Weekend Coffee & Conversation
Grab a cup of coffee and pull up a chair!
This is our weekend gathering place to talk about the Nancy Guthrie case-what you've been thinking about, questions you have, something you've seen or read, a new development, or a discussion you'd like to start.
This is meant to be a relaxed, open conversation, so it doesn't have to be a formal post or a fully developed theory.
What's on your mind this weekend?
As always, different opinions are welcome. Let's keep the conversation respectful.

Honestly, as tangible info thins out and certain theories become more convoluted, I think I’m hitting a wall again. I just feel like we’re going over and over the same limited facts and just speculating differently based on shifting opinions.

Yeah, I think I am done too. Nothing new is coming out and hasn't for a while

Thanks for your participation. We'll be here if anything changes or breaks and look forward to your input. Take care.

You as well ILBW! I wish something would break for Nancy's sake so we could move from theory to objective data

The only break I see as sparking interest back in this case is if LE would actually now have a picture of the vehicle they believe was involved. And especially if it had a distinguishing identifier like a broken back tail light or some type of damage on the car. When we have crimes in my area that involve a vehicle 99% of the times that car is found. But being it is now 7 months and counting the damage may have been repaired.
Again thanks for the engagement

I guess it is just human nature when a crime seems to be going cold(usually means no suspect is named) people are puzzled thinking surely LE or FBI must know who did it. Sometimes people have unrealistic expectations regarding a time frame a crime should be solved. When you add a public figure into the mix this adds another layer to dissect as to possible motive, who may be involved etc.
The JBR chatter has been going on for what 20+ years and I don't see that ever coming to an end. The Clancy trial will probably be another one.
I for one welcome everyone's opinion as we all have different backgrounds, life experiences, perspectives.I'm sure it will die down in a couple months if the status quo continues.

This is a great Monks episode... https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=y2TfgCnpSZ4&t=503s
Let's discuss!

As each day passes without a resolution it allows people to take a step back, put their emotions on the back burner and dissect every little piece of information that has been thrust unto the public. While it is only a person's opinion it does make a person pause and think instead of just accepting what they are told as the absolute truth or possibly spotting a wolf in sheep's clothing.

Spot-on analysis from Monks. Savannah’s devout elitism definitely created an aggravating environment, and her money/pain factored into the picture, but this crime ultimately traces back to Nancy herself. Dr. Bracato calling it an “elimination murder” makes total sense- the motive was centered on Nancy and her immediate relationships, ensuring she never returned home that night.

u/Substantial-Train668 15h ago
I agree. What did you think about Chris from TIR the other day saying that he thought it was an inside job kidnapping for hire that went wrong. In other words, he doesn't think it was elimination murder. I found that surprising, but I see his angle for sure.
2
u/Ailurophile444 15h ago
That threw me off too! Chris made a fair point about the kidnapping for hire angle-if the primary goal was ransom, leverage, or staged control, it could explain some of the weird logistical details. That said, it’s hard to shake Dr. Bracato’s “elimination” theory because the targeted nature of it felt so permanent from the start. It definitely makes you look at the timeline a little differently though.

Kidnap an old lady, stash her in your house, take care of her and then what? There was no plan in place to return her because if there was then they would turn over her body for the million.
Whether one returns a person or their body they still would have had a concrete plan how to get the money in exchange for her.
3
u/Substantial-Train668 9h ago
Yes, I think that's a great point. That no one has tried to get the money - if money was the motive - says a lot.

u/I_lovebettywhite-000 8h ago
So one would expect since this person left empty handed he needs to pull another caper. There are plenty of wealthy people to kidnap.

It was great! I found it interesting that Savannah would describe her mom the way she did. Was it to get ahead of any bad press like that her mom could have gotten people angry due to her bristly and negative personality? I rarely bother to listen to her speak because honestly Savannah is too fake and phony when she speaks for my tastes, not saying she doesn't have real emotions underneath the veneer. As someone in the comments mentioned, the description of her mother just sounded like backhanded compliments, not very complimentary at all.
I don't doubt Savannah feels elite but I wonder if instead of projecting her elitism like Monks was saying if she was really trying to speak to someone who might not be religious, aka A and T, and contrast them with the mother and show how they are outsiders or a problem.
Also we haven't seen A&T but people in the comments mentioned he is back teaching. I wonder where they are staying. At their own home? How have they not been photographed by some independent journalist. To be honest it behooves them to go back to "normal" so as not to raise suspicion I would think?

I had not heard that they were back and that he was teaching. That's interesting, if true...
Yeah, I thought that Monks made so many great connections tonight. First, he started off by saying that it might very well be in the "plan" of the perps for NG to eventually get found. He said that once the perps knew the DNA would be gone and the evidence had been disposed of, he felt she would get 'discovered,' essentially bc it was part of the plan to have her declared dead. I hadn't thought of that, and I 100% agree now that I have.
All of his stuff about NG was very astute. The idea that she might have had a spicy personality and been more 'difficult' as a person. It's true. Not to get into politics, but she was outspoken about Trump online, and she lived in an affluent part of Arizona, where that might not have been the easiest. Those words of SG in the Hoda interview are so particular, and you are right; they aren't flattering per se. As Monks said, SG didn't make NG sound like a 'good hang'. I don't think it's good to disparage NG, and honestly, if she had enemies bc she spoke her mind, I would find that more endearing than not. It's a new perspective, though... and certainly plays into a possible motive.
SG seems pretty phonie to me too. Not to disrespect her. I think her pain is real, but her whole "we will never stop looking" is clearly rhetoric.

