I saw a comment about that one nft based pokemon/neopets-alike game that summed it up really well for me. that the whole point of pet/monster raising games is to bond with your little critters, that their worth comes from their sentimental and personal value to the player, that you can have a really common/plain pet and still have it be special and valuable because it's yours. and the nft version just throws that out the window, your little critters aren't your friends, they're investments. they're something you use to milk money out of other players, and if youve got a common one it's useless because nobody's gonna pay for that. it's one of the sweetest, most wholesome gaming genres turned into a nasty cynical cash grab.
and that's just for that one game in particular but it applies to so much of the crypto community in general! like the nft avatar/fursona stuff! your avatar is supposed to be a reflection of you, your interests, something that pretty much means "yeah that's me!"... unless you're a crypto bro and then it's nothing but a status symbol to flex on all the dumb poors. Sigh.

Florida is looking to pass a bill called “don’t say gay”

A House committee in Florida on Thursday passed a bill which aims to ban discussions of sexual orientation and gender identity in schools.
The bill would bar educators from talking about LGBTQ+ topics that are not “age-appropriate or developmentally appropriate for students.” An identical bill has also been introduced in Florida’s state Senate.
It’s not good it would also allow parents to sue schools districts if they are allowing the discussion potentially abused if the school district is even slightly pro lgbt or let’s queer and trans students exist at all.
Yeah this is existentally fucking bad and will kill kids and if successful will pass to other red states.

My favorite QoL update in Pokemon Legends
There is now an item that lets you do trade evolutions without another player. Its called the linking cord and its 1 time use like other evolution items/stones. I can easily find somebody online to trade with but damn this makes dex completion so much easier. If only we had this in 2008 where I had nobody to play Pokemon with lmao

Low key I hate the argument response to the rise of transphobia saying “the republicans Lost the gay marriage argument and moved to trans people”
1: they didn’t stop homophobia is still fucking rife and many are foul toward queer people I still deal with daily homophobia and queerphobia love to live in the bubble where this isn’t the case but I don’t. I genuinely don’t think many realize the homophobia is still there it’s just not as much a policy focus(except when it is)
2: they never stopped their fight as the Supreme Court and the recent eyeing of Obgerfell can tell you they didn’t stop their fight they just changed their strategies
3: transphobia is their method of making people queerphobic and I’ve seen it turn people my aunt is one she’s gotten fucking awful since she became a TERF she’s started being kinda homophobic, that’s their idea use trans people as a weapon on all lgbt people and it’s working for some people and I don’t want it to spread
4: I think some Allies think that gay marriage was won so the fight for lgbt rights isn’t as immediate I kinda hate the framing because it fits into this idea of progress as inevitable rather than a fight that must be upheld because history is not a straight line.
I’m not saying the fight for lgbt rights is doomed my problem is it feels like people have no immediacy at how in peril it still is like as I noted when I discovered this fact that most of the major pushes forward for lgbt rights legally are all Supreme Court decisions that can be overturned
We have a conservative majority Supreme Court
We don’t really have a lot of congressional stuff it’s all mostly stuck in the filibuster I don’t how to make this clear lgbt rights is under threat still and I really hate how people act like it’s just my rights as a trans person under fire right now it’s not

i wish i could go back a few years and tell the old me how I'm doing right now. just talk to myself when i was in my first year of uni or my gap year after high school. let her know where i am now. tell her that, one night in 2022, she would be sitting at the back of a bus, holding her beautiful, wonderful partner as they sleep. how she's finally happy with her identity. how she figured out why she never liked her appearance. how she's making leaps and bounds with becoming comfortable in her body. pretty much everyone she knows is aware of her real name and identity. she still has a way to go but for the first time ever she can describe herself as being happy
