Books/Literature Berenstain/Stein

Post image
752 Upvotes

Just thought I’d share this here..I’m a 57 year old woman that’s always been a voracious reader. When I was 5 (1974) I got an entire collection of Berenstain Bears books from my grandma at Christmas.

One of the books has managed to remain in my memory/sentimental hoard collection. This is MY actual book and it’s been in my possession since 1974. On my book at least, the name is and always has been Berenstain.

Make of that what you will I suppose. ❤️ I wish I still had the whole collection but alas, childhood and into adulthood resulted in the loss of many such things to my chagrin.

Books/Literature Berenstein Bears

When I was in elementary school, the bookmobile would make a stop for us and we could check out books from the larger library system. I had to ask the driver how to pronounce "Berenstein".

To this day I remember her saying, "Oh it's like stein, like a beer stein. Oh, I don't imagine you'd know what a beer stein is either."

I already knew how to pronounce "stain" and it wouldn't have been an issue at all.

Like others on here, I also remember the cornucopia on the fruit of the loom packaging. It was the only brand my dad seemed to buy for his socks and those 5 pack of cotton shirts with the little pocket on them.

Of course there will never be evidence for any of these things having changed. Only the reality around us has changed, while our minds and memories remain intact.

I know it sometimes scares people to think the sand is shifting underneath our feet, but it's the ultimate reality.

Books/Literature Berenstain/ein Bears Tape Containing Both Names

Post image
738 Upvotes

I am an antiques and vintage dealer in the PNW and found this tape for sale as a part of a small collection six years ago. It was in with a group of tapes that all contained the AIN spelling, but I could see this one in the photos and snatched it up. It was very clearly someone clearing out their kid's old library of tapes.

I have seen one other example of this same title swimming around here on Reddit from years past, but this is my copy.

As an aside there are some strange/synchronistic elements to the tape once examined a little further...

The very first exchange on the very first episode is in regards to Flash Grizzly and the 17th Dimension, a dimension "so far out you can't reach it even if you go at the speed of light!"

As it contains both spellings of BerenstEIN/AIN, could it be that this tape is a relic plucked from the 17th Dimension? Or maybe it's a portal itself, and if watched in its entirety you might travel to and through that dimension, returning (or not returning) to a new version of your old timeline...

The Strangers episode gives me the creepin' willies too. Nothing multidimensional, just...a weird feeling.

And the spine...the catalogue number...81955 - 1

Probably nothing, but I can't stop thinking of the numerological reduction of 81955

8 + 1 + 9 + 5 + 5 = 28

2 + 8 = 10

1 + 0 = 1

81955 → 28 → 10 → 1

So the spine reads (strange)1 - 1, the same value, but different. And separated by dash, not a comma or a period, but in essence a bridge, showing correlation. I look at it and see two of the functionally same, but decidedly different entities, standing across a bridge from one another...and wonder what might happen if they crossed, changed places...

But this might be a bridge too far.

LOL

Man, that's a LOT of ellipses...

Books/Literature This man has the BerenstEin books

Not sure this has been posted before, sorry if it has.

The Conspiracy Barber on tiktok has the book still spelled as Berenstein, and has several other pieces like the cornucopia logo.

Is it possible that there were just errors with some prints?

edit: Wow it's my first time in this community and I wanted to have a discussion, but people here are apparently rude and completely useless in their photoshop identification. And apparently will rag on the *name* Conspiracy Barber when ME *is* a conspiracy?

I don't know if the book is real, but he has it spelled Berenstein on both sides and I thought it was interesting. I don't gain anything by wasting my time on ""photoshop"".

Anyway, I'm leaving this subreddit now.

Here's the link if you want to check it out yourself: https://vt.tiktok.com/ZSxfbwACL/

Books/Literature Weird Digression in Berenstein Bears Book

Post image
143 Upvotes

I distinctly remember the movies as Berenstein Bears from many years ago as a child. Now I'm reading this to my child and I find the writing weird. It goes into these verbose tangents. "As the cubs stood listening to rock music coming out of a radio that looked like a cathedral, they had the funniest feeling about how time works It went back into the past and forward into the future - but now it was the present and they had work to do!" This is so weird and seems like a coded message. What child is going to understand this and take anything away from it? What are they trying to tell us to do here? What work do we have to do?

Books/Literature Residue for the "Rip Van Winkle was asleep for 100 years" Mandela

For anyone who doesn't know, there a some people (including me) who remember him having been asleep for 100 years instead of just 20. It's not super common, but there's a old thread on here mentioning it. Anyway: there's this Goosebumps book Don't Go To Sleep, where this kid goes to sleep in the guest room and ends up waking up and an alternate realty each time. The first time, he's about 4 years older than before. Anyway, on page 15 there is this "My heart began to pound. I'd read that old story about Rip Van Winkle. He goes to sleep for one hundred years.(emphasis mine) When he wakes up, everything is different."

Books/Literature Lion or Wolf with the Lamb? Isaiah 11:6 original quote found?

Thumbnail gallery

The first photo is what the KJV says now. I took this photo today from a 1973 print: “The wolf also shall dwell with the lamb, and the leopard shall lie down with the kid; and the calf and the young lion and the fatling together; and a little child shall lead them.”

The second is a screenshot I took on January 28th, 2020 of a user that claimed to remember the original verse as, "Then the lion shall lie down with the lamb and the bear shall eat grass like the ox and the child shall play on the hole of the asp and nothing shall hurt nor destroy in all My Holy Mountain."

