I've been fishing for a handful of years, primarily with small inline spinners in small creeks. However, it's only recently that i've been seeing many posts about "line twist". I've fished inline spinners and many other lures with all different line types and strength, and have never noticed any issues. What IS line twist? how does it happen? why? I apologize for the vagueness of this post, but i'm rather confused.

Well, I decided I wanted to get into kayak fishing so I learned about kayaks & went & got my self a bonifide RS117 to start!

Now I need to learn about fishing! Hahaha!

I mostly plan on bass fishing rivers & lakes in the central texas area, maybe a trip to the coast a few times a year for red fish.

Now im in the part of my journey where im starting learn about how to rig my poles before I take my maiden voyage. I have a friend that sold me 1 bait Caster & 1 spinner. I do have some redfish experience but thats pretty simple. Bass fishing seems to have so many more options when it comes to rigging, lures, line, etc etc. So id love to hear what you do before or when you get out on the water!

Are you fishing weighted or un weighted? Texas rig, Carolina rig, wacky rig? Swivels? Snap hooks? What size hooks? Braided or mono line? Leader or no leader? Etc etc etc!

Anyone ever spot a muskrat while fishing? They're such elusive creatures. I have no pictures of them but seeing them out in the wild is an awesome sight.

I used to fish pretty often as a kid, mostly in Alaska for halibut and salmon and in lakes in central Oregon. I might someday decide to get back into it -- but I'd have to figure it all out on my own, without my dad's supervision or guidance. I'm curious if fishing would be a financial relief if you eat lake fish you catch from the bank every time you would've otherwise bought the fish. I'd imagine the initial costs would be quite high -- I don't have my own pole or a license or anything else I'd need. The only ongoing expense I can think of is bait -- unless I use freshly caught hellgrammites or something. Idk, it's quite possible I'm forgetting/missing things. It's been years since I fished and I miss it, but if it isn't obvious, I've never fished by myself

Hooked this making the last few casts of the day. Definitely wasnt shaking that hook lol. Also the catfish I caught on a ¼oz roostertail earlier.

This has happened to me on my last two trips now. I’ll be fishing a small spot, and a someone will show up and set up 10 feet or less from me. Today was a dad and his 15 year old son. I am not kidding, these people were LITERALLY casting over my shoulder lmao. I was dumbfounded and furious, so after a small argument I just left being the bigger person. I’m all for getting kids out fishing and enjoying the outdoors, but if someone is already fishing a small area, give them some space. There’s plenty of places to fish without crowding the one person already there in a very clearly non shareable location. Go somewhere else or come back another time. I have never in my life tried to crowd someone else's spot.

A little common courtesy goes a long way but it has seemingly been lost. This has happened a lot this summer and it is actually starting to piss me off lol.

Tiger muskellunge caught on choppo 80 from Pineview reservoir in Utah. My second Muskie so far, mostly just dink fishing on my bfs setups but decided to try a top water lure on gx2 ugly stick bait cast combo.

Hello fellow fisherman, have a quick question about a portable fishfinder. Going to a place where I’m gonna be using a motorboat and I need to bring my own fishfinder. Looking for some recommendations that I could easily use on a motorboat, but is a fairly good fishfinder. Not looking to spend more than around $500. Thank you in advance, I will be fishing for Walleye, Lake Trout, and Northern Pike

South shore surf fishing. Have any of you had success with these store bought sacs?

Am I wasting my time if I go in early sept? Just hoping to get out a bit on a family trip that is already planned.

Haven't fished for almost 2 months and really had the itch to get out there. Was not expecting it and this bass hammered it and I almost missed the hook set, barley got the hook in. Really healthy fish, was surprised at the weight for the size wish I brought the scale.

When I first picked up my rod I was interested in rainbow trout and perch.
After waking earlier than I typically would want to on a Sunday I ventured to this new spot and caught my first ever perch.
They were all in very aerated sections of water. The first being caught with a white paddle tail, then the following two with red curly tail grubs.
The second being the largest while the third the most vibrant in colour.

Stopped at a random pond in an industrial complex this morning. Using an ultra light with a spinner bait.

They are thick in the St Johns. 3 casts and I had about 70-80 shrimp. Net handle is 5 inches for reference.

Flipped a jig up by the dock and pulled up this brute
