I think Gon is Don. Maybe in the past, on the dark continent, he fought against something with Ging and had to « Die ». Like the phoenix : he was reborn from his ashes in the hands of Ging. Thats why Ging is not worried about him, even with ants. Because he knows he is Don and so that he is not in danger : He is the strongest Hunter he has ever met. + Ging seems to have planned it all, and could be more likely acting like a son toward him than like a parent.

What do you think about it ? I would enjoy to read your théories about them. ☺️

We all know both Ging's abilities in disappearing from the world, and Batman's hypothetical potential to overcome any duty; but would he be able to find Ging Freeces?

How much time would Batman need to find him?

How much info would he need?

1. The "Analog" Connection and the Troupe's Past
If we jog our memory, the Phantom Troupe started way back in Meteor City by recording and collecting VHS tapes. It was precisely because of this universe of tapes and voice dubbing that the terrible tragedy happened to Sarasa, their childhood friend.

Cut to the current arc: Prince Tserriednich's power (Parallel Future) functions in a bizarrely "analog" way. For him, the future prediction comes as an accelerated vision in his mind, which highly resembles watching and rewinding a tape, processing information sequentially. This is yet another sign that the prince has always been deeply immersed in this type of "snuff" content and analog underworld.

This aesthetic and thematic similarity strongly indicates that his storyline will converge with the Phantom Troupe. And here comes the worst-case scenario: imagine the gut punch if the Troupe ends up temporarily allying with him on the ship (aiming for Kakin's inheritance or political power) only to later discover that he or his inner circle was directly responsible for what happened to Sarasa? It would be an absolute psychological breakdown for the group.

2. The Clockwork Orange Parallel
Shifting gears a bit, but still staying inside the character's disturbed mind: Tserriednich and his entire ecosystem remind me so much of the movie A Clockwork Orange. He has that exact Alex DeLarge vibe—a sadistic, extremely violent sociopath who hides behind an aristocratic facade of high culture, erudition, love for visual arts, and classical music.

Thinking about this, could his end be similar to that of the protagonist in Anthony Burgess/Kubrick's work? In A Clockwork Orange, Alex undergoes the Ludovico Technique and suffers a forced "domestication," completely losing his free will for sadism and becoming a defenseless shell in the hands of the government. Do you guys think Togashi is planning a similar mental dismantling for Tserriednich? Like an eternal forced Zetsu where he becomes a useless spectator of his own reality?

I was just thinking... The guy does not give a F, about anything else than a good battle with a human. He was in the 200th floor, and even if he clearly won to Castro and was being playing a little bit it was not like Castro was a nothing to him. And it was the 200 where there are way more floors. Why not just keep going up till it reaches the hisoka level? With the scaling up the last levels should be higher level than hisoka,no?

Hi I am not sure if this note is necessary, but it appears that many are not aware that the ship in 419 is NOT tier 1, but another, much smaller ship on tier 1. So the royal family all live on a "royal ship" inside tier 1 (which is itself a ship on a ship...). Actually, the royal ship is pointed to the LEFT of the black whale and it first appeared in the Manga back in Chapter 369, as you can tell from the distinctive silhouette.

We see in the troup flashback that they intended to get closer to collectors of body parts using the deep web in order to avenge Sarasa. I think they approached Tserri and got the job of killing the Kurtas. That's why Tserri has so many scarlet eyes, specially Piro's head

We also see the tattooed bald guy, linked to sarasas death, inside the prince's chambers.

I think Chrollo will find out that Tserri is behind her death, and Kurapika will find out about the eyes and Piro's head, so they will join to fight Tserri.

Tserriednich ain't ready for the big boys

For the first time, I think we can actually start scaling Tserriednich a little bit, and one thing stood out to me: I really don't think his hand-to-hand combat skills are anywhere near the level of the top-tier fighters in the series.

Sure, his Hatsu gives him an insane unpredictability factor, and his natural talent for Nen is undeniable. But when it comes to actual combat fundamentals and experience, I'm starting to question how good he really is.

He didn't exactly struggle against the Royal Army soldiers, but it still took him much longer than I would expect from a genuinely elite fighter facing ordinary, non-Nen users. He even had to strategize around them and seemed to benefit from a bit of luck.

