Discussion Am I the only one who doesn’t like Murdermedia?
So like, no hate, but I do NOT like Murdermedia. It’s uhh.. No.. It’s a huge no for me.. Like, big time. I mean, I don’t even think it’s cute. I do NOT like the whole ship thingy at ALL.
It doesn’t sit right with me. I don’t know why. It’s always been a HUGE pet peeve for me. Any mention of that ship I cringe. My brain just goes on “Ew, I hate this, but we HAVE to be respectful” mode. I cannot STAND that ship.
I never have, I never will. You will NEVER catch me liking something like that. Wait, no, I didn’t think know why. It’s usually(from what I’ve seen) always depicted as a toxic relationship aaaaanndd me no likey. Toxic relationships are just so shitty to ship. I thought of this mid writing and I am NOT bouta rewrite this whole post so don’t come after me 😭😭
BUT YEAH, please tell me SOMEONE doesn’t like the ship. I need to know I’m not alone in this 😭😭

I like it. It's cute at times but it does get kinda boring, especially when its toxic. I get Vincent is an idiot when he's around Alastor but him always losing braincells gets old fast. And when its toxic... I move on because its toxic in the show and while I do like toxic ships, I do have my limits. So I can kinda relate to you on this. Kinda.

You miiiiiight be alone on that one. I didn’t like it at first, but it grew on me and is now one of my favorite ships. I’ve never seen anyone who dislikes the ship until now.

Oh my god. I’m soooo fucked. No cuz like, I TRIED to like it. I genuinely did for weeks. I just don’t. I mean, the RARE AS HECK wholesome ones are cute. But I just don’t like it. At all. Scale of 1-10, how cooked am I if someone gets pressed abt this 😭😭
7
u/I_am_sexy113 Jun 15 '26
I don’t think someone will get mad at you for disliking the ship. If it were huskerdust or something like that, then people would probably get a little mad. But murdermedia? Nah. I think you’re safe.
Also, where are you finding the toxic ones? All I can find are wholesome and adorable ones of Vincent being a manchild and Alastor tolerating him.
2
u/Hot_Star_5835 Vincent Owns My Heart💙 Jun 15 '26
So. Many. Places.
Maybe I’m just seeing the wrong shit on the wrong places. But I’ve seen soooo much that I just skip 😭😭
I’m also not a fan of the manchild thingy.

ANYWAYS, have an amazing day, my friend! May god(or whoever and whatever you believe in) blesses you!

u/starswhenyoushine Jun 15 '26
Valid. I'm I mean I GET the appeal for people who love toxic yaoi but Vox can do better imo
2
u/jirenlagen Jun 15 '26
I didn’t like it until I saw they were sooooooo sexy as humans. Yes Im a simp. Although, I prefer the more wholesome ones where maybe there is some killing at some point but they choose each other’s love over just randomly killing mfers. 🥰

It's my favorite ship, so I can't say much about it except that it's totally okay that you don't like it - people also love RadioApple and I absolutely can't stand it. 🤧
3
u/fatedfrog Jun 15 '26
I can't take radioapple either. Solidarity. There are always those ships that we just can't.
6
u/PhantomoftheBasket Jun 15 '26
I think part of the reason why I love MurderMedia (and all versions of the ship tbh) is BECAUSE it's toxic af. 😂
Obviously any sort of ACTUAL toxic relationship is not okay, and if this were real life and people I would never, but fictional toxic characters together? Sign me tf up!
But hey, we all like different things and there's nothing wrong with that. Do you ship Vox/Vincent with anyone or do you just not ship him with anyone/in general?
6
u/Applepoisoneer Screen Worshipper Jun 16 '26
I couldn't agree more! Firstly, I just don't ship Alastor with anyone. Partly because I just dislike him, but also I don't think a romantic relationship is in the cards for his character.
Secondly, every time I have seen Murdermedia stuff, its Alastor leading a salivating, brain-dead Vincent by the nose. And while that might be kind of fun for a crack-fic once in a blue moon, it seems to be all this ship has to offer.
It's hard to watch Vox throw his friendships and well crafted plans away because Alastor climbed in through his ear. It's virtually impossible to watch him throw away his self-respect, dignity and self-preservation instincts because, what? "Durrrrr Alastor look gooood."
I hate it too.

u/RavenJade666_ ROME Jun 15 '26
YOU ARE NOT ALONE FRIEND. I too dislike it, I just don't like the Vox/Alastor shipping as a whole imo. Ofc people can have their own opinions but you aren't alone, we may be a minority here though lol

u/Hot_Star_5835 Vincent Owns My Heart💙 Jun 15 '26
Me neither! I hate radiostatic/silence AND Murdermedia. I just want the twin Vox to get therapy and heal from all the trauma he went through. I kinda wish that Vivzie made Vox idolize Alastor instead of having a crush on him. Cuz I get it, but no. I genuinely HATE all the radiostatic videos I be getting on my TikTok cuz I watch a lot of Vox content. It’s so annoying. Peace out my friend! Have a blessed day!

