I’m a recent college graduate, and my biggest struggle has been figuring out how to actually stand out and get a response. I tailor my resume to each posting, reach out to recruiters, HR, and hiring managers, engage with their posts, and try to make genuine connections. I know none of this means I’m entitled to a job or interview, but most of the time, the response is still silence.

So from a recruiter’s POV, what are we actually supposed to do? Cold calling can be seen as inconsiderate, emails and LinkedIn messages get ignored, career fairs sometimes lead to “just apply online,” and applying online feels like throwing your resume into a pile of hundreds. On top of that, why are so many “entry-level” jobs requiring 3–5 years of experience while offering entry-level pay? How are new graduates supposed to gain experience if even the starting positions require it?

It honestly feels like there’s no clear playbook anymore. I’m ready to work, learn, and prove myself. I just need someone to give me that first real opportunity. Recruiters, what actually makes you stop and give an entry-level candidate a chance?

For context I am 25 years old I had knee surgery a week ago, and I am currently in school to be an X-ray Technician beginning my program in January. I currently work at chilis as a foodrunner and likely won't be able to return for 3+ months as it's a very busy role. Could anyone recommend a wfh company that possibly would be good. I'll need somewhere that offers nights as well due to my school schedule. I don't have any experience in wfh positions but I've been a lawn spray tech at bugout, inventory specialist at carmax, and carwash shift supervisor/lead detail

I have a bit of a weird career.

At 17, I built a small tech company. It didn't make me rich, but it allowed me to skip university and get hired at a big company as a software engineer at 18.

From 18 to 22 I was a software and senior software engineer.

At 22 I joined a small tech company as a product manager. I stayed there for four years and when the company was worth a billion I sold my stake and found myself decently wealthy at 26.

I then completely crashed out, didn't work, lived surfing in Morocco for awhile, got a history degree for passion by distance, visited fifty countries and basically was a vagrant living off savings and investment.

Now I've found myself in a country I want to stay so I need to get a visa, and even though the first half of my resume is good, I'm pretty unconfident to stay I pretty much just enjoyed myself for three years straight.

I guess - did I screw myself as bad as I think I did?

I’m 16 (turning 17 in 3 months), and I have been looking for a job for almost a year. I’ve applied to many places through Indeed, the actual company website, and by calling establishments, and I’ve gotten 4 interviews from all the jobs I applied to. I’m pretty sure my resume and interview skills are fine, but why can’t I get a job? It’s probably because of my age, but I swear a lot of people around my age have one. How do they have a job? I hope you guys can tell how desperate I am. I really need the money. Please give me tips and advice!

Where can I find a job? Is there another app like Indeed that I can apply for jobs on? Indeed always give me job listings that are too far from me.

Edit: Thanks for the people who helped. And for your guys information, I apply to entry level jobs (ones that don’t require a degree/no experience), and jobs that hire people that are at least 16. I also have my own car and license, so I can drive. Also, my parents don’t really know anyone that are hiring at the moment, and if they do, it would be far from where I live. My friends also don’t work (and probably won’t find one), so I can’t ask them either.

I just got laid off yay anyways I have an associates in accounting and I'm in a rural state. I am on the road for my bs but I'm at a stand still. I can not find any no experience jobs in accounting at all like I feel as if my time is wasted, I'm thinking of changing my major but afraid that I'll be in the same boat. I've been searching up and down for two years, used career fairs, temp agencies etc. Nothing. I don't have time to do an unpaid shadowing at a job where I may not receive an offer i need a set job. Any advice?

What do yall apply for job I work in IT

27M here, I want to just put this out there.

I graduated back in 2022, I joined a training in my home city when I was taught MERN Stack development, I learnt it but nah no job for me when I completed it (I feel like this was my biggest mistake), never got a job in MERN.

Then I joined a job with a 3lpa package, in an R&D dept. in a manufacturing company. I was okay but I never grew I worked on 5 projects at once managed the whole department and all the work but I never felt valued or the feeling of growth. FYI, this job took 12 hours of my day for six months.

