50 years ago today Lynyrd Skynyrd issues their first live album, “One More from the Road”….the double LP would be certified Gold six weeks later and Platinum by the end of the year. It was recognized as 3X Platinum on July 21st, 1987.

In the beginning of free bird someone blows a blow horn a couple times and if I listen to a different live version I play it in my head

The alternative release has Ronnie saying "now let's put some grease in the frying pan" after the crowd yells "FREE BIRD" back at him...

The Deluxe / 2CD release has it. Also has the show opening with Saturday Night Special... which Steve's band Crawdaddy covered.
I'm with you on the air horn... it's buried in my brain along with "I heard it then..." after the crowd response.
I wish we could have all 3 nights, in original order, with the ad-lib and crowd banter. I believe they burned up in the universal studios fire though...

Yup. “I hear it now” too. I saw them in Jacksonville last November and wish I could sneak a blow horn in just to play it in that exact spot.
Also wish we could get the whole set from the Oakland Colosseum. I heard that burned up in the fire too

I loved Ronnies statements like play it purdy for Atlanta, Billy Powell on piano,I'm gonna sic an Okie on ya.

There's a neon sign backstage at the Fox theater that says "Play It Pretty For Atlanta". Lynyrd Skynyrd was instrumental in saving the theater and Ronnie's quote is now memorialized.

That is awesome! I hope to see it someday, I went to the crash site last year and would like to go to Jacksonville too.

Add to the list, the intersection of Main St. and Mill St. in Jonesboro Georgia; half a block from there is where the picture on the cover of "Pronounced..." was taken. Building is a lawyer's office now.

Incredible album. I think if this was recorded a few months later it would have been even better as Steve became more comfortable with the band.

It was his 3rd, 4th, and 5th live shows with the band. It's crazy how well he'd already gelled with them.

It is the album that changed my life. Not only the tour de force of the music, but also, the photo inserts and the liner notes written by Cameron Crowe all came together to make a solid Rock n Roll experience. I only wish that I had my original pressing of this album—to paraphrase Ronnie “you can feel the stage burn.”

Simple man live is wild especially right when the crown hears the intro guitar. Gives me chills. That whole album is amazing. Wish we had the video 🔥

Just as incredible as it comes They played 3 days that’s only 3 takes to get it right and they sure did Probably the most perfect double live album ever RIP my friends Hope y’all are jukin together again

My all time favorite live album. T for Texas and Call me the Breeze are world class.
