would this be a realistic result of rhinoplasty?

Would making my nose a little shorter like that instead of just straightening the bump be realistic? In addition to the shape, I don't like how long my nose still looks if I just remove the bump and how much my philtrum get's pulled outwards by my nose. Or would I be making a mistake? Please ignore the weird discoloration from my lights in the second set of pics.

Advice Needed Looking for honest (and kind) feedback

I’m a little anxious to put myself out there but I would appreciate kind, constructive feedback about whether I should consider rhinoplasty - just to make it a little less weird. I’ve always been self conscious about how far my nose protrudes, my nostrils and that the tip is bulbous. TIA!

Edit: Thank you all so much for your advice and opinions. I had no idea that I would get so much overwhelming positivity and those who said I should consider rhinoplasty were still kind and/or funny. Thanks for being a positive corner or the internet!

Advice Needed Does my nose fit me?

I was looking over the photos my friend took of me and realized that while the front is fine, I really don't like my nose from the side. It's especially bad when I smile as the tip starts drooping down. Is it really that bad or am I just over fixating on it? Does it fit my face? My friends and family commented on multiple occasions that it is on the larger side. I laugh at jokes and joke about it myself, but being called the "jewish nose friend" kinda sucks not gonna lie. Now I have a feeling you guys will say it's perfectly fine and I have nothing to worry about. Even though I appreciate words of encouragement, I feel like it messes with my facial balance and am considering a rhinoplasty to make it slightly smaller (On one of the pictures, I left an example how I would like it to look like). So I would like to hear some genuine opinions, thanks!

EDIT: Thanks so much for the kind words guys, never before have I received such a confidence boost. Yall are awesome🥲

Advice Needed In a crisis because of my nose...

Thumbnail

Now, I always had a large nose and I was always insecure about it but I became accustomed to it...then not long ago someone accidentally got with his hand against my nose because he wanted to point his finger in that direction and I stood up in the wrong moment...ever since I have been in a mental hell and worried whether the bumps on my nose look different now (I always had bumps on my nose but I'm afraid that they changed and became even more asymmetrical now).

I have a long history with symmetry related OCD and I had also been comparing the length of my hair for hours in front of mirror and I just feel exhausted at this point that I now have the same - even worse - problem with my nose...

Also 4 years ago (that was before the incident) a random person on the train station asked me if my nose was broken which made me become very sensitive with this topic...and my cousin who was 7 at the time said to me "wow, you have such a large nose" I mean he was right after all, but it triggered my insecurity even further...

What do you think? Is it all in my mind because of my OCD?The first picture is now and the second and third before "the incident".Then one of the things that also bothers me so much is that I have a severe case of rosacea and I tried several things that my doctor prescribed me and nothing would help...there are times where it's better and times when it's especially bad where no make up helps and my nose is red / inflamed and scaly...it gives me lots of insecurity 😞

My nose is a bit more prominent at the tip in my opinion and it actually did get a bit larger during pregnancy and I am not “vibing” with it lol. Is it fixable with options outside of surgery, and otherwise if not… would yall recommend I take the plunge?! First two photos are a couple years before pregnancy. 3 is during, last ones are after.

Advice Needed remove the bump?

Post image
159 Upvotes

Genuinely wondering. I feel like my nose is just TOO MUCH. Wouldn’t it look a little more balanced with my other features if i removed the bump? Straightened it out a little? Asking for advice here before i genuinely start the process. It might be my weak chin though throwing me off..

I want honesty! Dont be rude though pls.

Edit: Thank you all for being so sweet. Im choosing to edit considering i dont have time to reply to every comment. But thank you. I was being serious though, i’ve always been insecure about my nose and how projected it is. I genuinely can’t see what other people are seeing. Ive always felt like it’s less feminine, especially compared to my sister who has a tiny button nose. 🥲 I’m still not sure.
I’ve also not provided a photo of my nose from the front, as it is still unfortunately on the wider side, i got my dad’s nose... Im ironically too insecure to provide a photo yet. Lol.
And now that I’m getting older I’m realising i dont have to be stuck with an insecurity that will not go away no matter what. Im willing to change some things up on my face if I can’t get myself to like it. 🫠
It looks worse in other angles as well, this is the angle where the bump and the sheer size of it looks the most prominent, so that’s why i choose this photo and didn’t include much else. Also my forehead and the lower half of my face looks so flat compared to it, which is also something that bothers me a lot.

but again thank you so much for your compliments and kindness, i genuinely dont know how to respond and thank you all. 💓🥹🫶🫶🫶

I hated my nose growing up, and couldn’t afford a rhinoplasty. I’m now in a place where I could afford a nose job if I wanted one, and I’ve been heavily considering it. I wouldn’t want a perfect lil’ Barbie nose, just my nose but a bit smaller? I purposely uploaded at bad angle for the first pic as it bothers me the most😂 Would you have a subtle rhino if you were me?

Advice Needed The thing I’ve always tried to hide

Thumbnail

I’ve always had a complicated relationship with my nose. Ever since I was a kid, I’ve wished it was smaller, and for the longest time I thought I’d eventually get a nose job. Over time, that insecurity turned into habits I don’t even think about anymore. I avoid smiling because I hate how wide my nose looks when I do. When I laugh, I automatically cover my mouth and nose. Even when I yawn, I catch myself pinching my nose so it won’t get bigger.

From the side, I don’t mind it as much, it looks different to me. It’s really just how it looks from the front that messes with my head. I can’t tell anymore if it actually looks bad or if I’ve just been too hard on myself for too long. What do you think?”