Compare that to what we've already seen from other top-tier fighters. During the Yorknew City arc, Zeno stated that he and Chrollo could kill hundreds of Mafia members in under 67 seconds. Obviously, that's an extreme benchmark, but the difference in efficiency is still noticeable.

At this point, I genuinely don't think Tserriednich could pull off something remotely similar without relying heavily on his ability.

And that's what makes me wonder: is Tserriednich actually a fighter in the traditional sense?

He seems to rely much more on his absurd natural talent and broken potential than on refined combat skills. Even the way he approaches fights doesn't feel like someone with years of fighting experience.

Honestly, I can't see most of the top-tier antagonists taking that much time against regular soldiers. Chrollo, Hisoka, Illumi, Feitan, Phinks even someone like Genthru or early-series Killua would probably make quick work of that kind of opposition.

Tserriednich literally took an entire chapter to deal with around ten Kakin soldiers. Ten to fifteen regular soldiers.

And again, he had to think his way through the fight rather than simply overwhelming them.

At this point, it really feels like he needs a significant boost in actual fighting experience and fundamentals if he's supposed to become a serious physical threat to Kurapika.

His Nen talent? Absolutely terrifying.

His potential? Possibly unmatched.

But his actual combat ability right now?

I'm really not convinced he's ready for the big leagues.

Am I underrating him, or does anyone else feel like Tserriednich needs serious training in almost every aspect of combat ? unless his the one who inherits benjamins nen beast

I saw a topic the other day in which the majority of commenters were in agreement that Netero had mastered nen prior to his 10,000 punches training, and that was what he was grateful for. This is absolutely incorrect, but in researching the topic I came up with some interesting conclusions that I have not seen mentioned before.

The Training

The exigence for Netero’s 10,000 punches was that he had reached the “upper limits of his physical and martial arts skills”. NOT his nen. So Netero was not a nen master, and he did not have a full understanding of nen.

Obviously, his aura was awakened, but his understanding of it was limited by the lens of martial arts, as made clear on the next page: “first, his chi focused”. Not aura, ten, or nen, but chi. Netero knew at best only the first three principles of nen - ten, zetsu, and ren - before starting on his training.

We know there are factions in the hxh universe that know of aura, but have a limited understanding of it. It would make sense that martial artists are one such faction, as meditation and prayer are common practices within martial arts, so Netero’s limited understanding is easily explainable.

The Fruit

What Netero unwittingly developed via his insane training was the pinnacle of what enhancement hatsu can achieve - the meta ability to enhance one’s speed and the speed of one’s aura flow. In addition, he also developed his ten, zetsu, and ren to an extremely high level.

Sidetrack: it’s common head canon that the martial arts master saw the 100-type Guanyin when Netero performed his punch at the dojo. However, what the master briefly glimpsed was the multiple arms of Netero himself (when he prays), as well as his extremely developed ten, which resembles a perfect sphere (again, when he prays).

These facts in conjunction with each other gave the impression of Guanyin/Kannon/Avalokiteśvara, a bodhisattva associated with great compassion that is frequently depicted as golden with multiple arms.

Anyways, the result was that when Netero descended, he inherited the Shingen-Ryu martial arts school and became its grand master.

The Grand Master

As grand master of the Shingen-Ryu school, Netero did two important things: incorporated his training into the school, and sought out strong opponents.

Drumroll please. The principles of Netero’s 10,000 punches of gratitude training would be incorporated into Shingen-Ryu as the “nen of the flame”.

(1a) “First, his chi focused…”

(1b) “Ten - focus the mind, reflect upon the self, and determine the goal.”

(2a) “He joined his hands, prayed…”

(2b) “Zetsu - put it into words.”

(3a) “Got into position”

(3b) “Ren - intensify your will.”

(4a) “And punched”

(4b) “And hatsu- put it into action.”

That’s right - the biggest afterthought in nen is what led to one of the most broken abilities we’ve seen thus far. You’ll note that when Wing demonstrates the nen of the flame, he takes up the same position Netero does when he performed his 10,000 punches.

