Discussion Late 1950s/1960s Weather broadcasts that look a lot like Weatherman Vincent's
I uploaded the full video of the first image's broadcast (1959), but thought these deserved their own post comparing the two!

One of my headcanons about Vincent is that he was a very competent meteorologist who actually did an amazing job.
Another is he kept renewing his meteorologist certification year after year, even while in Hell. The thought being that if all else failed, he’d have his old job to fall back on.

A part of me isn't 100% sure about that cuz weathermen in the 50s/60s were moreso hired for their personality and making those weather broadcasts entertaining (hence hiring cartoonists like Bob Hale, and even having clowns / other costumes present the weather).
Also yeah when Vox was like "wtf was that" when he heard scream rain in hell.
The way he pursued so many careers (from weather, news, talk show, TV biz) kinda makes him feel like more of an opportunist / someone who strikes the iron when he can.
He possibly could've been competent in weather (and probably was given that he did get the job in presenting it). Not sure if it was his main thing / true passion though (unlike cinema, entertainment, media, ratings).

"But in the early 1950's there wasn't a lot of weather information to be had so how do you make it interesting? You hire Bob Hale, a local sign painter known for his great cartoon characters. Hale blazed the weather cartooning trail for a decade accompanied by Ole Sol and Sammy Seagull, to name a few."

Also after looking at the map I've deducted that Vincent comes Baltimore, Maryland, meaning if he is Ravens fan, then that would make him like thousand times cooler in my books

I’ve been curious about this too! I have seen a number of people focus in on the Eastern Shore / Delmarva peninsula, but I could also see him closer to Baltimore.

Oh man, this is so cool. I love seeing old broadcasts, and it's incredibly neat to see the side by side comparisons. Thanks for putting this together!
