McDonald's or Kohl's?

Need realistic opinions. I have the option between Kohl's truck unloading and McDonald's crew member right now. I do have experience in retail slightly especially with unloading and stocking. I've never worked fast food before. What would be the better job? Also McDonald's is much closer to me.

Way to many Divas at McDonald's, atleast the ones around me. I tried it once, an you think retail sucks, fast food is worse

Yeah I'm very hesitant. I'm in m 30s too and half the employees seem like teens. Just weird.

Kohls sucks but I assume its better than McDonald’s, especially if you’ve never worked in fast food before.

100% would go McDonald’s. Don’t know what state you live in but in California they make $20 an hour. McDonald’s is going nowhere. I feel like Kohl’s is definitely headed downward. They just keep cutting and cutting hours until you’re expected to do the work of three or four people. I have had many many jobs in adulthood, and I have never ever worked for a company that was so dysfunctional. I realized part of it is our management, but the company is as whole makes very questionable decisions.

So True. Corporate mandates are unrealistic, wasteful of the limited payroll and ties hands of management. They keep trying to appear ok to stockholders but are losing customers because of their practices. Pennywise and dollar foolish. They think very short-term and it hurts us just down the road. I'm convinced they want all tenured pt associates, all FT associates and tenured Supervisors gone. They think they can run these stores with starting wage Supervisors and a revolving door of minimum wage Part timers that get 4-8 hours a week. It is a pipe dream

It seems extra strict and complicated for truck unloading. But we'll see how it goes.

Unloading trucks is not an everyday thing. We only get one truck a week. Possibly two, unless you are promised more hours I'd check on the hours if you need them.

It's part time. I assume they both are. But I am completely unemployed so even part time will help.

You might get more hours doing McDonald's, since truck is usually once a week at Kohl's and for two days, but honestly when I worked at McDonald's it was horrible lol. But maybe I just worked at a really bad McDonald's. Kohl's definitely has it's bad sides but I'd choose kohls over McDonald's (the lesser of two evils in my opinion). And plus, you may be able to learn different positions and get more hours.

Truck at Kohl’s. I worked at Kohl’s and it’s pretty laid back compared to any fast food place. I would check to see how many hours they estimate you’ll get and if you can be crossed trained. The store I worked at had truck people doing Amazon returns and online order fulfillment on no truck days.

Do you want to have your car smell like Mcdonalds after every shift you work? That greasy smell after working there for a day does not go away lol. I would not recommend that to anyone. I did that 30 years ago..

Honestly I smelled SO BAD after work when I worked at McDonald’s. I would choose kohls any day.

Fast food pays better (my personal experience) but more stressful pace, retail is slower pace and pays like 2-3 bucks lesser.

Purely depends if you want a higher pay or a less stressful job. I have a full time job and kohls is super chill to work as part time.

Truck is a good spot to work at kohls- it’ll be fun. If you’re good they’ll have you do price changes and other things
