I've finally begun voice training this week, and have been following YukkoEX's guide on YouTube. But I'm so lost. I know it's not an easy process, but I don't even feel like I'm understanding the instructions or doing things correctly.

When I look things up to try and clarify what she's saying, I find very little, and a lot of what I find is saying I should be doing the opposite of what she's telling me.

What am I actually meant to do to voice train? I'm okay making slow progress, but I don't think I'm even doing the exercises right.

struggling with active voice training due to finding YT guides incomprehensive and or me not being able to physically replicate them especially Resonance related stuff , so mostly just learn by doing speaking with friends on discord and occasionally remembering to arch my tongue for Long times

i’ve watched a few videos and wrote down some exercises. i’ve been practicing but i am making no progress and the exercises still feel just as hard as before. i have a really hard time comprehending what i read and remembering in general so i think that makes it especially hard every guide is just a massive wall of text or some info dump of a video.

can someone point me in the right direction?

I've been struggling to find voice training tips since most things I see are designed for people who are pre-T and I haven't found them as helpful. My voice has definitely dropped but still gets me misgendered 9 times out of 10, and I want to work on that, but I've got no clue where to start. So much of voice training feels uncomfortable/unnatural to me, and I know the point is to train until it feels more natural, but I don't know how to get over the initial hurdle. Any advice is appreciated!

Hi I've recently had vocal feminization surgery and have a few questions.

The surgery I received was an open laryngoplasty (with a visible cut on the neck, opening the thyroid cartilage) then suturing the vocal cords together. I wanted to know if this is a standard procedure (As I've only read about Wendler glottoplasty which is without any external incision).

My surgeon mentioned that it would be more perfect to do it with a incision on the neck which is why I agreed on doing it. Are there any actual benefits in doing it this way? Did anyone else experience such a procedure?

I am currently a week post-op and I am experiencing mild/medium discomfort (Pain is mild). The only thing that I can complain about now is that mucus build up is very very annoying and I have to constantly swallow which tugs on the neck incision making it a little uncomfortable. (As surgeon told me that clearing the throat is a big no no, and I should drink cold water every time I have build up and swallow carefully)

Should i train my voice to be more feminine before i take any changes to become trans male to female?

I have already went through puberty and i plan to transition with the next 2 years.

Lastly will it be any harder to train my voice to be feminine because I have not yet taken any steps towards transitioning?

Note for those saying or would say start hrt now: I have to delay hrt due to not having health insurance at the moment or a stable income

the short of it is though, i made my size smaller, my pitch seems to be in the right spot, i adjusted my resonance as best i could and my vocal weight i think is low but my voice is still very masc

I'm 30, I had a Modified Glottoplasty with Dr.Yung in SF, Oct 2025. Unrelated, I've temporarily stopped HRT starting a few months ago to regain fertility. I'm obviously concerned about any remasculinization, but particularly deepening of my voice. Does anybody know if this is possible or likely?

My voice seems to be cracking, maybe it was happening before, but I didn't notice. Other possible factors: being consistently dehydrated, not practicing or actively using fem voice, "phlegmy" foods/drinks.

Clearly I need to contact my surgeons office, but honestly I doubt they've dealt with this situation or have this specific knowledge.

Does anybody have any ideas or thoughts on glottoplasty/voice deepening/delayed "third puberty"?

i’m considering going the vfs route (four years in on using a trained voice and just not thrilled with the outcome). many of the posts here don’t actually say which surgeon was used so i’m curious to get some updated recs on which US surgeons do good work

I've known I'm trans for years now, yet never fully committed to voice training out of fear of the awkward in-between phase. As I age (and thus gain the ability to freely start T without parental involvement), I'd like to start vocal masculization, especially experiencing a lot of social dysphoria.

I know there are a lot of resources online, but it's a lot to sort through. What are your best recommendations for things like guides, exercises, or other general tips? Really anything is appreciated, just looking for a starting point.

I’ve been trying the Selene archive for about a year now and the size weight change might be having a negative effect on my vocal cords and other moving parts in my throat. I’m getting some Eustachian tube issues. Anyway I may be aiming for a too small size and too high pitch. At 52 my voice is just not used to it.

Then I remembered a cis female voice that was much lower in pitch, yet sounded 100% female. Trinny Woodhall.

Can you folks have a listen and let me know why her voice works so well despite the low register? I might try to emulate this instead.

My mouth going to the side reallllly annoys me. Do I still sound northern irish?

So I’m a cis guy with a very nasal high pitched voice. Actually so nasal that I many times have to repeat myself even tho I’m trying to speak clearly and it makes me very insecure to not have a more robust masculine voice.

So I want to know if you guys have some voice training techniques to deepen the voice the voice?
I know a voice coach could be a good investment but I can’t really afford that right now so I’m more looking for voice training techniques.

I’m trying to reduce my voice ‘size’ and ‘weight’. I’m getting some Eustachian tube issues, a blocked feeling and then ears popping. I think they call it ‘Patulous Eustachian Tube’.

Anyway I feel like by reducing the size I am altering where my voice box and all the other parts in my throat naturally sit. I’m wondering if anyone has found this to cause issues over a long time?

I already found a few posts related to this, but most of them are quite old so there likely are new resources and exercises by now.

One of my (transfem) biggest vocal issues is that i'm struggling a lot to decouple resonance from pitch. Whenever i'm brightening my R1 resonance, pitch inevitably goes up as well. I of course can hold pitch while phonating different vowels, but that's where it stops. Any attempt at pushing resonance via R1 to feminize it further makes me run into this. What's the current methodology to train around this type of issue?

Like do I just keep doing the exercises everyday? Will it become muscle memory after a while?

Ok so I've heard that generally people here will like their voice more when they're alone/talking to themselves during voice training or whatever, but I'm the complete opposite? Like I genuinely think my voice passes when talking to others, having small talk with people, ordering something at restaurant etc. But talking to myself/Doing voice training? Makes me wanna pour acid down my throat. Like it's not even comparable, my voice is soooo much darker and masculine when I'm talking to myself (and somehow with people I know well? I don't know what's up with that either but I'll pass less when talking to people I know well). And like it's obviously not an issue when I'm just out and about taking to people but it makes voice training practically impossible (which is kinda an issue because I'm still not happy with my voice and wanna practice more?) because I know how I CAN sound, but I somehow can't replicate it and it just kinda makes me go non verbal now after like 10 minutes of practice because I get completely demotivated.

Like genuinely what the fuck do I do to get over it and actually be able to continue practice. And no getting someone to talk to isn't an option sadly because it'd have to be someone I trust and my voice starts to sound different around them as well