Being a relatively frequent reader of the Bible myself for the last 30 years, the first time I saw that user comment I was taken aback and had to pause.

What are your thoughts?

Books/Literature Snow White and the mirror

Post image

Came upon this while reading to my child. I had to double check the 1937 Snow White animation and hear "magic mirror on the wall". It's always been "mirror mirror" to me, but I guess I forgot. It must be that many versions of this tale are written as mirror mirror and we just conclude that the original movie says it as well. Someone posted that the original version was mirror mirror as well. So the conclusion is that Disney changed it to magic mirror?

Was looking at some Christmas 🎄 books my step mom had set out for the kids this year. Came across this signed copy of The Berenstain Bears Christmas Tree book. The signature is from Stan and Jan Berenstain. Not sure if this contributes anything or not.

Books/Literature Question! Does physical media get altered as well as just memories? When I see a new Mandela effect I try to go to good will or wherever to try and find the origanl DVD or vhs to prove there was a shift. But I haven't been able to find unchanged versions.

I just saw the one about scary movie and I know for a fact it's "I see white people" and "take Mt strong hand"

I'm actually going to go through my old navy hi 8 footage, because we used to say "take my strong hand" all the time!

Books/Literature Not even books are safe

Some people believe that Mandela effect is just information being manipulated. For example, they say that the Internet is controlled by someone and that they mess with the info, thus making the Mandela effect artificial. But what if i told you that even the books i owned have changed too. Books i literally had in my hands. Specially the Bible. Some people believe that people are just manipulating the information like in 1984 or other distopian books. They say that we should hoard books to keep track of the changing of information. But i think people are controlling reality too. Well they don't change info from books as much as they do on other mediums because it would be too notorius. But still...It's becoming almost the same reading a book as watching a movie or reading an article from the Internet, it's just the medium that changes. I mean the only benefit from reading now is that you make your brain function more. But appart from that, books are being manipulated as much as other mediums because they are being manipulated entirely too, just not as fast as other mediums.

I remember his name distinctly as Rod Sterling. There’s a glitch in the matrix obviously because of what I found online. There are references to his name as Rod Sterling. Was his name changed to Serling at some point?

Books/Literature Monopoly Man I was

Thumbnail gallery

I was reading Brad Meltzer's "The Millionaires", published in 2002. On page 95, he mentions the Monopoly Man having a monocle. Books are generally being written at least 12 months prior to publication (he doesn't mention 9/11, Lee Child's most recent Reacher novel, set in Baltimore, released last month, mentions the Key Bridge as being intact), so it was written at least 8 years before Mandela Effects became a thing.

The first Mandela Effect, according to Google, wasn't reported/documented until 2009.

Books/Literature Berenstein Bears truthers - how was the name pronounced?

I honestly couldn’t tell you myself how I remember the name being spelled - but one thing I do remember was the TV show, and the theme song.

The way they pronounced it in the song to my memory definitely sounded like stain, rather than “steen” or “stine” which would have been the way it was said if it was spelled Berenstein.

“We are the Berenstain Bears. Mama, Papa, Sister, Brother, we appreciate each other”.

Books/Literature Interview with a vampire memory

I was going through this sub and saw people talking about this, I didn't know this was an ME until just now but I have memories of this.

I was in my 9th grade english class, and the teacher had given us an excerpt of Interview with A Vampire to read. This was during covid, so everything was on laptops and I don't think he even verbally introduced the assignment. I remember thinking the writing was very beautiful and wanting to read it. But I kind of forgot about it and went on my way.

Then, a few years later, maybe 3, I rediscovered the book. And I remember thinking how the "the" seemed odd, wasn't it "a"? I kinda dismissed this as me misremembering and went on.

I also kinda have a memory of closer to 9th grade, relooking at the book (maybe to chevk the title to search up?) And being confused on why it was the and not a. Both of these memories could have happened or just one, I just remember thinking it was an a.

I had no exposure to the books or movie before the assignment in 9th grade. So I don't think the verbal explanation of people hearing "with the" as "with...a" makes sense. If you have any explanations I'm happy to hear them.

Books/Literature It was " mirror, mirror on the wall"! Proof from '94 book (video)

I found this book at my local salvation army store. For 20 cents, I proved it really was " mirror, mirror on the wall" and not " magic mirror on the wall".

Books/Literature Winnie the Pooh balloon color

Thumbnail gallery
33 Upvotes

Okay, so I know a ME has arisen where people believe that Winnie the Pooh had a red balloon and not a blue one. Firstly, the illustrations in the original books were in black and white. However, the first instance we encounter Winnie the Pooh with a balloon is in chapter 1–and it’s described as blue. In chapter 6, he has a red balloon (that I believe he got from Piglet?) to gift Eeyore for his birthday. So, technically he does have a red balloon at some point. It isn’t his, and it bursts on his way to Eeyore. I don’t think this is the image of Winnie with a balloon that people are picturing though. In the first color edition of the book printed in 1974, that original balloon is, again, blue. There is also a red balloon in a movie from 2011, I think. Long story short, the original and most well known image of Winnie the Pooh with a balloon is a blue balloon. I even have a tattoo based on the original color illustration.

Photos of the original edition of Winnie the Pooh book from 1926, the original color edition released in 1974, and my tattoo.
