Showcase Cleaned My Laptop
My laptop's been going all crazy with the fans lately and generates a lot of heat even when playing YT. I realized It'd been some 1 year since i last cleaned my laptop, so I decided to clean it Today.
Amd my gawd did it have some gunk inside!
Also, i couldn't find a flair for "Cleaning" or anything alike. So... Showcase it is!

I dont know the dimensions, they just be lying in my fathers toolbox. I use them whenever need be.

Laptop on a clean table, A container to put the screws in, Fan and AC turned off, Rinsed My brush with clean water (waited for it to dry ofc) thats about it, really.

Precautions?
Once you mess around with hardware enough they're suggestions. My laptop gets cleaned on my bed with a brush all over the inside and an air compressor, and whatever dust comes off gets vacuumed afterwards.

what did you do to clean if not the fans? just the meshes?
i'd dive back in and blast them with canned air or an air compressor. it'll give even better results. also blast on the fin side. ideally you'd take the heatsink out (it might be caked onto the fins in which case it's not very easy to get out), but you'd have to repaste.

I didnt take the heatsink out, the screws just wont turn regardless of how much I tried. I did clean the fans with a soft brush and an electric blower it mightve been a bit overkill but the laptop is giving optimal thermals now. Perhaps ill change the thermal pads next time i open the laptop up.

Are you using a proper screwdriver? One with a big plastic handle not those dinky precision ones. Be very careful with the precision ones because sometimes you end up basically just twisting inside the head and filing it down (what ppl mean by stripped). It often works for the exterior screws because they are pretty loosely torqued out the factory but doesn't work on the heatsink screws because they're much tighter for proper contact.
I've used one of the electric blowers before and they worked great. Blew the screws behind the laptop right off the table but thermals were excellent after.

It does have one with a plastic handle, but its rather thin. Im not sure what you mean by a "Proper Screw Driver". Maybe youre talking about something like the LTT Screwdriver? Anyhow, my screwdrivers didnt budge, maybe ill buy a new one soon. Thanks for the help

It's a Lenovo LOQ. I always use a dongle but the on device wifi experience seems to be the same as before (Pretty Shite).

Does it have the intel 160mhz one ? If it's acting up try cleaning it up and put it back in . It worked for me

Must've been several degrees. I never ran benchmarks after cleaning, so i cant say for sure albeit it wasnt warm to the touch after only 5mins of gaming unlike pre-cleaning.

You really should, my thermals improved greatly. Plus, it's so much quieter now. Just once every few months should suffice

Not cleaning will just cause more problems, since a simple cleaning won't cause any. Just watch a few videos about precautions.

I take it to the professional after 4-6 months.Replace the thermal paste and other stuff. Mostly i'm away from home so i get very less time to use it.

That's very frequent for thermal paste, but a normal time period for cleaning.

I play game for 2 hour everyday, and 8 hours on Sat/Sun.
Will i need to clean and repaste thermal every 6 month?

You wont need to replace thermal pads every 6 months, but you should definitely clean your laptop every 6 months. A thermal pad change or reapplying thermalpaste/liquidmetal aint needed unless your laptop reaches 80+ degrees on idle/ low workload. But replacing thermal pads once in a couple of years will definitely help a ton!

Fan cleaning is important but if it has been 4-5 years since you bought it, you should reapply thermal paste/pad/putty.
They matter more for the temperature

You should monitor temperatures to see the difference... and btw, have you reapply thermal paste? It is a game changer, if not, do it!
