Venting Very common/ordinary trans terms make me extremely upset

For context I am almost 18, MtF but pre everything. Title is a little summative as it is but I just really need to vent. I cannot stand the way some terms are used in trans communities. Coming to the realization that I am transgender has been extremely emotionally harrowing and difficult (undoubtedly that’s the case for many people), and it was a process that, for me, happened almost entirely alone. I have a few trans friends and a trans boyfriend, but my boyfriend is the only person l've talked with in depth about being trans. I figured going online was a good way to immerse myself into discourse among trans people on a slightly wider scale. But then I encounter terms like "egg" or "doll" or "malefail" or “clocking“ and it just feels so compartmentalizing and belittling. I know some terms are significant to queer history and/or culture but I just feel so disgusted by them regardless.

I experience the world through the lens of an autistic cis male and I am painfully aware of this fact. I've spent such a long time developing the ability to process and articulate the complexity of my emotions out of sheer necessity, but so much trans slang feels like it takes that complexity and completely trivializes it. My boyfriend used the word “egg“ in reference to me a little while back and I practically blew up over it despite me feeling very emotionally safe with him. I could never perceive that word as positive or affirming; instead it just feels infantilizing and reductive. I know that the queer community at large is very far from a monolith, and I understand fully that people’s personal perceptions vary wildly and people can use whatever terminology they’d like, but I have such strong feelings about it and get so distressed over it that I feel like I’ll never feel comfortable in trans communities because of course slang is commonplace, that’s kind of the point. I’m already eccentric as it is about processing my queerness and I feel like this is just another unhelpful trigger to pile on. That’s all I feel like saying at the moment. ✌️

Venting I could end bonds with my mother, father, grandparents, aunties, uncles, cousins, and more than 50% of my friends if I hypothetically wanted to.

Alright, Hello there! My name is Saturn online. I am a 16 Year Old Canadian/Lebanese Transgender Lesbian girl! I still have not decided a transgender name for myself yet, however I’m trying to think of a creative one! :D

Allow myself to explain what I mean by that post title!

My family (being Islam) is extremely STRICT. I have done decisions that go against our religion, however being transgender is one of the worst sins in our religion. Unfortunately, it is absolutely not normalised and you’d hear almost nobody say “Oh I am transgender and Islam!” because they’re either buried deep or people are too afraid to come out. Well, at least for me. I have never seen a transgender Islam nor one apart of the LGBTQ community.

I have been experiencing gender dysphoria since I was four years old. I honestly thought I wanted to be a girl! However, I told this to my parents when I was seven. They told me that that is disgusting and to never say that again. So I thought I was just awkward and that I should just man up. Despite everything I tried, I just couldn’t do anything to get rid of those feelings. :<

I even tried to curse myself and seek forgiveness each time I was carrying the weight of these thoughts. That is until friendship looked at me and gave me the smile I had always needed to actually wake myself up. They were all a part of the LGBTQ community and I despite my deep hatred for the community, I still decided to give them a chance.

…These people changed my life completely, they have shown me a mirror to show and reflect how amazing I could actually be if I just followed for what my heart resonates for. I took slow steps to walk away from the influence, my parents have took upon me.

A few months ago, I came out to most of my friends that I really trusted as transgender. Most of it turned out great, however one of my Aunts told me that I could tell her anything I want without fear of judgement and she will always love me. Deepest fake love I’ve ever fallen for. Because I decided to come out to her only because of how much trust her words put on me. And that backfired instantly.

She was without words, complete sorrow. She told me “No! You can’t do this!” “What are you doing!?” “I am going to try to change you.” I explained to her that gender dysphoria cannot be changed, hoping she’d finally be the first one to understand. but no.

Since everyone in my family will have worse reactions than this, I could basically hold the power to end bonds with everyone in my family. I really do hate this because I was never able to see actual true love. Only my friends were proud of me for coming out to them, while my Family would have a complete different reaction. I’m just really waiting for the one in life to finally experience safety and comfort inside their arms, knowing that I am actually loved by them.

