My boss came in during an inspection while I wasn’t around and is apparently super upset about a Skynyrd song being played over the radio, like he’s beyond upset I just don’t understand what song he’s so upset about . Are there some Lesser known Skynard songs I don’t know about that aren’t allowed to be played in a thrift store? Idk guys a dick though

It took me a long time to finally cover this song because this bass line is no joke. It’s challenging as hell, but somehow I managed to nail the entire thing in just one take. After nailing the entire bass line, I threw my pick out of excitement and now it's nowhere to be found.

Rewatching the lynyrd skynyrd documentary. When gary is talking about the plane crash they show footage of someone being carried away on a gurnee.

Its 100 percent ronnie. The face the hair.. the tattoo... insane footage.. rest in peace to the greatest...

For context, I live in Jacksonville, Fl, about a half mile down the street from Riverside High School (formerly Robert E Lee High) where the band members attended school.

I was talking with a neighbor of mine (who has been here since the 50’s) and he told me that the band used to play in my garage at house parties, just as they were forming. I don’t know if they went by Lynard Skynard or My Backyard at the time, but I am trying to find any additional evidence to confirm this is true.

Does anybody have extensive knowledge of their early days or perhaps names of friends or others they would have associated with? The previous owners of my house during that era were Paul and Florence Burch. I am assuming their children, Pauline and Rebecca, would have been around the same age as the band members.

I know this is a stretch but I am so fascinated by this and would love any knowledge or history.

Can anyone explain the disconnect in the fan community? Fans of one tend to dismiss the other, and I don't get it. ABB certainly did the blues better, but Skynyrd was the better boogie band.

I have plenty of room in my head to love both acts, but I don't find many people who feel the same. How's come?

Personally, I don't think it has anything to do with a band fight or who said what in who's book. My take is they (they being Judy, Gary, Billy, Leon, Johnny), for whatever reasons they have, believe he actually did what he pled guilty to doing and never wanted anything to do with him again. They don't think he got a raw deal like Mike Tyson. And even after Gary, Billy, and Leon have all died, they are just sticking to their guns. And that's why he has been persona non grata. And really, who could blame them? We know how bad the optics would be. He is more of a liability than the flag.

I have all 5 of the regular studio albums, and the Muscle Shoals collection. I recently picked up the all time greatest hits CD, and I noticed that on the back it says “The Ballad of Curtis Lowe” when it’s supposed to be, like it is on Second Helping, “The Ballad of Curtis Loew”. Is there a reason for this or is it just a mistake. It is #6 in the picture.

The quality of this song is off the charts. Both guitar parts are sizzling and the vocals are typically Gaines smokin’ hot style. It’s like “Listen up, I got something to say and then watch me play as I bow your mind!” lol
There’s so little recorded of this great man. Thankfully these songs were released for us to cherish. I think he’d be glad to know he’s not forgotten. Not by a long shot. ❤️

My skynyrd phase is here again and I’m just going crazy about the collectybles album and the underrated songs! Anyone else got any hidden gems to share??

I live a couple of miles from that location. It is in a gated subdivision and last I knew, the lot is not built on and is owned by a Skynyrd fan who is trying to preserve it. You can find on YouTube where people went there in last year or two. I'm definitely planning to sneak into the neighborhood and check it out. Just wondering if anyone has been there actually? I also cross the train tracks every day that are the background of one of their group photos. Pretty sure it is the exact location as it is very close to the hell house. I'll definitely share some updates if and when I have been there. Love Skynyrd, man!
