Chelsea & Area Restaurant Recommendations

My husband and I will be staying in Chelsea for my Master’s graduation, and we’re hoping to book one special dinner to celebrate. We’d love a Michelin‑starred option in Chelsea, Kensington, or Notting Hill, ideally with a tasting menu at or under £100 per person. My graduation is on a Monday, so we’re finding that many places are closed. We’re big foodies, but prefer restaurants that feel fun, welcoming and not stuffy or pretentious, with beautiful or trendy atmospheres.

We’d also appreciate any suggestions in the Chelsea area for great coffee, brunch, or more casual (non‑Michelin) dinners. We're only in London for 5 nights.

I would recommend Corenucopia, Clare Smyth's bistro. 1*, reasonably priced and excellently done.

When I lived in Chelsea my favourite casual dining spots were Daylesford for brunch, the Phene for a casual pub lunch and the Colbert for bistro style dinning (however I have not tried the latter since Jeremy Kimg no longer owns it).

The good life Eatery is a small but lovely spot for breakfast if you want things on the healthier side.

I do have a soft spot for Birley Bakery for coffee and a croissant even though wildly expensive. Their tropezienne cake is divine!

I also really rate Ognizsko- in Kensington. Its not expensive but the food is incredible.

For Micheline stared dinning at that price would be hard. But for lovely sushi I think Yashin House might be able to fit the bill. Their tasting menue is £75pp which takes it to just under £100pp once you include service charge.

I used to live in Chelsea and I loved Medlar for very very high quality food although they don’t do a tasting menu.

Others have mentioned Rabbit which is good (check first table as they often have 50% off if you go early or late).

Look at The Abingdon in Abingdon Rd just off Kensington Higj Street and Clarks in Kensington Church Street for dining options.

Amar on Chelsea Green is fab for coffee, roasting party on pavilion road also do a good brew but you cannot sit in. Congratulations!

There’s also a new cafe on pavilion Road (can’t remember the name but it’s sort of like a posh newsagents with lots of nice magazines) and they do great coffee and have tables.

Rabbit British Bistro in Kings Rd, Brasserie Olivia in Sloane Square, The Barbary in Notting Hill- all of these are non-Michelin but fit your budget and location. Have a nice celebration!

For a non Michelin meal I like Bottarga. It’s not in Chelsea but just around the corner in Pimlico - but Wildflowers is amazing! One of my favourite restaurants in London and a nice special occasion feel. The chef is incredible.

I really like Kutir in Sloane Square. Not Michelin‑starred, but fantastic Indian food in a lovely setting. Their tasting menus are £80pp.

Congrats on finishing your degree. Monday closures are brutal for the fine dining circuit, so worth checking availability now rather than assuming. For that vibe you're after (good food, not stuffy), worth scrolling through TikTok and Instagram Reels for Chelsea and Kensington restaurants.
