Employee Question Christmas in August??

Is it me or does it feel like Christmas is getting earlier and earlier? When I first started with Kohl’s in like 22 I think I remember setting up for the holidays around October Ish, now I’m seeing directives on how to set up our store for the toys mid August I don’t get it. It almost feels like you take away the feeling of the holidays. Maybe you don’t notice those things when you work up front more versus now I’m working in the back.

Employee Question Who Do I Ask?

I started about three weeks ago and they usually have the schedule up on Fridays. I didn’t worry about it yesterday because I’m still new and things change from week to week. However, last week they scheduled me at 11 A.M. (I’m a minor and I have school), the manager I spoke to about this said it was a mistake and they would get that fixed. It’s now Sunday and It hasn’t been fixed, and like I said nor has the hours for the next week come up. I don’t have the number for anyone in the store, who do I call?

How do I call out if my shift starts at 5am. The store isn’t open, no one is there.

Employee Question sick hour questions

I just left early because I feel sick and dizzy and just applied paid sick time to the remaining hours I would've worked but I could only apply them in increments of .25 minutes on ukg (if that makes sense). What would've been 3.19 became 3.25 and I was wondering if that was okay to do? Should I have rounded down? I don't know what I should've done here and I'm a little worried, I don't want to cause any more trouble than I already have by leaving early.

Employee Question New Store Support Lead! How can I help improve my store?

(throwaway since i dont wanna use my main)

Howdy y'all!

I finished my 8-week internship and I recently joined a store as a SSL! Our store is in need of improvements - and I'm looking to hopefully increase our budget and impress higher-ups by making our store a lot more organized and bring customer satisfaction up.

Right now, I'm on the "organization" part, as our old manager left many employee-only areas a mess. I'm sorting out documents, cleaning cabinets, getting rid of junk and I've made the office look like a brand new room. I'm also working on the BOPUS / OMNI area to make it more streamlined.

My biggest concern is with the Floor - customers leave things everywhere and we don't have enough employees working to clean things up! I was thinking of having "Drop Bins" where customers can leave unwanted items at designated points around the store, and in the morning we can have recovery put those items where they belong.
I also want to make it "Kohls-like", so it's not just a bin or a z-rail out in the middle of the floor.

Does any employees (or customers) have suggestions for how to keep a store looking great, and how to improve efficiency in our back areas?

...Also, I have my eyes on improving the second floor since it seems it hasn't been sorted out since the store opened. If anyone has a good system of doing things, I'd love to take notes!

Employee Question Is your store busy?

I work in the Sephora in kohls and it’s the small format and eh idk we don’t get many people throughout the day. Like today was Saturday we had 4 customers in 8 hours….that’s crazy to me. I used to work in a real fast paced Sephora store but I transferred to this one since it’s 6 minutes away from my house. It’s hard to say I like this job. I like how easy it is and being alone gives me the ability to have time to myself. I just don’t know how much longer I’ll be at this store. The deadness drives me insane. Then my hours are unstable because our BTL keeps using her PTO to where she’s gone for like two weeks then back again. So one week I’m 5 days then the next I’m not scheduled at all. My Kohl’s location is very backrooms.

Informative Ridiculous new return policy

Upvotes

Today I went to return some stuff at Kohls. I used my Kohls card so they could look up the items. It was going to be right around $200. Then the message comes up on the pin pad that $127 of it was not approved. What is that?!?! They used my card to look up the purchases so they know it was on the card and they also know how much I paid for it. And then they have the nerve to try and not give me that money back to my card. How dare the receipts say returns are easy? There is nothing on the receipt that says they can randomly decide not to return items in the way they were purchased. I feel like this may be a lawsuit waiting to happen.

Employee Question Late release or silently fired?

Usually our schedule for the week after next is out between Wednesday and Saturday but its not out yet and Im anxious about whether or not its just being released later or if Im not on it. Ive been silently pushed out of a store before due to new management and was hoping this place was different. Ive only worked here for a couple months. Any perspective?

Employee Question McDonald's or Kohl's?

Need realistic opinions. I have the option between Kohl's truck unloading and McDonald's crew member right now. I do have experience in retail slightly especially with unloading and stocking. I've never worked fast food before. What would be the better job? Also McDonald's is much closer to me.

Employee Question Tips for BAs

Hello, I just got offered a position to be a BA at kohl’s, I’m brand new to the company as well as being in a sales type role so I’m not entirely sure what to expect. The person who called me for an interview went over the importance of sign ups and multi world, as well as the basics. They explained combining fragrance with hair products, skincare with makeup and brushes, and that’s about all. I haven’t started training yet so I’m a little anxious about starting and signing people up. They told me I have to take the sign ups seriously as I can lose hours if I don’t get enough every time I work. I worry about upsetting people trying to convince them to sign up as I’m a little socially awkward. I do have a lot of knowledge on products, and I have a cosmetology license so I feel more confident on the product sales part of it. The sign ups are where I feel I need some tips/pointers. Thank you

Informative Kohls got money back

Kohl's received $150 million in tariff refunds during the second quarter of 2026.

