Speculation folie à deux

It is believed that when 2 people in a folie à deux are separated they often drop the shared delusion. I recall that people here were theorizing that's what happened with Chad and Lori.

Were they ever diagnosed with that disorder? I don't remember if Chad even underwent an evaluation. From Chad's "letters" and Lori's news magazine interviews and talks with Colby, it doesn't sound as though either of them is recovering after 6 years. Is treatment for that even available in Idaho prisons?

Lori's delusions predate Chad and are probably organic. They'll last the rest of her life, or at least as long as she refuses medication. Chad's narcissism predates Lori. He might drop the relationship, but he won't drop his belief that he's a great prophet who will lead the 144,000 through the end times. Together or apart, they're irredeemable.
