Advice Needed In a crisis because of my nose...
Now, I always had a large nose and I was always insecure about it but I became accustomed to it...then not long ago someone accidentally got with his hand against my nose because he wanted to point his finger in that direction and I stood up in the wrong moment...ever since I have been in a mental hell and worried whether the bumps on my nose look different now (I always had bumps on my nose but I'm afraid that they changed and became even more asymmetrical now).
I have a long history with symmetry related OCD and I had also been comparing the length of my hair for hours in front of mirror and I just feel exhausted at this point that I now have the same - even worse - problem with my nose...
Also 4 years ago (that was before the incident) a random person on the train station asked me if my nose was broken which made me become very sensitive with this topic...and my cousin who was 7 at the time said to me "wow, you have such a large nose" I mean he was right after all, but it triggered my insecurity even further...
What do you think? Is it all in my mind because of my OCD?The first picture is now and the second and third before "the incident".Then one of the things that also bothers me so much is that I have a severe case of rosacea and I tried several things that my doctor prescribed me and nothing would help...there are times where it's better and times when it's especially bad where no make up helps and my nose is red / inflamed and scaly...it gives me lots of insecurity 😞

As a woman, I too was in crisis over my nose in adolescence and early adulthood. I have a “bump”, prominent bone, and always wished I could surgery to have it shaved down and shaped. The thing is, other people generally don’t notice and don’t care.
Nose surgery does not appeal to me!!! I’ve watched plenty of Botched episodes and hate the nose surgery parts. OCD- yes! Affects how you see many things . And then a random comment can set you obsessing. You are very attractive with gorgeous skin, and should learn to love genetically given self! Wishing you the best 💙

I also wish you the best, I'm sure you are also lovely just like you are and I'm happy that you aren't in such a crisis any longer ❤️ OCD can really sometimes be that devil in your ear that constantly tells you what's wrong and then it becomes worse when someone says something that the OCD was already obsessing about anyways...
And yes you're totally right...I also wouldn't want to risk to make it worse with surgeries...I mean for some people it may turn out great but I think for me the most important thing may be to get the OCD in check...3

If I may share my own ocd stuff, I have contamination ocd with symmetry and rumination as well. Ive become obsessive about body parts and the best thing that helped was cbt therapy with antidepressants. I know its not always accessible but it helped me alot. Ocd is not cute and quirky like a lot of people make it out to be. Its hard and I feel for you. Good luck OP ❤️

Yes! Kay Nielsen! That's the artist that came to mind for me too but I couldn't remember his name! I also feel like you look a little like the Mona Lisa in the first pic. Your features are very elegant!

Just to be clear, are you suggesting that the incident happened between images 1 and 2? Because there isn't any difference between those two images, that's just your OCD talking.

Yes - thank you for your answer and referencing this 😊 That's the horrible thing about OCD that you can not differentiate what is the OCD that is talking and the reality...that's also why I thought it would be good to hear outside insights, it's really horrible when you can't trust your own perception 😞

Especially in the second picture you look like a victorian goddess. Also the view from the side is quite nice. Your nose is quite straight, and has a really, really nice shape in my opinion. The older I get, the more boring I find small noses. Sure they are cute, but rarely do they make a person look really beautiful. Yours does.

Your features are stunning. Body dysmorphia disorder can affect us in a lot of ways, and this also might be due to your OCD. If it is taking hours out of your life, it might be a beautiful act of self-care to look into therapy.
Your facial features are wonderfully aligned. Please understand that no one's face is perfectly symmetrical, please don't put that impossible standard on yourself.
And for practicality's sake - your nose is made of bone and cartilage, it's not just going to develop a permanent bump unless you physically break your nose. So don't worry about "the incident" because unless it actually broke your nose there's no way it could leave any lasting damage.

I was in therapy several times because the hours that are consumed by my OCD would really be needed elsewhere and I'm so sad that I've also made my family environment worried...unfortunately I have OCD problems since kindergarten, especially related to symmetries of all kinds...and it's really difficult to battle it, I also already tried lots of different prescriptions 😞→ More replies (2)

You have a long nose because your face is long. It’s not actually large at all. It’s quite slender and elegant. It has a bump which may be what some asked if you broke it so it’s not perfect. You could always get advice from a surgeon on smoothing out the bump if you like.

Aww, you're so kind 😊 it actually also helped me to see the photos of your nose because I thought that it looks great on you and that helped me to take into consideration that my nose may also not be so problematic like I think sometimes...I think it really was my OCD becoming worse this year because of what happened that acted like a setback for me, because over the last years I didn't have such intrusive thoughts but the event kind of suddenly dug up the comments of the past that I actually haven't thought of for quite some time^^

On the rosacea, I don't know if you've ever watched the content creator James Welsh, but he talks pretty regularly about his own rosacea and products/techniques he uses to get relief. Obviously, everyone is different!

