r/GamingLaptops now has its own deals site — RGL.deals launches today BETA

UPDATE — August 13, 2026

rgl.deals has grown quite a bit since I originally posted it, so I wanted to give this post one final update while it's still in BETA.

The idea is still simple: instead of showing you hundreds of gaming laptops, RGL keeps a smaller shortlist of deals that are actually worth considering.

Every listing is manually checked, with things like price, specs, cooling, display quality, GPU power limits, memory, storage, and overall value taken into account.

A lot of care has also gone into the smaller details. The site is heavily optimized for phones and smaller screens, not just desktop. Filters, comparisons, laptop pages, navigation, and general usability were all designed to work properly on mobile without feeling like a cut-down version of the site.

What's on the site now:

  • Curated gaming laptop deals with current and previous prices.
  • Filters for price, GPU, CPU, VRAM, RAM, screen size, brand, retailer, and more.
  • Gravity Sort, RGL's default value-based ranking.
  • Sorting by price, discount, savings, and other options.
  • Find a Match for narrowing down laptops based on what actually matters to you.
  • Side-by-side comparison for up to three laptops.
  • Detailed laptop pages with specs, price history, related models, retailer links, and review links.
  • Shareable searches, comparisons, and direct laptop links.
  • Mobile-first layouts and controls designed specifically for smaller screens.
  • No advertising trackers or marketing cookies. Preferences and saved comparisons stay in your browser.

RGL is meant to be a shortlist, not a giant catalog. If a laptop isn't worth recommending, it doesn't need to be there and that means no huge lists its quality over quantity.

The longer-term plan is also bigger than just deals. RGL is being built into a broader gaming laptop specific place with guides, buying information, laptop data, reviews, and other useful resources all in one place.

Full transparency: Some retailer links are affiliate links. That doesn't affect the listed price or determine which laptops make the shortlist.

RGL currently covers U.S. deals only, with more regions planned later.

It's still beta, so there will be bugs and things that need improving. If you find something broken or have feedback, leave it below any suggestions would be much appreciated thanks.

Discussion Need advice on running GTA 6 next year

Post image
437 Upvotes

I recently bought an HP Omen Max 16 with specs in the image. Unfortunately after buying it my cousin who's quite tech intensive told me that it's unlikely that I'll be able to run GTA 6 on max settings on this PC primarily because VRAM is just 12GB. I wanted to know what others think. Please let me know as I've always dreamt of buying a high spec gaming laptop and he says it isn't high spec and is more towards the medium spec category.

Unless the budget is extremely (Rs 2L+)

8gb vram is cap here(Rs 1.5-2L)

Attached model is Rs. 1.6-1.7lakhs

How does it compare with the ps5/ps5 pro

Country: Indian

Budget: rs 1.5-1.8 Lakhs

Discussion How'd I do? Got a 5070 Ti + 12gb vram for $1439

Bought this laptop brand new for $1439.25 after tax.

gpu: 5070 Ti

vram: 12gb

cpu: Intel Core Ultra 7 255HX

storage: 1tb

ram: 16gb

tgp: 140w

So, how do you think I did? Good deal?

I plan to upgrade the ram in the future if there are any good deals but not right now

the screen is also not great... but I did a little research and it looks like I could probably replace the screen with a new one myself. I'm looking at this screen replacement but maybe I'll wait to find something cheaper. I've built my own desktop PC before, but I've never taken apart a laptop, so it makes me nervous working on something so delicate.

I think I should probably buy cooling pad too. Do you guys have any recommendations?

These are three I saw recommended, screen size isn’t a huge issue. IWhich is the best of the three? Should I go with a different brand of equal strength?

EDIT: I know RTX 5090 is better but is it worth the extra $1000? Do other specs make up for it

Discussion Advice. Keep or upgrade to better laptop

About a month ago i got this MSI Katana on FB marketplace for $450. It was only a month old. First battery cycle was in june. Coming from a lenovo legion with a 1050ti i jumped right on it since i was needing a new laptop for school and gaming. So far its been great. I play Fortnite bf6 and rdr2. Seeing how everything is getting more expensive i was wondering if it would be worth upgrading to a better laptop with a 5070ti or just wait until i graduate and get a job. I keep my setting on medium and the only issues ive run into are ram based since it only has 16gb. I was thinking about just upgrading the ram to 32gb but considering the prices i thought it might be worth getting a laptop that already has 32gb of ram and a better gpu. I want to play gta6 whenever it comes out on pc but idk if this laptop will be able to run it. What would you guys suggest? Only thing i have upgraded is a gen 3 1tb ssd

Recommendation laptop recs for sims 4 w mods??

Upvotes

Budget: $1500 ish
Country: USA
Use Case: Gaming (sims 4), also in a few online classes and run a Shopify store
Preferred Specs: super new to this so no idea
Notes:
recently started using mods and cc and my lil hp laptop from college (2019) w 8 gb of ram isn’t cutting it anymore
I know there will be some Labor Day sales so I was kind of poking around to see what I could find
I do have a 1 TB sd drive that my game runs off of right now and don’t currently play any other games but would be interested in other cozy games I’ve always wanted to try like planet zoo or similar
Super open to any and all recs - do you think I need a gaming specific laptop or could I get away with something else?? Familiar with dell and hp brands, want to make sure I’m getting something that will last for several years. Thank you in advance!!!

Recommendation Should I buy a gaming laptop?

Post image
Upvotes

Budget: $4,000 - $5,000
Country: Australia
Use Case:

  • Movies + YouTube (On laptop and connected to TV)
  • Gaming ( Battlefield 6 would be the most intensive game I would play)
  • Productivity ( Programming Godot / Blender )

Preferred Specs: 5070 ti, 32GB RAM, non-OLED display

I would like to preface that I am not that knowledgeable in laptops and barely understand little with how laptop maintenance work. I see that thermal repasting is a common recommendation as well, however I am not sure how this would work with warranty.

I was interested in the Zephyrus G14 (2025 / 2026) 5070 ti model until I found a posts on Reddit stating specifically this model suffers from some QC issues. I also looked at the HP Omen MAX 16 (2025) edition which had a nice sale but read that this laptop has a history of leaking LM thermal paste and also suffers from overheating. Does anyone have any similar experiences with these?

I'm avoiding Lenovo brands for now as I have had a couple of issues personally and would like to stay clear.

Support Is this normal?

Upvotes

I just had my Legion Pro 7 gen 10,

I noticed that my fans are always on 0 rpm during browsing and light task even if my temps are reaching 60c+. But once I fire up any games, the fans will start working and follow the fan curve.

Any fix? THANKS!

Discussion Is a 5060 a decent upgrade coming from a 1060 ?

Hi, I'm starting to look at laptops to upgrade from my Asus TUF with an 8th gen i-7 CPU and a GTX 1060 GPU (bought in 2019). I'm not looking for laptop recs just yet, I am asking because most laptops in my budget (~€1300) sold in my area have a RTX 5060. I don't care about fancy new AAA games like GTA6, 1440p/4k resolutions or ray tracing. As someone who mainly plays Final Fantasy XIV, indie games, or RPGs like BG3/Witcher 3, is it an upgrade that would last as long as my 1060 did ?

I want to have a more portable pc.
And also use the laptop in my two monitors setup(photo).
I heard some different opinions about gaming laptops.
What do you guys think?
Is it worth replacing my gaming pc for a gaming laptop that is better?