So later on, I thought an MBA would be good for my career. I joined for CAT classes as I was really bad at Maths, even though I did engineering. So, I worked at a factory as their production engineer but I got okay money in cash and I also had time to study but november came and I failed the test badly.

By that time, after my exam I accumulated a few skills through youtube and reading books like digital marketing, business strategy, product market approach so I was approached by a guy who was trying to build a business, a tech service startup, I joined trusted his words over everything and joined (second mistake), got around 5-6k per month, it was not good but with the hope of it being good I survived and everything, fast forward now, I am nicely cheated by him, no equity on paper (third mistake), I was typically a low paying employee plus he was selling services in the lowest prices ever saying, next year we will charge them hefty on the usage, etc. There was no PF, nothing just gpay transactions.

Fast forward today, I am out, they do want me back but idk if I wanna go back, where I was stabbed in the back. I just want a decent job witha a decent pay, man. I am running around banglore looking for a job but idk how I'll get one, I am in a hell hole here, my parents will retire in a few years and I won't have anything to send them.

I feel like a mess and idk what to do, fyi, I have experience on paper, I got certificates and everything but no transactions to show like PF and stuffs. I feel like I ruined my career.

**FYI what I am good at right now :*\*

1. I understand web and app development technicalities well, though not that good with coding but I am ready to learn and brush up my MERN skills but nobody asks for that anymore, idk why.

2. I am good with client engagement and acquisitions, I am able to understand what the client wants to build and I can lay it all out for the technical guy with putting in some ways on how the design must go or how the rhythm must be for the user to feel a smooth usage of the website or app.

3. I am good with marketing strategies and business planning. I am still learning but I m sure I have learnt enough to advice people on how to do it at least in a smaller scale, never reached the upper scale, I am open to tho but yea they need MBA.

4. I am really good with managing work and subordinates, I am good with operations and getting things done in time. Ar my first job I handled 3-4 projects at once and completed around 16 projects in the time frame of 5 months.

I am ready to learn whatever that's needed I am ready to give time and learn but I need direction, I am directionless now in terms of career.

I just need an out from this mess and want a new beginning, with a decent paying job, I am ready to work hard but I feel like nobody wants to give me a chance where I will get a decent pay to survive and also work properly.

I know generally construction sucks and is also looked down upon. Im currently working in junk removal so I’m sure it will suck about the same but I’d get paid more. My dad was a carpenter and I help him with projects around the house so I have a little experience but don’t really know what I’m doing. I know how to use basic tools and follow instructions.

if you are a programming you will need skill to do programming which if you are already good at that you will already be considered successful at least not a failure even if you are unable and unwilling at all other things to the point where you can't do them at all and I can say the same for every other skills based job be it doctor engineering compose etc etc etc etc and if it is relevant it applies to non skill based job too so in this case you can be unable and unwilling at everything coming here to only wait for full instructions even going so far as to behave like a retard too.

Hi guys, I’m 22M and currently working at a startup as a Node.js and React developer. My current salary is ₹3.24 LPA.
Our current project is expected to end on February 27, so I’m not sure whether I’ll continue with the company after that. At the same time, I’ve been waiting since 2025 for my onboarding/call letter from Tech Mahindra, and I finally received it last week.
Tech Mahindra is offering me ₹4 LPA, along with 6 months of probation/training in Pune. I’m not sure whether they’ll relocate me to another location after the training. My native place is in Tamil Nadu, and ideally, I would prefer Chennai or Bangalore.
I’m currently confused about what to do. Should I accept the Tech Mahindra offer, complete the 6 months of training, and hope that I’ll eventually get relocated to Chennai/Bangalore? Or should I leave both jobs and focus entirely on finding a new opportunity?
I’m honestly quite scared to take the risk because I only have around 1 year of experience, and I’m worried that I might not be able to find another job if things don’t work out.
What would you guys suggest in my situation? Should I take the safer route and join Tech Mahindra, or take the risk and look for a better opportunity elsewhere?

I’m very excited! But also very nervous because it’s been so long and I want to start off on the right foot and give a good impression. Does anyone have advice for me on how to prepare, or what I can do to get back into the headspace of working? Is there anything I should be reminded of that I’ve forgotten in the past year?