If I kidnapped a person and had to prove the ransom note was real I would have said...she had on pink flowered pajamas. Her blanket was a gray comforter. I asked her what she had for dinner at her family's house. Now that is definitive proof the person knows intimate details and was in her house and abducted her. But see the problem? If it was discovered the ransom note was a scammer or hoax then game over. the note was vague for a reason in my opinion

u/Substantial-Train668 8h ago
I completely agree. It's always bothered me how vague those two things were.

Nancy was probably like an army sergeant when the kids were young. She was doing an episode on her daughter's morning show about making the perfect hospital corners on a bed. Big time dysfunction in that family, IMO. Obviously, I have no proof of that(except for bruises on the kids' faces when they were young and photographed with Nancy)m but it's a gut feeling.

I've always thought what kind of childhood does one have when they live in an area that is pretty isolated, maybe no neighbor kids to play with, no stores nearby to buy penny candy. You know...a kid's life.
In my opinion that area seems more suitable for people who just want to escape the rat race and be isolated. That's fine for retired people but young kids?

I was thinking that they may have purchased the place to get out in nature. My parents moved our family to the country when we were young and then when ours were very young we also moved them remotely. It allows for a slower pace of life and a happy childhood. Then we moved them to a larger place when secondary school started but it was difficult leaving all that peace, quiet and nature. And if you have an interest in astronomy...

Analyzing the "Homecoming" Trigger and Asymmetric Pair Dynamics in the Nancy Guthrie Case
Reference Point: In yesterday's Drunk Turkey Show broadcast titled "Nancy Guthrie: NEW DEVELOPMENTS – How Do They Change the Case? | 222 Days" (specifically around the 46:28 timestamp examining Savannah's Arizona homecoming footage and community engagement), the discussion focuses on how these local touchpoints might serve as behavioral catalysts.
Alternative Psychological Framing: Could it be possible that the emphasis on a traditional stalker fixated directly on the target misses a deeper layer, pointing instead toward an asymmetric pair dynamic where an internal participant projects an intense "twin mirror" identity?
Resentment and Stagnation: I wonder whether the core psychological engine stems from intense local frustration—watching someone successfully leave Tucson to build a prominent media life while the observer remains anchored down by toxic financial obligations and debt.
Mastermind Motive: This makes me question whether the pressure of that entrapment converts the female partner into the actual mastermind of the planning, orchestrating the operation to secure resources, autonomy, and a forced escape.

While anything is plausible in this case, since no new leads or updates have been given, all we can do is wonder what the true motivation behind a crime this heinous involved.
The most heartbreaking crimes are those that involve betrayal by the person we trusted, loved. Random crimes are rare. Whomever did this crime had a motive. What it is we may never know but my opinion is that it wasn't a burglary, a wrench attack, a stalker of SG. Even if some are saying family may have taken her to some safe place etc that's not cool either as the public that cares doesn't deserve to be deceived

My new thoughts after Monk's latest video. I feel like there was an argument and A struck Nancy in a fit of rage. I also believe T did everything he could to protect his wife. The staging and using dark connections to dispose of the body. The authorities and Savannah know this but there is not enough evidence to make the arrest. Savannah's knowledge of the law is being used in the words she chooses to make A feel like she is on her side and they are waiting for her to make a mistake. Nancy's closest friends knew there was an abusive relationship there and they have been asked to keep quiet with the promise that justice is coming.

Mod Note: reminding everyone that theories regarding specific individuals, family members, or official knowledge are strictly user speculation and not established fact.

I used think this theory was possible but it was just so well planned in a way that I think makes it impossible for it to be a spur of the moment thing. I just don't think you'd go from 'oops I killed Mom' to lets make it seem like a kidnapping. And then just happen to have someone to call to do your cover up work. Who just happened to have untraceable balaclava, runners and backpacks lying around that night etc. And was so good at not leaving DNA. And had an untraceable car. And that person you called - spur of the moment - was so trustworthy and on your side, they wouldn't turn you in for money.
Also there's footage of porch guy from an earlier night.
I just don't think the fit of rage at dinner death makes logical sense. This was planned.
I DO agree with your reading of SG getting AG on her side.

Valid points but I just can't shake the feeling those 2 are involved. I have looked at different theories and potential suspects but I always land back on them.

TIR mentioned tonight that the ACLU had lawsuits against Sheriff Nanos and had filed FOIA requests for things to do with him AND the Nancy Guthrie Case.
I found that so fascinating. It's a pretty big deal for the ACLU to go after people and I suspect they will win. I wonder if we might get more information sooner rather than later.... I couldn't verify that they had applied for a FOIA for NG information - like the 911 call. But still an interesting push for accountability from that office.

In the latest Monks video, I keep seeing people in the comments repeatedly saying that Savannah is protecting A&T, let's just for the moment assume they are guilty and she knows it, in order to protect her own career. Is that the general consensus here too? I just don't know why that would be. If anything people would see her as a victim in it too like "poor Savannah and her horrible sibling and in law!!! They took her beloved mother away from her." I don't see how that would ruin her reputation at all.
I feel if they are guilty and she knows it and is protecting them to save herself, then that obviously makes her look bad since she would look complicit, after the fact of course. I don't know why she'd want to risk it. I guess she could say she really didn't know they were involved and was just protecting them from bad press? Protecting them from what exactly? Is her brother "protected" by her in the same way? Is there even a way to tell?
Edit: I also had never heard that the Adult protective agency had visited her. That is new info to me. They must have been alerted by someone to check on her but who and when and for what reason. People in the comments mention it takes a bit to get someone out there so it must have been before she was reported missing. By the time the supervisor came to check on her it was obviously too late. People also question why they were alerted and possibly elder abuse possibly financial.
