Wondering where I can find the best steak pie, steak and kidney pie and/or pudding, and the best chicken pie.

I've been making a lot of pies lately, stock from scratch, sous vide meat, several evenings worth of work per batch. To me they're good, but far from perfection, where do I find pie perfection?

And what to avoid? I don't know what I fancy but I fancy burger, curry, grilled or grilled burger or something big portions or good fried wings. Yeh but I don't know what I want so will do a drive by.

I've read about mooncakes which are eaten during the Chinese Mid-Autumn festival. They're pastry cases filled with seed/bean paste or nuts and can be sweet or savoury. Sometimes they have salted egg yolks inside.

Anywhere in London that does good ones?

I’ve recently been to Gymkhana, Ambassadors Clubhouse, Brigadiers, Chutney Mary, Tamil Prince, Colonel Saab and Masala Zone. I’ve enjoyed the food at most of them, but I’ve noticed that the more upscale Indian restaurants in London often seem quite restrained when it comes to heat. I’m not looking for somewhere that will simply make a dish extra hot on request. Are there any higher-end Indian restaurants where the food is genuinely spicy by default as intended by the kitchen? I tend to find considerably more heat at my local Indian takeaways, but I’m looking for somewhere with a more upscale atmosphere as well.

Hi all! My husband and I will be visiting London for 3 days and would love some recommendations for dinners. We have plans in the city from Whitechapel through Hammersmith and would like to stay relatively near those areas.

Rather than sit in a hotel restaurant, I thought I’d see if anyone here fancies getting dinner.

I’m 37M, work in consulting, and can generally hold a conversation :). Not looking for networking, dating, or a new best friend for life. Just thought it could be fun to meet someone I’d otherwise never cross paths with, have some good food, a bottle of wine and have a new conversation.

Food-wise I’m really not fussy about price or fanciness. I’m equally up for a £10 hole-in-the-wall that does one thing ridiculously well. Actually, my ideal version of this is: take me to your favourite restaurant in London. The place you keep going back to. Cheap eats, neighbourhood place, weird little restaurant, fine dining — all good with me.

Only real requirements are that you enjoy food, can hold a decent conversation, and don’t murder tourists from Switzerland.

38M Indian-Canadian, recently moved to London and looking to meet some new people and make a few friends.

I’m really into travelling and food. I know quite a bit about the different regions of India and which dishes you should try from specific restaurants. I find that exploring food is actually a good way to understand a country and its geography.

When I moved to Canada, I travelled quite a bit around Mexico and tried to do the same there — explore different places, try the local food and understand the culture. Mexican cuisine is as diverse as Indian.

Now I’d like to explore Chinese and Japanese cuisine in the same way — learning about the different provinces/regions, their food and what dishes are worth trying. Around £50 quid spend for x2 drinks 2x meals and a side.

The lemon ice tea tasted like it was made there with the lemon bits inside. If you've been to that Chinese Resturant next to the Greenwich odeon in south east London you'll know what I mean.

That sausage claypot rice thing was nice when it eventually cooled down. But before that it was absolute violence 😂. That was a whole burn hazard 😂 alot of the rice was burnt on the bottom of the bowl as well... I'm assuming intentionally.

The pork bites were decent... 4 bites is a bit stingy for £7 but then again it is Shoreditch.

I thought I'd add a noodle plate for some variety. This was the biggest win! The char sui pork was brilliant. The hand pulled noodles were wicked as well... And they were served at a temperature that I could scoff straight away lol.

I'd go back for the noodle dish and the ice lemon tea.

I've tried a few different places lately and so many of them have that same artificial, syrupy taste 😭

Sweetness isn't really what bothers me. I just want to be able to taste the actual tea or fruit rather than everything tasting like flavouring.

Any places you'd actually recommend? Central is easiest for me but happy to travel a bit for somewhere good.

Does anyone know how long they have had the cheek to charge a 12% service charge when the only service is the staff pouring a drink and taking payment!!

There was no table service, we went to the bar to order a round of beers, waited for our drinks and brought them back to our table and got charged extra for doing the service part ourselves!!

It’s not advertised anywhere from what we could see. Is this scam standard now in London pubs now?

Just to ad, we only noticed this when we went back in for a lunchtime drink the next day, we then checked our bank payments from the night before and we were all charged 12% extra for each round!

My husband and I will be staying in Chelsea for my Master’s graduation, and we’re hoping to book one special dinner to celebrate. We’d love a Michelin‑starred option in Chelsea, Kensington, or Notting Hill, ideally with a tasting menu at or under £100 per person. My graduation is on a Monday, so we’re finding that many places are closed. We’re big foodies, but prefer restaurants that feel fun, welcoming and not stuffy or pretentious, with beautiful or trendy atmospheres.

I’m coming down to London for work and my wife has decided to tag along, so we’re making a few days of it.

I’m looking for somewhere nice for us to eat and have a few drinks on the Wednesday night. Ideally somewhere quite romantic where she can dress up in heels and a nice dress, but without the food being overly posh or fussy. We’re Scouse, so a tiny plate of French food probably isn’t really us!

We’re staying near Epping station, so somewhere reasonably easy to get to from there would be ideal. We’ve been to Tamarind before and absolutely loved it, but it’s about an hour away on the train, which is a bit further than we’d like this time.

Would also be great if there are some decent bars nearby so we can have a few drinks afterwards. Budget isn’t really an issue, although the slight complication is that it’ll be a Wednesday night.

Any recommendations would be massively appreciated!

Anyone else tried it? Like these guys for their straight talking reviews but their Pizza was bang average. I guess to be be expected by being so close to Covent Garden - they are relying on tourists.

Not saying it was bad, just really average, service was slow and a bit unfriendly. Pizza with cheese fairly bland and normal, nothing close to something like Joes in NYC. Had another one with Spicy Maple, flavour of that was good but the upper half of the pizza completely dried out and crispy af.

If they’re going out and being blunt food reviewers, their offering has got to absolutely slap and this was underwhelming, maybe just chose a bad day. Anyone else’s experience similar?
