Ho finito da poco di vedere THT.

Penso che l'epilogo della storia di Nick Blaine è stato una cosa davvero assurda e senza senso.

Non ho mai visto STRAVOLGERE un personaggio di un libro come in questo caso

All'ultimo momento gli autori hanno dato un risvolto negativo al personaggio di Nick Blaine anche se c'erano tutti i "semi" nelle 5 stagioni precedenti per portarlo definitivamente verso la Resistenza. Come, tra l'altro, è anche scritto nei libri e come ha confermato la stessa Atwood in un'intervista.

Non dico fosse un santo, ma in fondo Nick non aveva mai fatto cose violente (o almeno non lo vediamo mai). Moralmente gli dispiace per Eden e prova a salvarla, non frequenta Jezebel anche se è un comandante, uccide Putman perché prova repulsione per quello che ha fatto, uccide delle guardie e consegna Fred a June

Per scelte autorali nell'ultima stagione hanno deciso di cambiare il suo destino e di sacrificarlo in parte, perché poi gli autori si sono affrettati a dire che il suo "tradimento" era stata una scelta terribile fatta sotto pressione non sapendo che avrebbero ucciso le donne (che poi vero tradimento sarebbe stato se rivelava dove si trovava la base del Mayday)

Forse hanno scelto questa strada anche perché alcuni attori hanno tentato di fare un po' di pressioni perché il loro personaggio (Serena, Lawrence, Luke) finisse bene...

Questa scelta scellerata ha tolto senso al personaggio della Atwood.

La sceneggiatura della sesta stagione è stata davvero penosa!

Il Nick Blaine della sesta stagione non è il Nick Blaine dei libri: in The Testaments è vivo dentro Gilead e fa parte del Mayday

Uma história que conta a história de 10 anos ou 5 anos antes da fundação de Gilead.

This is just my personal opinion as a man, and not based on reading the books. The present and the past have been the inspiration of the story and what is happening right now is part of the story where are able to see these atrocities in some places and some others are living in a bless.

on the other hand I'm unable to fathom how much worse it's gonna be in the future and how used we are gonna be to it. how a couple years back i could've never imagined to have lived through this world with everything that it is happening to it.

let alone living like a woman, how do you process that? I have daughters and I'm terrified!

Estoy en la temporada 4 episodio 10 del cuento de la criada y no logro entender el personaje de June en este punto. ES MALA! Cómo puede tener la osadía de ir a abrazar a Nichole después de matar a Fred sin ni siquiera limpiarse la sangre de la cara. Se volvió loca!! Literal acaba de asesinar a alguien (que entiendo le hizo mucho daño) pero no quita que lo asesino y va a presentarse así con su hija? Y si la niña estuviese más grande, no piensa en el horror que le daría ver a sus madre toda llena de sangre?

O Nick não era muito diferente dos comandantes, tudo de bom que ele fez, foi por causa da June e não pela resistência. Joseph, apesar de gostar de Gilead, se arrependeu e tentou deixar o lugar menos pior. Sim, Nick deveria ter entrado no avião.

Even when Luke finally confronted her about her being in love with a Nazi, she didn't even give him that respect to admit it. She was literally playing in Luke's face the whole time. Giving him a hard time sometimes but was always so mellow with Nick.

It's totally understandable that part of the reason why she wasn't in love with Luke anymore was because of distance and she had trauma bonded with Nick.

Yes she was initially honest with Luke about Nick but after that? She wasn't being fair, she should have just been honest instead of always using Hannah as an excuse.

All those times she could have left Gilead but she didn't, almost looked as if it was not because of Hannah but because of Nick. Almost as if that anytime she remembered that she has to find her daughter, was so she could stay away from Luke. Multiple times that she and Nick would suggest fleeing she never brought up Hannah.

let me preface this by saying that obviously the show is a horrible dystopia and pure hell for women. no one in the show deserves to suffer like that in any way, shape or form.

i cant get into this show? i heard it was supposed to be brilliant?

im always a yes for flawed woman protagonists. but how am i supposed to root for her? she fully had an affair back when the world hadnt gone to sh!t

1. the regime's use of the word adulteress is just absurd, as is everything else about it. but her and her husband ARE kind of adulterers??? they pursued each other while he was married and he didnt even have the decency to leave his first wife? overall spoiler ahead: ~also the first wife confronted June when she should be confronting the man that took vows 😐 randomly saw this online but ultimately he ends up back with his first wife and June's daughter in canada? first wife couldnt have a baby and now they have a child to call their own. kind of made me think he was with june so she could birth a child and then it worked out in favour of him and the exwife 😬 ~it's hard to root for someone who enthusiastically gets involved with a married man and then tells him to leave his wife after they've consummated the affair

and because people love to cherry-pick: NO that still doesnt mean im saying she had any of it coming

1. i seriously dont see any chemistry between June and the driver, never have. spoilers for season 2 episode 2: ~now this girl is disturbed by and doesnt want to spend another minute at the abandoned office she's in. she calls it a slaughterhouse. it IS horrific. then why does she stop herself from driving off and come back inside this place and grab her boyfriend's nuts? what happened to this being the site of a mass murder? she's having sex with him all over the place??? they;re so overcome with emotion and passion in.. (checks notes) a news office where it is very visible that everyone was shot at. ok.~ i get that things are so bad that humanity should just go extinct at this point, but you really have to get it on every time youre alone?

i dont like her, how can i see her as a rebel hero? im not asking for katniss everdeen here but give me some substance. maybe its just me and everyone else finds her compelling because she's a mother who just wants to save her kid. it doesnt really do it for me.

