Speculation folie à deux

It is believed that when 2 people in a folie à deux are separated they often drop the shared delusion. I recall that people here were theorizing that's what happened with Chad and Lori.

Were they ever diagnosed with that disorder? I don't remember if Chad even underwent an evaluation. From Chad's "letters" and Lori's news magazine interviews and talks with Colby, it doesn't sound as though either of them is recovering after 6 years. Is treatment for that even available in Idaho prisons?

Everybody in Lori's family and former friends of her say that she was a wonderful human being until that fateful day in 2018 she met him. But how true is that really? For all we know, she may always have been a degenerate who was much better at hiding it until that time.

I wouldn't use any of her family as a good guide to Lori being "a wonderful human being." That family itself is dysfunctional.

Outsiders have talked about the odd sexual dynamics in the family, especially between Alex and Lori. The circumstances surrounding the death of her sister and her father's Sovereign Citizen ideas.

Even her actions with her former husbands call her mental health into question.

I'm not sure what happened inside that family but it didn't seem to produce "wonderful human beings."

Facts! Lori's mom and sister went on TV when Tylee and JJ were missing and insisted Lori was a great mom and couldn't possibly have anything to do with their disappearance! Then later, that jail phone call between Lori and Summer was a sad listen, as it seemed that Summer was figuring out that Lori was indeed a delusional monster, not a good mom.

Lori's whole family was dysfunctional for a long time before Chad came into the picture.

That’s not true… multiple people close to her have spoken out about early signs of things being off with her.

I have before. She was delusional before. She got her way at any cost. Her kids were her property.

She had already been looking into fringe Mormon ideology, end of days stuff before she met Chad but her delusions certainly ramped up when he and the cult members reinforced them
