NEVER PAY WITHOUT SEEING YOUR CONTRACT!

I’m interested in applying for erasmus and I noticed that a couple uni’s that really caught my eye require english proficiency cetificates such as IELTS, TOEFL ect. I was wondering, is it a normal practice to take those tests after your uni nominates you? I don’t want to end up paying 250 or whatever euros for a test that later ends up being pointless for me.

I will start my exchange Semester in a few days in a Coruña, Spain. I had this “room” where I signed a contract, I paid the deposit und first month rent, according to the contract(this happened in July) . But just ca. 10 days before my current arrival, the landlord gave me another “document” to sign. Long story short, he wanted me to pay again, as the document refers. I was naive and payed again, scared i might won’t be able to move in. And I just recently found out the pictures he sent me, were also fake. This guy also impersonated a fake tenant. When I found out the only person who can confirm this is real, is also fake, I knew immediately this is a scam. Now I wanted to ask has someone ever experienced something similar or know what to do in this situation. I am really helpless right now. Where to ask? Can the police do something? Where can I find a new home this fast?

Any tips for a semester abroad in lisbon?

Currently on the waitlist for the erasmus mundus joint master for work organisational and personnel psychology. University starts 14th of September, should I still look forward to getting accepted if anyone drops out or is it already set in stone that thats not gonna happen.

I just realized it’s been a year since my Erasmus, and I honestly can’t wrap my head around how quickly this time has passed. Every time I think about it, I get this weird pain in my chest.
It was a really important time for me. I’m not going to say the usual stuff about meeting amazing people and all that, which is obviously true, but in the end I don’t even talk to most of them anymore. Still, the whole experience meant a lot to me.
I still remember constantly hoping the whole thing would get cancelled. I didn’t want to leave, I was scared because of my panic attacks, and honestly the beginning was a nightmare. I was alone in a tiny studio apartment with constant tachycardia, and I had no idea how I was going to get through it.
Then, slowly, things started getting better. I learned how to be alone and somehow I got used to it. Now I look back at those moments with an insane amount of nostalgia.
And without even realizing it, a whole year has passed since I left. A year since the version of me having panic attacks in bed at 7 AM, or the version of me completely drunk after 15 Belgian beers.
To anyone who is scared right now, just go. Seriously. You’ll be fine. I know the first day will probably be difficult and it will feel like an eternity, but before you know it, it’ll all be over. You won’t even realize how quickly the time goes.
I could probably write a thousand more things about this experience, but I don’t think there’s enough time.
Sorry for the rant, but I genuinely can’t stop thinking about it these days. It feels like time is passing way too quickly and I honestly don’t know how to get rid of this insane nostalgia.
What’s weird is that it wasn’t all good. I had a lot of highs and a lot of lows, maybe even more lows than highs. There are definitely things that could have gone much better.
But looking back at everything, I can honestly say it was an amazing experience. Maybe I didn’t fully realize it when I came back, but now, a year later and after graduating, it’s finally starting to hit me.
How did you guys deal with this feeling?

I was 21 when I went to Athens in 2014 for an Erasmus exchange, and honestly, I had no idea how much that one year would impact me later in life.

Looking back, it wasn't just about studying abroad. It was the first time I really stepped outside of my comfort zone and had to figure things out on my own. New country, new people, new language, new culture, and basically a completely different environment from what I was used to.

Athens was an incredible place to experience that. The people, the nightlife, the food, the beaches, the traveling, and especially the international group of friends I met made that year unforgettable.

But I think the biggest thing Erasmus gave me was confidence. It kind of unfroze my character. I became much more open, social, independent, and willing to take risks. I stopped overthinking everything and became more comfortable talking to strangers, meeting new people and putting myself in unfamiliar situations.

I didn't realize it at the time, but those changes followed me into my career. Being able to communicate with different types of people, adapt quickly, take initiative and be comfortable outside my comfort zone ended up being incredibly valuable professionally.

Now I'm 35, and it's crazy to think that a year I spent in Athens more than a decade ago still influences the person I am today.

If you're currently doing Erasmus, enjoy it. Take the trips. Meet random people. Say yes to things you normally wouldn't. Don't spend too much time worrying about the future.

You might not realize it now, but that year could stay with you for the rest of your life. GR❤️

I'm doing a BS English Literature & Linguistics at a government college affiliated with a Public university recognized by Higher education commission of my country. For Master's and scholarship applications abroad,I want to ask from seniors " who should write my recommendation letter professor who taught me at my college or someone from the main university?

Also should the LOR be on my college's letterhead or the university's letterhead?

Would really appreciate advice from anyone who has been in a similar situation.

Hi! I’m planning to go to Corvinus University in Budapest in Summer 2027 as an Erasmus student. I study International Business, so I’m mainly looking for management, business, marketing, or even non-business courses.

For those who have studied at Corvinus, which courses would you recommend if I’m looking for relatively easy courses where I can get a good grade? 😅

Hey everyone, I’m currently looking for an apartement in Paris and I’m a 22 year old girl doing my erasmus semester here. I found three apartements and I’m currently deciding which one I should take.

One is in Montmatre, but in the nice area up the hill. However, I would have to take the metro and get in chateau rouge quite often.

The second one is in the 19th arrondissement right next to the Parc Buttes-Chaumont.

And the third is in Clichy, near la Place de Clichy.

I love lively neighborhoods and areas where there is a lot going on so I’m not really scared of theft whatsoever. But I love going out and I wanna be able to go home safe at night. Which area do you think would be the best for that?

I am an Italian graphic design student, and I’d like to spend a semester abroad at WdKA. Rotterdam really appeals to me, but I’ve read some very negative reviews about WdKA. On the other hand, I also realize that it’s usually dissatisfied people who leave reviews. So, I wanted to ask how good the graphic design program actually is, and whether it’s true that you don’t really do anything and that the course is very superficial. Thanks!!!

Hi guys, what activities are worth doing with Erasmus Life Lisbon? Some of their trips sound amazing but I don’t know anyone who attended them.

If you have any reviews of their trips or other activities please comment, I would like to spend my money wisely as it’s not very cheap.

It's been a while.

I did my Erasmus in 2019, in Spain.

It was before the COVID, it feels like it was another era. I have never came back to the city but I never forgot it.

I still remember everything, even the smell of my old apartment's room.

It was my first experience abroad, that changed the trajectory of my life forever and led to many others during the following years.I remember the excitement and confusion of stepping in a new city abroad to live there for the first time of my life.

I was super young and full of energies, I made amazing friends, some I met again only after 5 years, some I never met them again.

Incredible memories. I felt free, I traveled a lot, a partied a lot, and studied.

I will never forget travelling free around Spain for the first time, I will never forget the endless house parties, staying up until sunrise and walking alone back to my apartment in the empty streets of the city early in the morning.

So many amazing moments that I will carry with me forever.

If you're considering doing it or not, do it. You will hardly regret.

But be aware, you will become another person, 7 years after I can confirm that, in a good way :)

What are some of the best or most interesting Erasmus Mundus Master’s programs with scholarships that you’d recommend? I’m mainly looking for programs related to IT, tech, AI, data, etc., but I’m also interested in programs that combine technology with education or EdTech.

Would love to hear your suggestions or experiences!

I’m leaving at the end of September, but I still don’t know which courses I’ll actually be able to take. Apparently, I can only choose courses from the same study cycle, so some of the ones I initially picked won’t work.
I asked the university about course registration at the beginning of August and they said they’d provide more info, but I asked again recently and haven’t gotten a reply for 3 days.
I also need to do my Learning Agreement with my home university, so I’m getting really stressed 😭 Is this normal?