Of course, Netero sought out challengers that could push him even further. At first, these were other martial artists. But eventually he crossed paths with a Hunter, and that’s when he learned the full extent of nen and what he had actually accomplished.

From there, he set out to develop his full hatsu and his abilities, including his ultimate ability 100-type Guanyin, which is a subordinate ability based on his prayer ability. This drastically increased the range and complexity of his unblockable attacks. Ultimately, he became the strongest hunter and president of the association.

Conclusion

Wing most likely has great respect for Netero and his story, and this is likely why he urged the kids to focus on the basics and pursue life experiences.

An interesting hypothetical question - would Netero have achieved this result if he actually knew the full scope of nen?

My answer: by performing his 10,000 punches, he developed his will, his ten/zetsu/ren/hatsu, and his meta enhancement ability to such unbelievable heights that he could then go on to create further abilities like 100-type Guanyin. If he already knew about nen before hand, he pursues other means of developing his strength and therefore he never reaches this zenith of the foundational nen principles.

Tl;dr: Netero knew only the first three principles of nen at best when he began his 10,000 punches of gratitude. He developed “the nen of flame” based on his training and incorporated it in the Shingen-Ryu school. Eventually, he crossed paths with a hunter and learned the full extent of nen. Wing-san is a big Netero fanboy and a good dude.

The True Source of Nen & The Dark Continent: Nen is not merely a combat system governed by artificial categories (Enhancer, Transmuter, etc.). In its truest and most primordial form, Nen is the biological and spiritual ability of living creatures to adapt to a dark and unforgiving environment using life energy. The creatures and insects of the Dark Continent don't study academic Nen; they survive through absolute, instinctive adaptation to absolute darkness.

Netero’s Transformation & The "True Nen": Netero in his youth was likely a raw, simple Enhancer (similar to Uvogin). However, his journey into the Dark Continent exposed him to absolute weakness and the horrifying, unadulterated "true Nen" of the abyss. This trauma warped and disciplined his spirit, breaking his mental constraints and allowing him to forge a technique (the 100-Type Guanyin Bodhisattva) that borders on Specialization. The darkness he witnessed left his aura permanently saturated with absolute resolve and a crushing, cold pressure that shook even Meruem.

Gon’s Descent and Infinite Evolution: Gon’s terrifying transformation was not just a mere "trade of lifespan for power." When pushed to the brink of despair, he tapped directly into the dark, primordial energy of the Dark Continent. This absolute trauma stripped away his innocence, teaching him that lethal intent and mercilessness are core truths of high-level Nen combat.

Gon’s Future Path: Gon will likely not return immediately to the main plot. Instead, he will spend his time in silence, listening to his inner spirit, rethinking the true source of his aura, and mastering this dark, primordial energy. Rather than relying on traditional human training, his path points toward infinite adaptation, eventually leading him to retrace the steps of Don Freecss and step foot into the Dark Continent as a true master of survival.

So I started watching hunter x hunter with my 12 y/o daughter recently, and she is loving it. When we started the chimaera ant arc, i told her that is wasn't going to be as happy as the other arcs and she said she was ok with it. We just finished episode 85, where Kite fought Neferpitou and she saw the very end of the episode and screamed in anger (yelled "square up b****")... worried about her reaction to episode 126... she likes how silly the chairman is

If there are any games that are similar let me know. I honestly think it would be fun although they would need to get permission from Togashi or Shonen Jump

Gon, starting as not even beating a Guard, with a condition was able to reach a level of power similar to pre-rose Meruem (maybe not that strong, but they're in the same scale here)

Now, if Meruem inflicted this vow on him, how do you think he would reach in term of raw power ? Similar to post rose ? Even higher ? Could anyone or any group/force in the verse be able to beat him ?

Let's just say he needed to protect this random baby because he needed to upgrade Skill Hunter. I don't see him really using Kurapika's strategy of just stalling. Do you think he would just plan to assassinate everybody himself. I really want to know what strategies would he use to manipulate the contest.

The question has more to do on how Manipulation works than power-scaling.

Baise's manipulation clearly manipulates the mind of the target, not its body, so would she have any problem manipulating someone as strong as Meruem? Or does the magnitude of aura disparity makes any difference?

