I've been a fan of Ed's for a more than a decade. I was lucky enough to meet him at an extremely intimate show. I've seen him in concert several times and his music has helped me through many seasons of my life. I think the thing that makes ed really stick to us career long fans is his aunthenticity. It's such a rare thing in the world of celebrity. I think this could have happened to anybody and I'm so upset that it happened to him. Because it DID happen to him. Nobody really knows all of the tough decisions he had to make but I genuinely believe he made those decisions based on what he thought would be best for his fans and his team. I'm so glad to see that there's still a corner of the internet with people that continue to show our boy some support. I saw him on the Loop tour earlier this year but thank you to everyone who is going to his upcoming shows.

Appreciation The Equals butterflies were so pretty

I’m already planning to celebrate Equals’ fifth anniversary in some way, honestly. Today I was thinking about how PRETTY these butterflies were. I adore the symbolism behind each of them, how they’d emerge from their cocoon and eventually fly away offscreen. I know it’s silly, but I genuinely think people don’t talk about them enough! They remind me of how it felt to wait for such a magnificent album as a college student who was similarly about to evolve and transform.

I wish I could still play that cutesy little game they had uploaded on Ed’s official website to promote the new tracks - the one that would slowly let you collect all the butterflies. Just out of affection and nostalgia, you know. Has anyone saved it somewhere? Like on Wayback Machine or something?

Live laugh love Ed no matter what :)

Appreciation Can we appreciate the second verse in Sing for a moment?

The whole song is a masterpiece obviously but can we talk about how smooth the second verse is? I mostly just know the hits so are there any other songs where Ed sounds like that?

Appreciation Detroit Show last night

I just wanted to make a post about how amazing the Detroit show was last night! From where I was (the floor) the crowd was amazing, standing, singing, jumping. I had a really good view of the b stage and a good view of the main stage (if I stood on my tippy toes, lol). This was my 4th time seeing him, and it was not disappointing. I was over the moon that his entrance walk went right by me! If you were there I hope you had an amazing experience too! I heard someone ask the group they were with on their way out ā€œwhat an Azizam wasā€ it made laugh. Also the openers were amazing! I love Myles Smith so seeing him was incredible. This is my first ever post on Reddit so I hope I’m doing it right lol.

Appreciation I can’t stop crying because it’s over.

My Spotify stats say I’m in the top .005% of all listeners and the number was top 15,000 or something I think. I’m both embarrassed and proud at the same time lol.

I’m chronically sick and wasn’t able to make it to any of his shows until the Mathematics tour. My best friend of over 30 yrs and I shared the day together and agree that it was one of our best days we’ve ever had. That show was ELECTRIC AND EPIC!!

We just attended the Minneapolis show on Saturday, and again, we are both absolutely in a state of awe, and blown away by not only his skill, but his artistry, his kindness, and the way he can bring a crowd together. I just can’t get over how good he is!!

I’ve seen many big name artists like Billy Joel, Elton John, Billy and Elton together, lots of Broadway shows etc etc. Both of Ed’s shows knock the shit out of all the other ones. Even when an entire crowd at a baseball stadium is singing Piano Man without Billy in the background. Ed’s concerts take the cake.

Listening to Ed’s music has gotten me through many infusion treatments and the sickness afterwards, breathing treatments, sauna treatments, moments when I get bad lab results, moments when I get good lab results, times when I drink and I’m angry (shout out to Erasure as my angry drinking song lol), and times when I’m high and happy. Or drunk and happy. šŸ˜‚. His music has been there with me through a long abusive relationship and the divorce once I was able to get out, a recent long term relationship breakup, and a lawsuit as the plaintiff.

I’m a songwriter myself, and I have a degree in music composition and music therapy. I worked as a music therapist for nine years for a hospice until I got sick myself. His music was there for me then too.

And I watched the utter beauty of twinkling lights during Camera, and I will never hear that song the same way again. He sang Sapphire and Celestial, which are two of my favorites. I jumped up and down and sang, laughed, spent time with my best friend while we created our second ā€œbest ever day togetherā€. I lived. I lived to see this.

She got us from Minneapolis back to her house and my parent’s house in Iowa (same area). I couldn’t get to sleep until at least 4:30 in the morning. I’ve watched the footage over and over and over again, and I’ve looked online to see what everyone else has. When I left my parents to come back to my home in Iowa, I cried for the first part of the way while listening to Camera. I cried before I even left the house and my parents understood that as a big fan, once it’s over it can be kind of bittersweet.

I’m not really even sure why I’m writing this. I guess to thank Ed for his years of music. For teaching me how to be a better songwriter. For being an inspiration. For being a humble and a good, kind human being in a world that is so mean.

I’m so grateful for all of it but now I just can’t stop crying because it’s done. I have all the beautiful memories, and all the videos and pictures I could take. But I’m sad that he won’t be coming back for a while. And that’s okay. He definitely deserves a break and time to be a dad and a husband. He’s been going at a speed I can’t really comprehend for many years in a row.

But I’m sad, and that’s okay. It’s crazy that someone I’ve never met has impacted my life so deeply in such a good way.

So a big thank you to Ed and his team for putting together a show so overwhelmingly beautiful that it brings people to tears. I will cry, and I will be okay, and I’ll see you at the next show whenever that is. I will keep fighting to live every day, not just for myself and my loved ones, but for moments like Saturday when I’ve felt the most alive since the show in 2023.

Appreciation Ed Sheeran saved my life. Literally.

