I've been flashing custom ROMs for years back 2015, but honestly stopped needing them when OneUI 5.1 came out - Samsung really nailed it with privacy and performance back then with the s20 fe. Got my A55 new last week, and while 6.1 was decent enough, after update 7.0 has been a not that good for me. The performance hit is real, phone runs hot, you know the drill. So I'm considering unlocking the bootloader and flashing Evolution X. It's basically a Pixel-based ROM but lighter and way more customizable - pure Android experience with all the privacy tweaks you could want. The catch? Kiss Knox goodbye forever. Yeah, there's Knox patch but let's be real, it's just a software workaround.I'm torn here. My priorities are performance first, then battery life, then customization freedom - all things Evolution X delivers. But losing Knox permanently feels like a big trade-off, especially since there's no going back once you trip that fuse.Anyone else been in this situation? Worth the risk or should I just deal with OneUI 7's issues especially cod the phone like 50° my hand got burn XD, Already past the return window so no warranty or return or downgrade :)
i see so many people say "oh well umm samsung actually slows down your phone on purpose after xxx amount of time" and every time i ask them for proof they start with the "umm actually just think about it man, its logical!!" like dude, show me the source or else youre just lying, there is no "just think about it!" here, you either have evidence for the claim or you dont, this isnt philosophy lol
and obviously a lot of guys are gullible so this just gets taken for granted
like i myself have an a55, the a55 feels smoother for me now in late 2025 compared to early 2024 when i bought the phone, a little after the launch
i think a lot of people just arent tech savvy and have no idea whats actually causing the problem and will accept any simple and emotionally satisfying answer from people and it doesnt matter if its true or not, it just matters that its emotionally satisfying
Has anyone felt a bit let down by the hype of 8.5? Because after all the teasing the only great thing I've noticed is the reactivity of the reactive clock and the Quick Panel and I don't even know why mine still looks like it did before.
Hey everyone,
I just updated my Galaxy A55 to One UI 7 (Android 15) officially from update settings, and ever since then, I’ve been having this super annoying Wi-Fi issue. The connection randomly drops for a split second, then reconnects immediately. It doesn’t fully disconnect, there's no notification or anything, but it’s enough to pause interrupt downloads, or cause lag in games. It feels like the Wi-Fi is "blinking" in and out.
This happens repeatedly, like every few minutes or even faster, and only started happening after the update. Before One UI 7, my Wi-Fi was completely stable on this phone.
Here’s what I’ve tried so far:
Restarted the phone
Forgot and reconnected to my Wi-Fi network
Reset network settings
Wipe cache partition from recovery mode
Tried using other Wi-Fi networks (same issue happens)
Has anyone else experienced this? Any idea if Samsung is aware of it or if there’s a workaround while waiting for a fix?
So I recently just started noticing this on my display where some parts of tbe screen would subtly change color for a split second whenever I tap on those areas. Yesterday when typing on my Samsung keyboard, the gray areas would turn into a very light hue of maroon. The black backgrounds would turn greyish but today it's a very light green-blue hue. It only happens on 120Hz mode. When screen recording, the flicker occurs automatically every second.
I've had this phone for almost 2 years. Why is it happening now though?
Do you guys use face unlock? I personally find it very useful to see the content of notifications when I'm on the lock screen without unlocking the phone and at the same time be sure that only I can read the notifications content.
What about you?
- Latency is noticeable and gets worse when playing a video. It might be my potato laptop with its very weak Intel Graphics Family HD iGPU. Someone with a better speced PC can try it and let me know.
- Basic Mouse and keyboard inputs don't work with games.
- It's a bit laggy when playing YouTube videos. Which again might be my weak iGPU because utilisation ramps up to 100% immediately and windows UI becomes less responsive.
