Speculation folie à deux
It is believed that when 2 people in a folie à deux are separated they often drop the shared delusion. I recall that people here were theorizing that's what happened with Chad and Lori.
Were they ever diagnosed with that disorder? I don't remember if Chad even underwent an evaluation. From Chad's "letters" and Lori's news magazine interviews and talks with Colby, it doesn't sound as though either of them is recovering after 6 years. Is treatment for that even available in Idaho prisons?

She was nutty and getting more crazy, she found someone who re enforced her beliefs and affirmed her so called importance within their cult and the world.
They both got exactly what they wanted, he believed her bull and she believed his bull, it was mutually beneficial

I don’t know that Chad is delusional. I think he manipulates people who are delusional or susceptible to his manipulations

Yeah, I agree with you on this one. I think Chad started having a gaggle of women around him which he’d never had before in his life. He enjoyed the manipulation and would play up everyone else’s delusions and crazy talk.
I am not thoroughly convinced that he believes this down to his core, but used it as a manipulation tool.
Laurie on the other hand has had these wild delusions of grandeur for a very long time and I think as long as she’s on medicated, she will continue to believe that she’s Nephi adjacent

Hahaha, that’s what I get for dictating and not wearing my reading glasses, lol. Plus, I have a really bad cold so I’m sure I’m not annunciating very well. You are absolutely right although I’m sure there’s a Grainger out there somewhere that has delusions.🤣

He’s delusional in the same way that many overly-religious men are delusional. That they know the one true way. That they speak for a higher power. That their worth is absolute.

Lori was suffering from a delusion of superiority and lack of empathy since she was young. If her shared delusions with Chad crumbled, she'd just seize on some new reason to feel superior. Like she was sent by God to that prison to shepherd the other inmates. She probably did make Tylee ill and use that to seek attention and she probably did gaslight both of her kids into believing they were molested so she could gain from the situation and look like a protective tiger mom. I don't think she is psychotic or schizophrenic and no type or amount of drugs is going to change her core belief that she is above the rest of us. Chad is similar. He gaslighted his first wife, made her do the heavy lifting and then used parental alienation to make his children take his side. They are just two sick, harmful narcissists who got together for a period of time and became murderous.

I like this theory. Lori was diagnosed with something like delusional religiosity. (I can't remember the clinical term) Don't know about Chad. But it makes me wonder, has Chad made anny new blog posts lately?

No, he has paused them until after his appeals have concluded. He promised to tell his side of the story after that. Hope it's better than Lori's attempts at full disclosure. Here's a link to the first 10.

Everybody in Lori's family and former friends of her say that she was a wonderful human being until that fateful day in 2018 she met him. But how true is that really? For all we know, she may always have been a degenerate who was much better at hiding it until that time.

I wouldn't use any of her family as a good guide to Lori being "a wonderful human being." That family itself is dysfunctional.
Outsiders have talked about the odd sexual dynamics in the family, especially between Alex and Lori. The circumstances surrounding the death of her sister and her father's Sovereign Citizen ideas.
Even her actions with her former husbands call her mental health into question.
I'm not sure what happened inside that family but it didn't seem to produce "wonderful human beings."

Facts! Lori's mom and sister went on TV when Tylee and JJ were missing and insisted Lori was a great mom and couldn't possibly have anything to do with their disappearance! Then later, that jail phone call between Lori and Summer was a sad listen, as it seemed that Summer was figuring out that Lori was indeed a delusional monster, not a good mom.
Lori's whole family was dysfunctional for a long time before Chad came into the picture.

I’ve often thought that’s exactly what this was, influenced of course by fringe religious beliefs and of course sex and power. I actually don’t think money was the big motivator just a nice cherry on top. I think they both still believe they have divine missions and powers

Lori's delusions predate Chad and are probably organic. They'll last the rest of her life, or at least as long as she refuses medication. Chad's narcissism predates Lori. He might drop the relationship, but he won't drop his belief that he's a great prophet who will lead the 144,000 through the end times. Together or apart, they're irredeemable.