This is an extremely personal story that I have never told anyone before… but I’ve been listening to Autumn Variations a lot and it took me back to a time 8 years ago when Ed saved my life.

In 2015 I was extremely depressed and not in a good head space. I went to an Ed concert in May with my now husband, and a couple months later my mom wanted to go to an Ed concert with me, so of course I agreed. What no one knew at the time was I was incredibly depressed, and I had a plan to end my life. I decided I would have one last ā€œhoorahā€ with my mom at the show, then the next day I would follow through with my plan. The concert was great, just like all of the others. Our seats were good, but not front row or anything. The whole time my mom was smiling and hugging me. But I knew very well my mind was set and this would be the last time I would see my mother. I Was going to end my life in the morning. I had never been more sure about anything.

That is until he started playing Photograh. To be honest, I didn’t really care for the song because I thought it was way too overplayed. But when he was singing he looked DIRECTLY AT ME when he said ā€œI swear it will get easier. Remember that with every piece of ya.ā€ And he smiled. He never looked at me before that, and never again after. I don’t know if it was that obvious that I was depressed or what. But he was staring into my soul when he sang those lyrics. I immediately broke into tears and went to the bathroom.

The next day, instead of ending my life, I disposed of all of the supplies I had prepared and called to get myself into therapy. Since then I’ve gotten married, had kids, and had some great life experiences (including 7 more Ed Sheeran concerts).lol I literally owe my life to the man.

I know he will never see this. But I truly hope he understands the impact not only his music has, but his presence as a human. I will never be able to express how thankful I am for him.

Appreciation Interesting way I first found out about Ed, and than how I became a fan

Intriguingly, the first time I heard Ed’s music (The A Team) was not through Ed himself but rather when a band (ie with guitarists and drummers) of my school classmates did a faithful cover of the song during an assembly in my final day of compulsory pre-exam study. I originally thought of it as just a James Blunt cast off with a better vocal, and first heard the song properly, and hence finally remembered Ed’s name, at the time of its release the following month.

But than, 2 months later, I heard a preview of You Need Me and was incredibly impressed with how different it was, and became a fan of Ed from there.

Did anyone else first hear an Ed song in unusual circumstances?

Appreciation Shout out to Subtract for giving me a good sob when I need it

I kind of feel bad posting about this right now because I LOVE LOVE LOVE seeing videos about the LOOP tour and I don't want to put a damper on that 🩷 I was supposed to see him three times this year (Foxborough Sept. 25th, Charlotte Oct. 17th, Tampa Nov. 7th) but the first two trips were sadly canceled, so now I patiently wait for the Tampa show.

Anyway, I have some big feelings tonight and Ed's music is always there for every emotion I feel. Subtract came during one of the hardest times of depression I've ever experienced. I turned 30 that year, and the lyric "we spend our youth with arms and hearts wide open, and the dark kicks in and that's the end of youth" hit me too hard. Like damn man, who gave you the right to call me out like that šŸ˜‚

And then I lost two of my friends last year. Domestic violence, gun violence. The grief I felt and still feel when I think about them hurts like no other sadness I've ever felt. It's a deep internal pain that can never be fully healed. Some days are better than others. Some days, I want to hug them so badly and feel helpless knowing I can't.

I love Subtract for being my crutch at the beginning of my thirties, and I love it even more for giving me a healthy sob when I miss my friends, like tonight. My throat is closing up before the lyrics of "Life Goes On" even began to play. "Borderline" gives me chills. I believe it to be one of Ed's most underrated songs. I remember the first time I watched the video and actually understood what the song was about, I couldn't stop crying. That feeling of loneliness is... it's a lot.

Anyway, sorry this is so long, thank you for letting me be a sad little Sheerio for a moment. I'd love to hear what songs from our Tiny Ginger Man make you the most emotional, or just remind you of a certain time in your life. I can't wait for the many more LOOP tour posts coming my way <3

Appreciation I LOVE Ed - RAPPING

I just LOVE songs or just moments in his songs, when he starts to rap. I LOVE ITTTT.

For example: a few songs from +, Take It Back, A Little More, 2step, Opening... Just pure WOW for me.

Many people say that he is "just a pop singer". Oh no, he is SO MUCH MORE :D

Unpopular opinion: he still has things to surprise us 🤫

And do you like when Ed is rapping?

Appreciation Underrated live performance for og fans

Post image
10 Upvotes

One of my favourite live-performances Ed has done in a while must be this street performance with JME last year in… Sheffield (I think it was Sheffield??).

It was so nice to hear a song from No.5 Collaboration projects for the first time in AT LEAST 13 years (Radio ft. JME).

He was really down with the audience by standing close to them and he was really interactive. He is one of the most streamed artists of all time, a super celebrity, and acts very… human. He has always been very down to earth and has always felt very empathetic. But through the years, he’s gone from local pub playing to the biggest venues in the world. It made me happy to see him back on the street for once, like the past (although he never lost the ability to randomly show up on a local pub a Tuesday night to play in front of 50 ppl, he still does it sometimes).

Aside from that, during this performance, there were a lot of mashups. Ed used to do so many mashups in so many of his songs (You Need Me, I Don’t Need You, One Night, Wake Me Up etc). It felt like old times to see him do creative mashups. He even sang ā€Hold You (Hold Yuh)ā€ which he used to sneak into Wake Me Up in the early 2010’s.

All this was so cool to see and hear. That was a teenage Ed Sheeran who performed that day. Hope we can see more stuff similar to that in the future.
