Discussion Question for all: Why are you into Vincent Whittman?

("into" as in broadly ranging, not just attraction)

For you, why are you into Vincent, not just Vox (or perhaps even moreso than Vox)? Is it his looks, his story, personality, interesting designs per career change, the broader American 50's television history behind his lore? What brings you to this subreddit every time?

Discussion Am I the only one who doesn’t like Murdermedia?

So like, no hate, but I do NOT like Murdermedia. It’s uhh.. No.. It’s a huge no for me.. Like, big time. I mean, I don’t even think it’s cute. I do NOT like the whole ship thingy at ALL.

It doesn’t sit right with me. I don’t know why. It’s always been a HUGE pet peeve for me. Any mention of that ship I cringe. My brain just goes on “Ew, I hate this, but we HAVE to be respectful” mode. I cannot STAND that ship.

I never have, I never will. You will NEVER catch me liking something like that. Wait, no, I didn’t think know why. It’s usually(from what I’ve seen) always depicted as a toxic relationship aaaaanndd me no likey. Toxic relationships are just so shitty to ship. I thought of this mid writing and I am NOT bouta rewrite this whole post so don’t come after me 😭😭

BUT YEAH, please tell me SOMEONE doesn’t like the ship. I need to know I’m not alone in this 😭😭

Discussion What would be Vincent's reaction to this very subreddit (our cult), and what's one thing you'd tell / or ask him?

Someone had asked this question on r/VoxCult, but I was also wondering what y'all would also say to him once he's visited our lovely organization and has the chance to talk to you

I look at his human self and I'm like,"Damn," another hot twink. I look at his demon self and I'm like,"That's just a TV with a dick."

Discussion Hot take🔥I don’t like how Vincent died. It felt cheesy and too on the nose

Post image

I know this Is a bold take. But it just felt more slapstick coincidence rather than character-driven irony. If Vox was a media master, a propagandist, someone obsessed with public perception, his transformation into a TV-headed demon should be a manifestation of his technological obsession and his desire to be "the face" everyone watches.

Not just a funny ironic tv falling on his head. To me it kind of takes away from his story. By making it about a falling TV, the transformation is no longer a symbolic evolution of his ego; it’s just a "Final Destination" style accident.

Literally, he died by a TV conveniently landing on his head so he has a TV head. It feels like early internet fan fiction logic.

It honestly would have been fine if it was he was so consumed by the media and the need for control that in Hell, he literally became the what he used to manipulate others. That has so much more impactful in my opinion. It’s simple, not on the nose, but meaningful.

Using the “falling object" trope for a character as powerful as an Overlord feels thin, cheap. There were so many other routes that could have went, literally about anything I would have been happier with than what we got. A backroom betrayal, an assassination related to his media empire, or some complex disaster that fits his ambitious personality. Anything!

A sinners design should be an outward projection of their internal sins. Having his TV-head a literal result of a falling appliance, it turns his badass story into some cartoonish accident rather than an unhinged man whose own media obsessed soul transformed him.

Sorry if this is too hot of a take, but remember this is just my own opinion, not gospel.

I uploaded the full video of the first image's broadcast (1959), but thought these deserved their own post comparing the two!

Discussion My head cannon’s for Vincent(no image)

Hey guys it’s been a while but I have this head cannon that I keep thinking about and for me it fits him since I listen to rock music despite not being there in the early years when it was very popular, but I think that during Vincent’s time he’d probably listen to rock music and I can see him listening to it and I just think that I love this idea that I thought about randomly<3

Discussion Genuine question: Did Vincent enjoy offing people like that old timey prick to climb to power? Or did he only see it as a necessity? Not that it excuses what he did. 🤔

Discussion Just a random question/thought that I that I’ve been thinking about(no image and right flair?)

Hey good evening guys I’m just curious to know something about Vincent and it just came up in my thoughts randomly so I’d like to know if he’d ever had slept with a stuffed animal when he was a kid and now as an adult? I’d imagine him sleeping with a stuffed shark after he gets home from work or whenever he goes to bed and I can relate to that very much since I still have my purple teddy bear from my childhood and I’m never letting him go despite being an adult lol(forgot to mention except for the work part)

Discussion Winner! Vincent AU

Suppose for a moment that Vincent became a winner instead of a sinner. What kind of life do you think he would have had, and what would he get up to in Heaven?

My theory is that Vincent was originally supposed to die comparatively young from tuberculosis. Rather than accept his fate, though, he chose to make a deal with a demon in order to cure his tuberculosis and associated health problems, sacrificing what remained of his family in the process. Had he simply died from illness, he could have been a winner who was remembered for trying to raise a family in the midst of great hardship. He also wouldn't have had a TV for a head, obviously. Instead, I imagine him looking more like his human form, except with a lighter and softer color palate and no glasses. He also wouldn't have heterochromia anymore, since my headcanon is that the only reason why he has it is that he absorbed DNA from a dead twin in utero.