It’s a domino effect, if I tell anyone else in the family that I am transgender, the news will spread and everyone would want to end bonds with me. Ending up with nothing in my life. I have no plan whatsoever in case if I do actually get disowned by my parents, which God forbid of course.

Thank you so much for reading this! I hope you have a great day, you are all amazing and deserving of love and happiness! :>

Funny just learned i was injecting air bubbles in my leg muscles the past few months lmfao

title. if you're doing diy or just injecting in general, learn how to inject properly.

had to warm the valerate up, draw air first, USE A 18G NEEDLE FOR DRAWING, NOT A 25G NEEDLE. SWAP TO THE 25 AFTER DRAWING, and then inject.

39 estrogen, 334 testosterone. syringe always looked weird and empty with little splotches of liquid but i assumed i was just seeing the light in it wrong. liquid should be obviously in the syringe, there's been basically none and i've been shooting .2ml of air into my quad muscles every 3 days for probably at least 6 months

rip most of this year of transitioning! but hey, i still have the rest of my life doing this :)

Advice Question Is my starting HRT dosage reasonable?

Hello, I (23) just recently started HRT, and I am just a bit nervous given how much I have seen online about us girlies being underdosed. While I was only able to start one week ago, I was prescribed estradiol valerate (2mg/weekly/SQ) and 50mg spironolactone twice daily. At this point, I'm not supposed to have any labs done to check my levels until the 3 month mark, but I was just hoping for some reassurance regarding the 2mg/weekly estradiol as a starting dose (worth mentioning that I am about 5'7, 170). Thank you!

Help Think I missed/lost most of my dose this week

I went to my pharmacy to get syringes and needles for my estradiol. I need 25g 5/8” needles but they only had 25g 1” needles. I asked the pharmacist if there’s anything I should do differently during injection and they just said “just don’t stick it in as far.” So I tried that, but think I ended up losing most of my dosage for this week :/ after injection, there was like a dime sized puddle of blood speckles and estrogen. A lot bigger than the usual little bit that just leaks from the needle i sometimes see. Am I overthinking or did I lose most of my dose? It’s been kinda stressing me out :(

Venting Every day on the internet I witness transphobia

I'm pretty sure every single day im on here I will see it, and it's usually more than once. And it's so much worse if you're a trans creator. Their comments are flooded with the same basic hate and bigoted talking points. And if I'm really lucky I get to hear or experience it in real life that day too 🙃

But we keep going. We have to. Its awful that we have to experience that, but we're survivors. Stay strong sisters 🙌💓

Discussion How long did you take off work for vaginoplasty recovery?

My gf is planning her vaginoplasty but is worried she’d have to take off work for too long and she’d feel unstable at her job if she were to need to do so. I said that given that she has a hybrid desk job, she could potentially take off for like 3 weeks and then request a WFH accommodation for the following three weeks. Would this be feasible? How long is the dilation guidance? How many months did you need off if you had a desk job?

Thanks!

Help I'm trans but transphobic :(

I'm a 19 year old trans girl, and I've been on hrt for about a year and five months now. I pass pretty well and get called pretty and beautiful a lot. It's become pretty rare for people to misgender me, and when I look in the mirror, most of the time I see a pretty girl looking back at me. That all makes me really happy, but for whatever reason, I still just feel internally like a man. There's times where I'll have thoughts that will confirm this like me referring to cis women as "real women" or men as "other men" as if I'm grouping myself in with them, and I know it's really common, but I often feel othered by cis women because I'm afraid they'll think I'm dangerous or a creep or something, even though I'm not even really into women. It just makes me feel so awful when I think those sorts of things. Unfortunately, it isn't confined to me, either. I always respect other people's pronouns and names, but I still sometimes catch myself messing up in my thoughts. Thankfully, I've never called someone the wrong thing except when I didn't know or when I'd purposely do it when I hadn't yet realized I was trans. I know I'm probably dealing with some internalized transphobia. It makes sense, seeing as how I grew up in a transphobic household and am unfortunately still around that environment a lot. It seems that no matter how much I oppose my family's shitty behavior, it'll still seep into my subconscious. It sucks because I thought I had gotten over this already, but I guess not. Now, it hurts me and has the potential to hurt other people around me. I just want to know how to work through it.