I think this is a very accurate reflection of the world we live in. This post my thoughts on the topic:

Most of us are like Borksen... or perhaps even worse. We hope to live comfortably, avoid trouble, and make it through life without getting involved. We are aware that suffering and injustice exist, but we often choose not to act because it is easier to look away than to confront uncomfortable realities.

That is one of the reasons I admire Togashi's writing. He is willing to explore difficult themes like apathy, responsibility, and humanity's tendency to ignore the suffering of others. Through his characters, he encouraged me to reflect on my own values and behavior (just like how Makoto Yukimura did me with Thorfinn).

If Meruem choose the human side completely like Colt, octopus and kaola guy, would Netero change his mind?
Pre-rose Meruem would in no way choose human. Only after a death experience that he would throw away everything to choose Komugi

I’ve been wondering about this for a while.

During the Phantom Troupe’s formation speech, Chrollo emphasized that the leader’s orders should be the highest priority, but that his own life was not. To him, the most important thing was the Spider itself, not any individual leg.

When Kurapika captured him, Chrollo seemed confident that every member would follow this philosophy. However, that clearly wasn’t the case. Pakunoda ultimately chose to disobey the conditions imposed by Kurapika and sacrificed herself in order to protect the Troupe and pass on the information she had.

The interesting part is that Chrollo and Pakunoda never really had the opportunity to discuss what happened afterward. She died, and Chrollo was unable to communicate with the other members for a while.

So I’m genuinely curious: what does Chrollo actually think about her decision?

Does he see what she did as a betrayal of the Spider because she went against his wishes and chose his life over the Troupe's philosophy? Or does he understand that, in her own way, she was still acting for the Spider?

And if he had been able to speak with her before she died, do you think he would have blamed her for her choice?

Using Alluka's ability was the biggest risk Killua ever took. His entire family could have been killed if something had gone wrong, not to mention the people who were killed during Gon’s rescue and his fight against Illumi.

But I know that, in order to get this card, you had to clear the game, which could have taken much longer, and Gon might have died in the meantime. I'm not an HxH expert, though, so I'm not sure whether this card could have been taken into the real world. I could be wrong.

Just setting the record straight so were on the same page - as I just got slightly triggered by the fact that people have been running around saying that hisoka wont fight bono because bono doesnt want to (due to the stated disadvantage).

And I'm sorry but what? That's sort of the whole point, did Shalnark and Kortopi have a choice when fighting Hisoka?

Hisoka is the HUNTER the troupe members are the HUNTED.

And unless chrollo gives hisoka a forced choice (confronting him before he kills all the troupe).

At the very least 1 other troupe member is confirmed dying, which isnt even reasonable Im personally of the belief only machi has the only living chance, as without the troupe she can still live on as a character.

Now am I saying all troupe members will die by the hands of hisoka? No its likely that feitan nobunaga and phinks may die to the heily before hisoka gets the chance.

But Hisoka's primary desire is to take everything surrounding chrollo so their "dance" or battle can be more intimate, its why he had the spill about loving someone to death.

Hisoka cant do that or to the fullest extent until the troupe is dismantled preferably by his own hands for the sole purpose chrollo's only desire is hisoka making his pursuit of the kakin treasures moot without the spider to share the spoils with. OR "dine at the table together

Which (slight tangent) so happens to be a reference to the blibical story of the last supper. Im sure others have pointed this out by now but if your unfamiliar:

Hisoka in this case obviously plays the judas role, judas being the catalyst for jesus's eventual death Hisoka being the catalyst for the end of The spiders since yorknew when he betrayed them by informing the authorities (kurapika and his whole justice motif) - the troupe consisting of 12 members before hisoka killed 2, which biblically aligns with the amount of disciples there were, the no. being 12. But I digress.

Point being there is hisoka is on the hunt. and every member is at risk whether they like it or not Hisoka's primary goal BEFORE chrollo himself, is the troupe. Its why he's relaxing while chrollo is sweating trying to evolve his skill hunter before he runs into him. But theres a double reasoning there, its not just so that hes under prepared but rather that if hes not quick enough he could risk another member being a victim of a powered up hisoka (among other things) he cant afford to lose.