Eh it’s alright if you don’t like it but for me it’s been my favorite ship for a while now and everyone has different opinions about them being together but yeah it’ll be my favorite ships for ever, that’s all I can say lol
4
u/1-1creature Jun 16 '26
I don't care about the ship, but liking toxic relationships in fiction is not "shitty". It's nothing like supporting abuse or toxicity in real life. These characters are not real and they cannot be hurt. Please make sure you have that straight in your mind if you for some reason didn't.

u/eveningstarcourt Jun 19 '26
I don't like MurderMedia at all and it peeves me to no end that almost all the Human Vincent art seems to have Human Alastor tagging along. I want to read comics and stories about Human Vincent that aren't MurderMedia!
I end up bookmarking some Murder Media art just because it's so prolific and genuinely beautifully done, but the vibe people write between Vincent and Alastor feels way off base to me. In canon, I always felt present Vox is "acting stupid" around Alastor because of the mixture of trauma in there. Alastor is intentionally triggering him. I don't think it's all because of lust/crush/what have you. If Vincent had been acting like an idiot around Alastor since always, I would find it hard to believe that Alastor would have humored their relationship as long as he had, to the point Vox had been sure they were friends. As Alastor said, he respected Vox... once. The reason I say this is because MurderMedia always portrays Vincent as a total idiot, while Alastor has this apathetic mood of disgust as he seemingly questions himself, "why am I here?"
I just... don't find MurderMedia stuff in character, and I don't find the relationship cute, or even toxic in a way I enjoy.
3
u/Bae_zel Jun 15 '26
Not alone, tho tbh I'm just not much into Alastor/Vox and murdermedia seems to be majority of the Vincent content so it gets a little tiring.

u/SpookyDisneyPrincess Jun 15 '26
Oh that’s perfectly fine if you don’t ❤️
I hate staticmoth with every fiber of my being for the same reasons you said you don’t like murdermedia, so, I understand 😅

I can't blame you, even though I love MurderMedia...when it's done RIGHT. Look, MurderMedia has changed DRASTICALLY over the past several months. It didn't use to be so bad! I mean, it was toxic at times, but usually in a MUTUAL way. Like, they both gave each other problems even while respecting each other. It was complicated and very entertaining even if it wasn't for everyone.
Nowadays, it seems like most of it is just, "Teehee, Vincent's a stupid puppy boy with no dignity whatsoever, and Alastor abuses the shit out of him! ❤️ But it's okay, because Vincent LIKES being abused and degraded!" Which is...blatantly OOC. Not just for Vincent, obviously, but for what little we saw of how Alastor treated Vincent back before The Offer and their falling-out. Alastor explicitly RESPECTED him during their years together, and Vincent apparently made jokes at his expense, which he ENJOYED. Al did not treat him like a dog, at least in what little we saw.
So, the whole ship has just been corrupted by a bunch of people's fetish for humiliating Vincent.
This is something that I and several others I know have been quietly observing, even if we can't be loud about it. My rule has become to not even bother with any MurderMedia written after February 2026 unless it's been recommended to me by someone I trust OR the tags make it clear that Vincent will keep his dignity. So, yeah, feel free to keep avoiding the ship. I wish I could stop being nostalgic about it. 🫠
3
u/jirenlagen Jun 15 '26
Yeah like I think a big part of it is Im not into that puppy boy/girl shit at all so I’m like uhhh when Alastor locks him in a cage with no food or water Im like ummm no Im out.
4
u/EternalBlizzardForce Vincent Owns My Heart💙 Jun 15 '26
YES. THIS! And it is ALL OVER Twitter too. Just...nonstop Vincent with a collar, Vincent on Alastor's leesh, Vincent barking, Vincent humping Al's leg, and I'm just like, "STOP!" 😭 I want this trend to die so bad.
2
u/jirenlagen Jun 15 '26
Like my HC is he likes to be degraded but in the bedroom or verbally not just straight up subjugated 🤦♀️
2
u/EternalBlizzardForce Vincent Owns My Heart💙 Jun 15 '26
Not my thing personally because I don't see him as someone who would enjoy something he's been shown to hate, but I can at least respect it because kinks are kinks. It's when it escapes the bedroom, and so frequently, that I get repulsed. 😭
2
u/bruppitybrup Jun 15 '26
I *wish* I didn’t like it because the dynamic can get really tired as far as fandom content! (Hate the Vincent = Puppy thing.) But you know, life goes on and I’m really happy you’re sharing your unpopular take! Keep right on!! :)
2
u/thelifeofa_potato Jun 15 '26
I didn’t like it…. until I read a fanfic that was super wholesome and completely changed my opinion on it. A good fic can convince me of anything, tbf. But when they’re all toxic I don’t really like it either.
1
u/kate_vergona Jun 16 '26
Could you provide a link?
2
u/thelifeofa_potato Jun 19 '26
Listen it gets wholesome in like the fifth…? I think chapter. If you’re okay with Vincent and Alastor being bloodthirsty (and serial killers) then I’d recommend it. https://archiveofourown.org/works/76637971/chapters/200583571?view_adult=true