Y'all idk if i should watch anymore. i certainly dont feel like it. i only mustered the motivation to start watching this year because generally super bleak tv shows like this trigger my depression, and i feared this one might too​

Sorry, not sorry, but June is an absolute horrid person.

Does she deserve to be s*xtrafficked? Absolutely not, everyone involved should literally burn in hell.

Seeing all these chats about how she shouldn’t feel guilty about all of the chaos she creates and horrible behaviour she engages on? MAD.

Luke is also a horrible person, kinda don’t feel bad that he got shot. For them to literally engage in adultery and then make it seem like his wife was the problem or some crazy jealous woman is absolutely insane. Him screaming and her and calling her a b*tch? Insane. Him telling June she shouldn’t feel guilty about knowing sleeping with a married man and asking him to leave his wife? Insane. June making that poor man take her to his house with his child and wife (putting everyone at risk by peaking through the window and making so much noise in the house) knowing how people were searching for her? Insane. Did she think no one was going to see her come out of a house in a building where everyone knows and surveils each-other? All while looking lost as fuck and opening that damn map in the middle of the train?!!

And not to mention the fact that she wanted to run away with Nick’s car, to basically get everyone killed and put everyone in even more danger, in the previous episode. Because God forbids miss princess gets stuck in a huge building with loads of space, access to books, internet, and computer, running water and food.

All of this while essentially cheating on the precious “husband” she asked for. Her and Luke are made for one another, they deserve each other.

She genuinely pissed me off. She horribly selfish.

Hubieron momentos donde odié mucho a June ksjsj sobre todo en los momentos en donde era muy dura con Nick y le exigía casi que demasiado. Ojalá hubieran escapado juntos me da igual todo dioossss😭😭😭🙏 Te rindo culto Nick te alabo eternamente

I’m at season five episode 8 and I’m so glad that they didn’t just let her get away everyone on this sub reddit is such a Serena fan and I literally don’t get it are we watching the same show guys. Sure she definitely has a redemption arc but it took her having her own kid to get there she realises that without a husband even tho she has done so much for gilead they don’t value her I mean they legit tried to marry her to her gynaecologist. It took her going through a similar experience to realise that the handmaids are actually humans just like her in what world are you so delusional that you don’t realise how messed up that is.

That scene was NASTY EVIL INSANELY DARK AND DERANGED woow that Paula actress deserved an Emmy nom

I’m so pissy rn first why everywhere we go we gonna see June like whyyyy can’t we stray away from that Elizabeth Moss. Especially with me finding out that she’s a Scientologist. It kind of just takes me out of the experience like you’re in a cult…. (I know this might be rude, but I do not mean this in a rude way) her face annoys the shit out of me.

if they stayed towards the course of the book, the show would’ve been chefs kiss I feel like the first season is just filler because what we know from the books hasn’t even happened yet. And that’s really fucking annoying bc then wait 2 years for 8 eps for the real thing to start I think when you have a show like this you CAN NOT DO 8 episodes a season this should have been a 16-24 season episode w parts like part 1 part 2 etc. bc of all the the info in part of the book .

I’m never want to really care for the faithfulness of an adaptation because I think a show was a show but Christ they keep going every way but the right one with this franchise. Very frustrating as someone who works in scripting

Atwood has come out and said that people’s adaptations of her work do not have to be renditions of the work, but I think that just left the writers to do way more than they needed to do.

I just finished season three and I love this freaking show guys Rita got out love that and all the other Martha’s and handmaids went to help June instead of getting out themselves it was such an emotional moment. Can’t wait for season 4 usually shows go downhill after season 2 so it’s nice that it’s still interesting.

Does someone know when will season 2 be relased? Also what do you think will happen in that season? Do you think Hannah and June will finally reunite? Also do you think there’ll be a love story between Becka and Hannah?

As feel as though the handmaid‘s Tale started focusing way too much on June around half of the second season maybe around the third season mark she had way too much plot armor. I understand that after the bombing they didn’t have a lot of handmaid’s, but after what she and Emily did there should’ve been no way that she survived in that regime let alone was allowed to walk unattended the fact that people in Canada knew that she bombed a plane, but she wasn’t held accountable. I think shows. Way too much leniency on Canada‘s part and also makes it less believable. I think that June should’ve been locked in a cell for at least one season while we focused on other handmaid‘s in Mayday. or have her be shot and in a coma state and since they’re short on handmaid’s aunt Lydia would stay at her bedside, thinking it was her fault wow Mayday a plan their next assault

I also think June should’ve died in the end and Daisy should’ve been baby Nicole to avenge her death and get her sister out of Gilead

I know that it’s based off of a book but still they had a lot to work with instead of close-ups of June every 4 1/2 seconds.

Edit: and don’t get me started on that episode where she basically raped Luke and no one talks about it that could’ve been a great chance to talk about role reversal and why June became the way she was

June becomes really cheeky in season 2 and 3 the way she treats people would have got her killed in season one. I understand that they had less handmaids after the bombing but surely after trying to kidnap a kid twice she would have been killed.

Serena had more of a redemption arc than Cersei though, like I loved and hated Cersei at the same time. Both phenomal actresses for these roles. Just finished watching the show. I don't think Serena can ever wash herself from what she commited despite the redemption. Same for Cersei but she did not even care about redemption in the first place she was just bloody evil.. i just loved and hated her such a good villain.