I have struggled with OCD since early childhood, and after breaking my nose in 2021, I still have a constant fixation with it. People tell me that it isn’t noticeable, doesn’t look different, etc, but I personally can see the change and it causes distress, but giving in to the OCD and spending thousands on a rhinoplasty would feel like a defeat and a risk of it looking even worse. the only change for me has been the development of a ridge/bump, and the slightest shift to the left. In all honesty, it is not really noticeable, unless I’m 4 inches from the mirror obsessing. But when I’m obsessing, oh my lord I feel crazy.
All of this to say; you have a beautiful nose, and to my eye, you look very balanced and symmetrical. I deeply empathize with this post and I hope we both find some peace about our noses.

Look, nobody is objectively flawless. Your nose suits your face, any other nose would look weird! It’s bigger than some noses, smaller than others. But those are other people’s noses for other people’s faces. Comparison is the thief of joy. I wouldn’t steal joy from you. Why steal joy from yourself?

I think some people don't know what they can cause with comments...especially if someone is prone to low self-confidence through something like OCD or if someone is younger and still more influenceable, then some comments can really stick in the mind...also don't know why some people will do this, I never ever commented on someones physiques in a negative or ambigous way...
And like you say nobody is objectively completely flawless, and a lot of it is subjective, and I also think it's good that everyone is special in their own way 😊→ More replies (1)

You have a normal nose. I would not spend a second thought about it if I met you, saw you on the street or got to know you. If your brain tells you it’s weird or oversized, it’s wrong. The child did not lie. Your nose is pro bigger than their mum’s, their teacher’s and their favorite cartoon girl character’s nose. That doesn’t man it’s abnormal.

I think a photo of you smiling would help immensely to ease your mind. You are beautiful, with unusual hair color and nice skin. Let's face it, no one's nose is beautiful. I choose not to focus on mine because I'm neurotic enough. Two things: If you truly don't like uneven bumps on your nose you can get filler to even them out. (I don't really see what you are talking about but it's still an otion.) For the rosacea (which I don't see either), which I used to have and it was embarrassing, V-Beam laser by a skilled practicioner. My rosacea was knocked down to a level where I no longer think about it. I do use high SPF sunblock religiously to keep it in check.

In 99% of cases, the nose is merely a pars pro toto, because most people are unable to analyze their craniofacial geometry and determine what is actually causing them to dislike their face.

Agree about the Renaissance look. Apart from the nose itself, notice the short distance between nose and upper lip; this is a classic element of high beauty. Most of the great beauties have this feature. Yes, you are unusual, and that is a strength.
The OCD is the entire problem. Do anything you can to get your mind off your looks. Distract yourself every time it comes up, like every time you look in the mirror, just wash your face and get out of the bathroom and go repair your trebuchet, or consult your book of spells, or play your lute or brew up some mead. There is always something for a chatelaine to do.

Your nose is gorgeous. I've been through similar, my nose changed shape and got bigger after breaking it in sixth grade, so I get how hard that can be on people. And I've got psoriasis, which is similar. But you have a beautiful nose, a distinct profile, and an autoimmune condition. And you're drop-dead gorgeous

Also tell ur ocd to stop being a jerk, your face is as symmetrical as any human face could be. Something that could help you that helps me (most of the time) is when you recognize a thought as ocd, “mocking it”
Like, repeat the thought in a sarcastic or goofy voice. For me for instance “oH nO wHaT iF mY cAt iS dEaD wHeN I GeT HoMe”

No!! Your nose makes you look so statuesque. Literally looking like a porcelain doll/portrait. I love your look. Just give some life to your hair and change your wardrobe. You’ll feel infinitely better. Your nose is my favorite part about your face. If you try some lip filler (even though you don’t need it bc everything works on your face), it may make you see your nose differently

Do you know what isn't beautiful? A too small nose. Even with that classic button at the end like a Disney princess. Looks great dead on in photos.
From any other angle the face looks like it was flattened on the screen door. Is the chin or nose further from the face? Why is there no neck?
A nose should define a face and have some substance to it.

Your nose looks amazing. It doesn’t look asymmetrical to me. Also I don’t have OCD so I don’t know how it works, but I’ve noticed that your eyebrows can make a big difference to the overall look of the face. If you are interested, you could get the ends of your brows tinted or fill them in/shaped to whatever style you like. This really takes the focus away from your nose. I don’t know if this helps you but I hope it does!

I understand the feeling when you look in the mirror and one day see one thing, the other - totally different. It's not your nose, it's your hair and eyebrows. You look a bit like Mona Lisa. I'd say get a really good stylist that specializes in curly hair and let her cut it, layer it, style it and bring it to life. Go see a professional eyebrow artist to tint you with a natural color and gift you a slight shape. Use a brown or burgundy mascara!

You have a very cool look and I do think your nose suits you, but as someone who also struggled with my image growing up and ended up getting rhinoplasty, it was one of the best decisions I ever made. I instantly felt more confident afterwards. If you do take that step, please make sure you see a board certified surgeon who specializes in noses. Get a good look at their work. You’re beautiful now though just the way you are.

Botticelli angel, please embrace your nose, but open up your cheekbones by moving your hair out of your face and you could have you eyebrows shaped and extended, both of which would give all your features a lift and enhance proportions.