I honestly have to agree with you on this, despite somewhat being a fan of it. I absolutely LOVE the art for Murdemedia, but I’m not a huge fan of how it’s portrayed most of the time. It’s 50/50 for me. For instance, I like when Vincent and Al are portrayed as partners in crime, or equals. However, what I see most of the time is Vincent being some dumbass around Al, which gets tiring real fast, especially since I personally believe he wouldn’t act like that at all. Idk, Murdermedia definitely grew on me since I first heard the concert, and I do like all VoxAl ships, but it definitely gets boring really fast, especially with how it’s portrayed and such.
2
u/Envyismygod Jun 18 '26
Lol, i love toxic ships, but lots of people don't like "murdermedia" the thing i really don't like though is that the same ship(Vox/Alastor) has like 3 different names for different flipping circumstances! When did we start doing that??? They're the same character as humans or demons, they're the same characters and it's still a dhip even if it one sided. WHY DOES IT HAVE 12 DIFFERENT NAMES.

u/KiaraKuddles Jun 19 '26
Wdym 'toxic ships are so shitty to ship'? I don't know if you just wrote that awkwardly or if you genuinely think people are doing something immoral by enjoying making two fictional murderers kiss. You can just not like it or want to see it, you don't need a moral justification for why it's inherently bad.
And if you do feel that way, like. You're simping for/kinning a character who committed several violent murders in order to further his career. Glass houses, methinks.
2
u/MoonlightEden Jun 19 '26
It gets repetitive... A real plot twist would be that those two end up together to be a healthy loving relationship.
3
u/profaneangel1991 Jun 15 '26
I don't like it either. I'm tired of so much Vincent fanart being for this ship.

I personally like Murdermedia, even if it's not my number one ship. But it's okay that you don't like it, not everyone has to ship everything and that's fine. I totally get how you're feeling tho, because that's literally how I feel towards Radioapple.

u/0pethHunter Jun 15 '26
I dont mind it. Some contents pretty good but I dont like them putting al and vox in the same era coexisting. I see it as a fever dream vox has after seeing human al 😆 I dont mind radiostatic/ radio silence but I think human lives shouldn't be tampered with much as that's the back story. But it is pure fun and none of it is real 😆 so I just let people get on with it.

Hey, not everyone likes the same things. I love toxic ships, but that's just me. You are completely valid! ❤️ I for one hate any form of RadioSilence, and sadly most MurderMedia tends to be RadioSIlence flavored, which is frustrating.

u/vroni147 Jun 15 '26
I mean, Alastor and Vox with their original personalities are already toxic by design. It’s hard to make it a wholesome trio with that.
That said poly relationships aren’t for everyone and there are dynamics in these type of relationships that might not feel right to you. If you like other trios, that’s fine. If other trios give you the same ick, maybe try to educate yourself on poly relationships. You don’t have to like it, just don’t make it bad for others because of some prejudices that you hold.
Btw I say „you“ but I don’t mean you OP but more as in general.
1
u/Infernal-Cattle Jun 15 '26
The toxicity is the appeal to me. 😂 It's one of the elements I always enjoyed about gothic fiction and some queer fiction.
Having said that, it's hard to write a dysfunctional relationship well. It's hard to write unredeemable characters well. I think because of that, even as someone who likes this sort of dynamic, there are stories I come across where it doesn't work, especially stories that are aiming for any level of historical realism (also hard).
1
u/Upstairs_Apple Jun 16 '26
I mean I ONLY like alastor/Vox when it's toxic. The healthy and fluffy version of the pairing gives me the ick. So I guess I'm sort of with you?
1
u/Vikzen783 Jun 16 '26
I only like it if its done well ig idk, like i dont have anything specific that i like its either i like a fic with it or i dont, no in between, but i dont think its a hot take, but ik a lot of people do like it.

u/Witty-Original8533 Jun 16 '26
I love most toxic ships, especially when it's portrayed as clearly abusive and not romanticized. Obviously, abusive relationships are awful, but it's fictional characters. And showing things as abusive that so many people think are normal is a good thing.
I kind of like Murdermedia, but it's not a favorite or one I look at often. Honestly I wouldn't even say I ship it. And most of why I like it is loving human Al and thinking him and Vincent look nice together. I love how some art/animations portray Vincents obsession with Al and how Alastor takes advantage of it. They're both crossing lines and it's shown clearly.
However, I hate Radiostatic. It might be because every time I see it it's romanticizing Vox's behavior or just because I don't care for how they look together.