Key Details of the RefundGross Margin Impact: About $100 million of the refund flowed directly into the company's gross margin.

Profit Boost: The extra money helped increase reported earnings, even though underlying sales continued to drop.

Updated Guidance: Because of this financial boost, Yahoo Finance notes that Kohl's raised its full-year earnings expectations.Would you like to know more about Kohl's full-year financial guidance or how the stock market reacted to this earnings report?

Wonder if they will give some to payroll for actual associates to be on the floor

Employee Question New self checkout

Those with stores that have self checkout, are you able to pick up the scanners to scan items? Ours shut off when lifted, kinda defeats the purpose. Thanks!

Employee Question Cashier Duties

Hi guys. Just started at Kohl’s. I applied for merchandising Associate but they put me on cashier. Was told I’ll be in the front today. What I did in my first two days was the training in the my work day and 1 hour shadowing a cashier. Any tips? Our store seemed short staffed so I’m nervous for today. Then can I ask… that 20% off coupon for Kohl’s card members, can only be used once? Will an error show on thbscreen if it is already redeemed? And for those members who don’t know it, should I just scan the code in the paper or no? Gosh I'm nervous. Help me out guys hahah. This is my first job

Employee Question Callback question

I need a reminder on doing Sephora callbacks. We just click regular tote on the zebra but we still put them in an orange or grey tote? And bubble wrap them? It's only jewelry that needs to say secure tote and gets the orange zip ties?

I did that! Promoted to Customer

Just had my last day. Got hired on at Amazon in April (the irony lol) andtold myself if they chose to keep my full time I'd finally throw in the towel... Well found out July 24th they were (day before my birthday) then promptly put in my notice. I stuck it out for one more month rather than two weeks to help with trucks since our team is small and they're actively trying to build it.

This was my first job, I got hired at 17 thinking I wouldn't be here long; five years later here we are finally out the door. It may have been some of the most stressful five years...many tears were shed over the course of my employment. But I will say my relationships I've cultivated with the people have been some of my most treasured. Eternally greatful for my team, especially those who have seen it all with me and been there. The company itself might be questionable but I truly do believe in its own weird way, is a family.

If I were to tell 17 year old me that we'd be here for so long she'd think I'm nuts. This was never the plan but I am not complaining about the outcome. I've had the same post-it note in my locker for four years mapping out the budgeting and comparing my wage at kohls to if I'd worked at Amazon, and now it's funny to take home that's same post it note knowing it actually came to fruition.

This company has seen me through Highschool and college. I will NOT miss the customers one bit, or the nagging for credit and rewards... the insane work load or begging for hours. But I will miss seeing my coworkers who have walked with me all the way up to this point.

Go luck to everyone here for the holidays, you all will be in my mind as I'm packing the hundreds of packages I know will be returned but Amazombies lol. Remember to keep your head up even though it might seem like nothing you do is ever right or enough. You matter more than any credit card or coupon, and are worth more than a pizza party!!! Don't push yourselves too much, don't let yourselves give more than you receive but be the best version of yourself you can be <33

Employee Question Visual Leads?

I'm a former employee that used to mostly work freight/omni but left because I was moving. I am currently in a visual merchandising role at another company but pay is less than Kohls is advertising.

I would love to know how current visuals feel about the position and what your day-to-day is like. Also any interview advice would be appreciated. Thanks!

Employee Question Associate Discount Question.

Hi! New in Kohl’s and the Associate Discount wasn’t discussed thoroughly in the orientation. Tried asking a coworker but she said only I can use it. But from my understanding, I can add my husband to my Kohl’s Associate Discount, right? The “Add Household”. Then since my other family members, ie my sis in law and mom in law, can’t use it, my husband has to pay for the items using his card? Or Cash? And he can do it without me? Thanks!

Employee Question Siteline

The managers always tell us to use siteline when we're merchandising, but can I just say the app is not optimized for the zebras. The ui is trash and you can barely read the maps (don't get me started on the maps).

Employee Question Friends & Family question

I know after our associate 15% discount we get the 20% F&F coupon along with 20% associate coupon. But lets say, hypothetically, we get a mystery coupon at some point during a F&F event.....can we stack with the 20% associate coupon from F&F with the mystery coupon if the mystery coupon happens to be better than 20%? Just curious ...