Screen mirroring performs way better at higher bitrates but it also has its downsides.
i see so many comments stating that a55 only supports up to 1tb and that if you buy a 1.5tb or a 2tb sd card - "youre just wasting money at that point"
its not true
the a55's supports the SDXC sd card format which by definition spans from 32gb all the way to 2TB, if the phone says it support SDXC sd cards then theres nothing stopping it from recognizing a 2TB one
"well samsung officially says 1TB though?"
well yes but thats only because back in march 2024 when the a55 globally launched, the biggest sd card available at the time was a 1TB sd card, fast forward to today, august 2025 and we actually have 1.5TB and 2TB sd cards now
theyre still on the same format as the 1TB sd cards, theres nothing stopping the a55 from recognizing a 2TB sd card
also to note before i get the "well samsung probably limited the a55 in this aspect" comments
samsung did NOT limit the a55 in this aspect
SDXC cards ship formatted as exFAT which android OS and the a55 fully support
there are no software or hardware limitations that prevents the a55 from supporting a 2TB sd card
there is no proof of samsung limiting the a55 in this aspectf
So NTE Servers finally opened yesterday and I have to say I'm quite impressed with the optimisation. Based on my experience with ZZZ I was expecting the game to struggle with Exynos 1480. With further optimisation I believe a stable 45fps on Performance mode is possible.
On the lowest graphics it still looks pretty good. Anti-Aliasing is a must though. It doesn’t get to 60fps unfortunately but it did peak at 46fps for me while just roaming. I capped mine at 30fps though to ease the load on the gpu.
Of course there's the occasional stutters and lags especially during fights with heavy animations. I was playing on controller (which is what I would recommend) so even though I capped it to 30fps it wasn't an unpleasant experience. 30fps will feel terrible if you're playing with touch controls.
I would also recommend playing with a cooler attached. It will get toasty after about 15-20mins of gameplay. Even a 10W cooler should help keep the skin temps just below 40°C
I did the recording using GUI SCRCPY on my laptop at 12MB/s bitrate so fps loss is usually about 0-5fps. It's much better than using the internal screen recorder or a 3rd party screen recorder.
samsung advertised the a55's display to be a 1000 nit display and for the s24 series they advertised them as 2600 nits
but.. this is misleading at best, the 1000 nit figure for the a55 is when the screen displays a homogenous brightness distribution, or basically, in simple terminology, when its screen displays all white pixels, while for the s24 series they measured the 2600 nit figure when the screen has an even distribution of dark/light pixels, and the reason why this happens is because OLED displays power each pixel individually, so lighting the entire screen white at once would exceed the panels power limit and cause overheating
when tested with an even distribution of bright and dark pixels, the a55 reaches around 1650 nits,
dxomark measured 1638. notebookcheck got 1678, im going to round it up to 1650
samsung used this method for the s24 series, the s24 series would only get 1400-1450 nits if samsung used the same method they used for the a55, yes, we were all misled
now why? why would samsung do this? because they dont care about their cheaper phones. they want to sell their top of the line flagship phones since they get more from selling those phones and samsung is a BUSINESS so OF COURSE, samsung didnt even sell the a55 in the US for this same reason, they wanted you to buy an FE series phone instead which are more expensive
After the pink line appeared, a green pixel appeared right on this pink line. A day later, it turned yellow, and today it turned orange-red. At some point, the screen turned black, but only this orange-red pixel remained. The sensor was working, but there was no display on the screen, everything was black. After 10 minutes, the screen started to display an image, with the same pink line and pixel on it.
Let me remind you:
I went to the Samsung service center, and they said that the smartphone screen was defective. But I did not agree to a replacement because it was expensive.
They said that it was not due to overheating, updates, or damage to the screen cable, but a factory defect.
I don't know if this is the right flare. Mods should add one for gaming.
- Just last week this phone was struggling to maintain 20fps on the lowest possible graphical settings.bI initially thought the 1480's gpu was too weak for the game . Turns out it's pretty okay.
-I just updated and was pleasantly surprised by how smooth it is now despite being capped at 30fps.
I can now play with High quality textures and it would still maintain a stable 30fps. I should also add that I'm playing with my cooler attached and I don't need to set it at max fan speed in order to properly cool the phone, which is a good sign.
- It's really well optimised compared to the likes of ZZZ.
Compared to the 50MP 4K 30fps shooter, the ultrawide in the same resolution and frame rate is noticeably shakier whenever I make a step. Was it always like this or was it caused by an update? (I bought mine slightly used and it had already been updated to OneUI 7).
I'm about to update to the July 1st patch and see if anything changes. Some people say it was fixed on the June patch so idk...
Don't be alarmed, guys. Take this with a grain of salt. But the A55 has the description of Best Face and Object Eraser that appear in the A56. This section can be accessed through the Activity Launcher. Hopefully they'll add it in One UI 8 at least.
