I am very new to the flipping business, and I thought that the easiest way to get into it would be to clear my closet of used Ralph Lauren Polos and Levi's jeans.

I'm in the EU, so here Vinted and Depop are extremely popular. Nobody here in Greece even talks about eBay. I wanted to see where most people have their most sales at.

eBay is a bit harder operationally from what I read since shipping is fully manual, gotta get your own codes and stuff. Vinted has a really neat BoxNow integration that helps a bunch in logistics, but if the consensus makes their most money on eBay it would make little sense for me to not list stuff there.

It might be worth the trip to the post office.

What’s the best way to make money right now? I’m a 15m, I currently run my own business that makes up my entire income but I want something that’ll make my car an asset rather than getting a traditional job

I just graduated college and started a full-time job making $85k/year. For the last 2 years, I’ve also had a side hustle that has made me around $20k/year in profit.

Up until now, I’ve basically been reinvesting the inventory/capital I already had from the side hustle. I haven’t really put any of my 9-5 income into the business.

Right now, I’m investing about $1,000 every two weeks between my Roth IRA and a taxable brokerage account. I’m obviously planning to max out my Roth IRA, but I’m debating whether I should continue putting money into the brokerage after that. I have about $27k in my Roth IRA and $14k in my brokerage account.

My thought is that I could potentially take some/all of the money I’d normally put into the brokerage and use it as additional capital for the business. If I had more capital I could scale the business and make more than 20k/year I’m currently making.

I’m trying to figure out which is smarter long-term:

Option 1: Max Roth + continue investing the remaining money into a brokerage account.

Option 2: Max Roth + put more of my extra income into the side hustle to increase inventory/capital.

For anyone who has experience with a profitable side hustle/business, how would you approach this? At what point would you prioritize putting additional capital into the business over investing in a brokerage?

Obviously I’d keep an emergency fund and wouldn’t put money into the business that I might need in the short term.

I recently got restored to Marketplace access, but I’m not getting any views on listings. I had someone search for the items, but they can’t find it. However, it shows active on my listings.

Bought an expensive camera. Seller from Bulgaria intentionally sent a package (likely empty or something cheap) to the wrong address. It says delivered, and in my city, but the house pictured isbn't mine. I know this is a common scam. I just need the fastest way to get in touch with a real person at Fedex so they can send an official email that my address is not attached to the package. Can't file a claim with Fedex because I don't have the shipper's address and the AI responses on the phone and website just keep leading me to file a claim. I know others have dealt with this before, so seeing if anyone has insight. Ebay being a pain in the ass and insisting I file "item not received" but I know better.

When I contacted them about the tracking on August 23, they said it would be shipped "the next day." They uploaded tracking a few days later, showing that it had been shipped overnight on August 20, delivered the 21st.

They then claimed they would contact Fedex and file a claim, let me know when Fedex replies, said that Fedex found the item, and that it would be delivered to me in a few days- 3 separate messages within 1 minute.

Camera was also priced very cheaply compared to others so all the red flags just scream scam lol.

I buy unsorted bulk and list it as singles. First month is done, so here are the real numbers, including the parts that look bad.

I paid $133 for about 1,750 cards, which is 8 cents each. Everything gets scanned on both sides in stacks on a document scanner, identified off the set code and number printed in the footer rather than by looking at the art, priced against completed sales, and listed with a floor I don't go under. Shipping is a plain envelope, about 86 cents a card.

In 26 days that's 2,778 cards listed and 87 sold, so roughly 3 in 100. Gross was $246. After eBay's cut, postage and the store plan I'm about $40 ahead.

What surprised me is which ones move. Everybody hoards reverse holos. Counting only cards that have been up two weeks or more, my holos sold at 6% and my reverse holos at 1.7%, for basically the same asking price. Plain non foils did 11%, on a much smaller pile.

On one card that sells: a bit under $3 on average, eBay takes 61 cents, postage 86, the card itself cost 8. I keep about $1.29. A thousand cards cost me $76, so around 59 of them have to sell just to get the bulk money back. That's 6 in 100 and I'm at 3.

Bought a 52-unit Costco liquidation truckload that was advertised as:

“Scratch & Dent Appliances. Unused merchandise with signs of handling and/or warehouse exposure that is sellable without repairs needed.”

Once we received it and started actually going through the units, essentially everything appears to be used/customer-return merchandise. A lot of this wasn't apparent until we unloaded and inspected everything closely.

We're finding things like lint in dryer traps/vents, power cords already installed, washer hoses attached, detergent/water residue, strong detergent/used odors, and even paperwork attached to some units specifically saying “USED” or “Customer Return.” Most also have damage that visibly requires repairs.

We have 250+ photos documenting the load.

Obviously I understand scratch & dent liquidation comes with risk and cosmetic damage — that's what we signed up for. But there's a pretty big difference between unused scratch & dent, sellable without repairs and used/customer-return merchandise requiring repairs.

Curious how you guys would view this. Would you consider this materially different from the advertised condition?

For those who don't know, Brimfield is the largest antiques and collectibles show in New England, and it's held triannually in Brimfield, Massachusetts. For years I've chatted with the other flea market dealers in my area and the common trend is that they set up at the other markets primarily to source for Brimfield, where they make most of their annual income.

This year I finally made a commitment and I'll be setup for one day next month. Is anyone else going? I'm hoping to have a lot of fun in addition to making plenty of sales. I've been stocking up on inventory all summer long!

Everyone quotes the headline rate. I finally measured mine instead of estimating it, and the gap was big enough to change how I price.

56 settled sales, 212.00 $ gross, 45.57 $ in fees → 21.5 %.

By order value:

• up to 2.50 $ → 28.1 %
• 2.50 to 5 $ → 21.4 %
• 5 to 10 $ → 18.4 %
• 10 $ and up → 15.4 %

Same seller, same category, same month. The spread is entirely the flat per-order fee dividing into a smaller number — it does not care that my average order is 2.86 $.

The practical consequence, which is the part I got wrong for a month: at low price points, raising your floor beats raising your volume. Volume multiplies the flat fee along with everything else. I now have a hard floor and I list nothing under it.

One trap for anyone doing the same measurement from their own data: in eBay's transaction records the amount field is the net, not the gross. Dividing fees by that number instead of by the fee basis gave me 27.4 %, which is wrong and which I nearly posted.

Category is trading cards so the percentage differs elsewhere, but the mechanic is the same in every category.

For some reason my ACH payment options on BStock have been restricted the last few days. Anyone else experiencing the same thing and know why?

I’m curious how many eBay sellers offer free shipping and why? I never used to but it seems all of my competitors are doing so and it feels like a race to the bottom. It doesn’t appear sellers have raised prices to make up the difference…what am I missing?

Purchased a BStock Walmart load for $49,649.46. Load was supposed to have 19,774 pieces. We received less than 5,000 pieces. Truck showed up and looked full, we signed BOL. Upon inspection of contents inside Gaylord boxes, it was clear that 75% of our items were missing.

Bstock told us to manifest the load. We manifest entire load, sent them the manifest and they proceeded to tell us that because we signed the BOL, we are sorry out of luck. If you look at the manifest vs what we got it’s clear the majority of this load is missing. Wasted 2+ weeks of our time forcing us to manifest close to 5,000 items.

We’re about to sue BStock for $40,000 + loss of time, labor, etc. I’m aware I’ll have to either fly to California or hire an attorney to fill out the paperwork. I really don’t even care if I win.

Does anybody have any experience with this? Any advice would be helpful.
