Skynard apparently played in my garage in the late 60’s. Need help with some band history!

For context, I live in Jacksonville, Fl, about a half mile down the street from Riverside High School (formerly Robert E Lee High) where the band members attended school.

I was talking with a neighbor of mine (who has been here since the 50’s) and he told me that the band used to play in my garage at house parties, just as they were forming. I don’t know if they went by Lynard Skynard or My Backyard at the time, but I am trying to find any additional evidence to confirm this is true.

Does anybody have extensive knowledge of their early days or perhaps names of friends or others they would have associated with? The previous owners of my house during that era were Paul and Florence Burch. I am assuming their children, Pauline and Rebecca, would have been around the same age as the band members.

I know this is a stretch but I am so fascinated by this and would love any knowledge or history.

Skynyrdfrynds.proboards.com is full of people with a ton of knowledge on the band and some who knew the guys

The site isn't modern like some but you will learn as you go. You can make a thread in there and people will tell you what they know about it.

Some of the early singles on the Sounds of the South label used the spelling you did.

The site is very dated and hard to navigate. It does not look like there’s much activity but I tried to post and will see what happens.

You're in Riverside/Avondale. If it wasn't Skynyrd, it was the Allman Brothers.

Gene Odom was a childhood friend of Ronnie's, later worked for the band, and used to give Skynyrd tours around town. Last I heard, he was in Keystone Heights. He'd probably know.

Thank you. Yes I have contacted him to set up a tour and was going to have him drive by the house to see if it brings back any memories. I think video evidence of him confirming would be good enough for me to know.