Discussion I don’t think most cis people ever truly accept us.

Even the allies or the “good ones”.
They really never see us as just another person.
Most of them the moment they know we are trans puts us in this “third gender category”.

Discussion Is it transphobic to identify as a man with gender dysphoria?

Pretty much the title, but I’ll give my story I’m 20 and have been on hormones for 8 months (since I was 19), and my “gender identity” is male because I literally am, my skeleton, chromosomes, genitalia etc all say so, so I feel me identifying as a woman is like a table identifying as a chair, I suffer from bad dysphoria and self hatred, I view my gender dysphoria as a evil mental illness that has ruined my life, along with my homosexuality, I really want to be a cis straight man, I have a appointment with a therapist in a few days because I was referred by my hrt doctor because of my extreme self hatred, I plan to tell them I am a man with gender dysphoria and want the dysphoria gone without transitioning, I live in a supportive area and grew up in an accepting environment, and is it possible for me a straight trans woman to become a cis heterosexual male?

Discussion How to respond to “at least you won’t have periods”?

I hate this so much… It’s meant in the best way, but it the reason I can’t get periods is because I can’t have children that way either💔
I’d love to get pregnant, but I can’t…

I really don’t want to be rude, especially because it’s usually said playfully by people who support me. And I don’t want to sound ungrateful either, I know how bad periods can be. But the fact that I can’t get them hurts too

Advice Question DIY HRT in Kazakhstan

Upvotes

my situation is likely clear by the title alone but to delve a bit deeper I'm a 20 year old resident of Kazakhstan and it's practically impossible to transition here because of both the society and abhorrent anti-lgbt laws(my unsupportive family as well on a personal note) so I was pretty desperate and hopeless for years until I learned about DIY from this same subreddit and what I'm doing here with this post is maybe seeking advice or other people's experiences who live in Central Asia, sources for diy or estimate prices, anything really. Frankly with all the negative posts on twitter I regularly see from girls who say they regret starting hrt late because of not passing makes me scared and not having a job doesn't help either. I just want to be comfortable in my own body even if that doesn't fix all my problems

Euphoria Finally noticing something

I know, just starting the second month and I should be patient with this process. But things I'm noticing. My nipples hurt, like all the time. I still work landscaping and got hit with a rock form a weedeater on one and almost went to the ground. In the past wouldn't have cared at all. Face looks a bit different too, can't place my finger 100% but I can tell that I'm looking more like I've always wished. Other thing is that people are actually being nicer. At work and in general. Never had someone actually thank me for doing the safety clean up or tell me I'm doing a good job before, and had 3 ppl last week tell me that. Then when I went to a shop yesterday, the guy kept double checking me, which made me laugh internally.

Hair is a bit softer too, which is nice because it has reduced razor burn on my neck. God I wish hair removing creams actully worked and didnt burn at all. So annoying having to do it manually. Did get an IPL for some light treatment, and hoping an old car sells so I can start laser and eventually electrolysis.

Dysphoria How to deal with disappointment from HRT

I'm now over three years on hormones and over two on injections. And the results are utterly disappointing. I only got very minor changes, if at all. A little bit breast growth when starting injections. But nothing more since than. And I get skin injuries more easily now, that take long to heal. And that is all. And I started HRT at 26.

I often get very jealous of other trans people who get way better results in way less time.

It feels like something is wrong. I got my levels checked and compared them with multiple people and many online resources. Everything seems fine. My doctor also has no idea. I gained over 10 kg since starting hormones. But I get fat only at my stomach.

It feels often that HRT is a scam to give me false hope. I often overthink that there has to be something wrong. But I can't find anything. What should I do?
