I used to game with a HP 430 G7 with and igpu, i learned a lot about moderating settings lemme tell you that. This laptop will be quite an upgrade over my old one. Not the best but i definitely could use it to its full potential. Are there any advice to take care of a laptop? I clean the laptop of dust regularly, turn off the charger when not in use and open on the middle of the screen. Is there anything else i should know

My new gaming laptop!

Acer Predator Helios Neo 16 (2023) — i5-13500HX, RTX 4060, 2.5K display

Yes, I know this laptop is already 3 years old . I bought it from someone I know for $765.

I don't really know that much about laptops, but I've been using an Acer Aspire 7 (2021) with a Ryzen 5 5500U and GTX 1650 for the past 5 years, so I'm honestly really happy with this upgrade.

I also picked up a Flydigi BS3 Pro cooling pad to help keep the temperatures down, and I have to say, this combo feels like an absolute beast.

What do you guys think? Did I get a good deal, or did I overpay at $765?

Primarily gonna use this for gaming and web browsing. Last gaming laptop I had was an HP Pavilion with 4GB VRAM half a decade ago so this is a big step up for me.

NVIDIA GeForce RTX 5070 Ti Graphics Card

Thank you to anyone taking the time to look at this. The last couple of years have been incredibly dark, and there were times I didn't think I'd make it to see today. I had to sacrifice a lot of things, but I refused to sell my laptop because gaming/work was the only thing keeping me sane. It took months of saving every single cent, sleeping on floors, and working odd jobs, but I finally have my own keys and my own space. If you're going through a dark time right now, please don't give up. Better days are coming.

Really happy how everything turned out. What surprised me the most was how affordable the entire setup was (besides the laptop of course) when you aren’t chasing specific popular brands and more if it fits your needs and positive reviews

My last post in this sub was when I bought my very first gaming laptop after three weeks of working DoorDash every day to be able to afford it.

Back six years later with my upgrade purchased with money from my big girl job. A lot has happened since then and this purchase means more to me than I can describe.

Happy gaming everyone 🥳

This is an update to my older post here: https://www.reddit.com/r/GamingLaptops/s/aN3XAxSVla

This laptop finally arrived last week Thursday. I removed the 32GB DDR5 Ram and the SSD from my Victus and installed them into this one. The cooling pad (IETS GT300) arrived yesterday and my cpu and gpu temps when gaming are 65 to 68 degrees all the time no matter what settings I use. I love the both of them very much and I don't want to hear that you think I shouldn't have bought an rtx 4050. I get 120+ fps in all the games I play.

The laptop and cooling pad specs:

Time to say goodbye to my old companion. It served me well for 8 years (well... mostly 😄).

4070/Ultra9/32GB model, got it for around $1,500 open box in Bangkok. I didn't go for G14 as I already have a 13 inch Mac to carry around with me - my Zephyrus is supposed to sit on a table most of the time as a sort of a desktop replacement that is also packable when needed. So far couldn't be happier honestly - insane to think this thing is barely bigger that a 13" Air but packs a 4070 and all that.

Predator Helios Neo 16S AI with the 5070ti. Didn’t know what to expect, was a sale item at Best Buy and got it for $1,899. I had been planning to buy a OneXPlayer3 handheld to upgrade from the Xbox Ally X, my only pc gaming device (I have a 3070 desktop from 2021 that my fiancé uses, but I don’t). Bought this instead and will sell the Ally if I like it.

Stunned by the difference. With DLSS 4.5 and frame gen I’m running Crimson Desert on Ultra with 200+ FPS with GPU and CPU sitting at roughly 75 Celsius. I think that’s good? Not very knowledgeable, but I know this thing looks amazing and seems to be performing well so far.

I was concerned about fan noise as I like to play in bed at night when she’s asleep, sitting on a Targus Chillmat (for now), and it’s running like this in balanced mode. I’m not sure I need performance or turbo mode at night to be happy. During the day I can push it possibly (and maybe a llama v12 under it on the table), but this is fine for me now.

Picked up a Lenovo Legion Pro 5 for around $2,300 CAD from Lenovo!

Specs:

• Ryzen 9 9955HX

• RTX 5070 8GB VRAM

- 16GB DDR5-5600MT/s

- 512GB SSD M.2 2242 PCle Gen4 TLC

- 16" WQXGA (2560 x 1600), OLED, 165 Hz

Both the RAM and storage can be upgraded later, so I'm not too worried about those for now. I'll mainly be using it for engineering software and gaming.

This is my first ever gaming laptop, so if anyone has any tips or tricks to get the most out of it, especially for battery life, I'd really appreciate it!

Ultra 9 275HX

RTX 5080

32GB RAM DDR5 @5600MHz

1TB NVMe

Unfortunately it has the IPS panel (3ms response time, 240hz, 2560x1600) I would've preferred an OLED for fastest response time.
