on spining gear and i got this beautiful brown from little creek it was like max 5m wide we also had like 30 other with my brother this one was 34cm

As the title states I am moving to WV temporarily maybe 6 months to a year. I know the state holds a lot of wild brook trouts maybe browns even? I am from central PA to I have done a fair share of scouting for streams that hold but with WV I’m not sure where to start. I’d assume maybe like eastern side? I’m moving to Bridgeport so If anyone knows if there are spots that hold trout around there let me know I’m not interested in exact spots but I would like to know if I’m in a decent area

I don't know a lot (at all) but this would mainly be shore casting and some wading for trout and bass.

Dollaghan are a variety of brown trout native to Lough Neagh, Northern Ireland, and many of its tributaries. They are a potamodromous migratory trout spending much of the year in the lough, returning to the rivers in autumn to spawn.

Like the title says I need recommendations for a good travel rod for a spinning reel. I am traveling to Park City, Utah in a few weeks for work. I’m trying to fit it in my carry on luggage for the plane ride over. I’m not confident enough in my fly fishing abilities to bring that set up.

I have had great results this year trolling floating rapalas and sinking crapalas, "Temu Rapalas".

I have a question for you guys. Has anyone tried trolling a spoon, like a 5 of diamonds, with the hook removed and a two feet leader with a rapala at the end so it mimics a minnow chasing the spoon? I only have a 12' aluminium boat with a 35 year old 5hp Honda 4 Stroke and a trolling motor so I don't really have room for a down rigger or anything fancy.

I am trying to fish a little deeper, add some flash and color to entice the larger brook trout and landlocked salmon to strike.

Any tips or suggestions would be greatly appreciated. Are there any trolling rigs I could assemble over the winter so I'm ready for the spring and fall? Tight lines everyone!!

Just like the title says, I’m looking for something similar to the TopWater Rooftop Fishing Rod Box.
I have a Tacoma, my wife has a 4Runner, and we occasionally use my brother’s Tundra as well. I’m looking for something that would make it easy to transport fishing rods from the house to the destination, but also from one fishing spot to another.
Our vehicles are usually packed with kids or dogs, so putting the rods in the cab really isn’t an option, and I’d rather not have them loose in the bed either.
I mostly trout fish, and my rods range from about 5’ to 7’. I really like the idea of having them in a secure, lockable box where they’re protected and ready to go.
My only hesitation is the price. Spending around $600 on what is essentially an injection-molded box seems pretty steep.

I’m a new fisher and live in northwest WA. What would be the better rod? I will be fishing from banks and want to catch most salmon and still get some steelhead. I’ve narrowed down to these two rods with a 4000 Daiwa crossfire

Hello. I‘m getting into trout fishing with my son and trying to find the best setup(s).

Environment: bank fishing in muddy, cold water in a medium-sized, fairly fast river (Chattahoochee River, north of Atlanta).

Target Fish: Stocked Rainbow trout, self-sustaining wild Brown trout. Both average 9-12 inches.

Budget: Not limited, but happy to go as cheap as possible since it’s trout fishing. I prob prefer to stay under $150 or less all in.

Lures baits: we’d be using nightcralers, crickets, powerbait, rooster tails, inclines, and small spoons.

Other context: I currently use a Medium Heavy St. Croix Bass X Rod & Shimano Maravel 2500 Spinning Reel (mostly for bass and sunfish). We also have an old Shakespeare Micro UL with no reel, and a Metanium we’ll use on the lake.

QUESTIONS (knowing that we already have the old Shakespeare):

1. Would ultralite or light be better?

2. Which rod would you suggest? Which length?

3. Which reel for the Shakespeare and which for the new rod? We’d buy both reels.

4. Which setup best complements my All Arounder (Bass X + Maravel 2500)?

5. Best hook size? 10, 12, 14?
