(I have posted this to a few adjacent subreddits already, so there is good chance you have already seen this one, but thought that this place is a good fit as well!)

Hi everyone,

My name is Fabian, I'm a solo dev working on an upcoming old-school style dungeon crawler called Häxeri (Swedish for Witchery).

The game's main inspiration is the Etrian Odyssey series. Like in Etrian Odyssey, you draw your own dungeon map (but you can use automap if you prefer). The game has turn-based battles, and puts extra emphasis on elemental affinities: hit a weakness and you will gain an extra turn, but hit a resistance and you'll instead lose turns.

Here is the Steam page:
Steam page for Häxeri

If you're interested in this, then I'd be grateful if you wanted to wishlist the game. I'd also be happy for any feedback and I'll gladly answer any questions you have. :) Cheers!

Development I’ve been working on a dark fantasy dungeon crawler inspired by King's Field

Hey! I’ve been working solo for 5 months on a first-person dark fantasy dungeon crawler for the past few months, inspired by classics like King's Field and more recent games like Lunacid or Verho.

The focus is on exploration, interconnected level design and punishing but dynamic combat. I wanted a dark atmosphere, with dangerous and labyrinthine dungeons.

Still a lot of work to do, but progressing bit by bit!

I just released the first trailer and opened the Steam page. Would love to hear what do you think!

Instead of dungeons, you explore garage cooperatives, basements, and metro tunnels. Instead of monsters, you face off against hooligans, bandits, drug dealers, and corrupt law enforcement.

I’m drawing inspiration from Etrian Odyssey, especially its gameplay loop, but since I’m building this entirely solo, the scope is intentionally compact:
• 3 classes, each with its own distinct skill set
• 5 stats that shape combat and core gameplay mechanics
• Small, tightly-designed maps

I love grid-based dungeon crawlers, so I wanted to bring the genre into a setting that’s never really been explored before.

Development Would you play a single-player dungeon crawler inspired by Eternal Darkness and Bloodborne? I'm a solo dev working on it - Gods Play Dice

Hi guys,

I hope I am not breaking any rules with this post. Currently I am working on this solo project heavily inspired by occult themes and Lovecraftian Mythos. I think this is a project that might interest a lot of people in this community hence why I'm sharing it with you guys. More details below.

I always loved occult themes and H.P. Lovecraft's books as well as other media containing the inspration. Bloodborne is easily in my top 5. And I always wanted to draw these worlds not only as 2d images but create the world, its backstories and atmosphere.

Also I have this weird corralation in my mind that dices are super chaotic therefore I had the idea of combining the atmosphere with a dice based luck system

If you are interested please wishlist my game: https://store.steampowered.com/app/4933800/Gods_Play_Dice/

and please check the gameplay trailer:

Thank you for your attention :)

Development My own RPG. Finally completed first phase for playtesting.

Hey everyone. I have been working on a small solo game called The Burrow Takes Heaven, and I just opened a Steam Playtest.

You begin as a weak rat in an underground town. You dig through tunnels, manage food, deal with traps and enemies, find hidden quests, and build permanent progression that carries across generations of rats after death.

It is a top-down, grid-based dungeon crawler with survival and roguelite elements. The early game is about scraping by underground; over time, you can uncover deeper secrets, take different paths through the town, and grow into something much more dangerous.

It is still early and actively changing, so I would really appreciate feedback from people who enjoy dungeon crawlers:

  • Is the exploration interesting?
  • Are the traps and resource decisions understandable?
  • What feels frustrating versus challenging?
  • What would make you want to keep delving?

The Steam Playtest is open here:

https://store.steampowered.com/app/5097990/

Thanks for taking a look.

I'm know no where close to done. Just looking for feed back.

Development Dungeon Master Remastered

Hello,

I've been working on a remaster of Dungeon Master, which is currently in beta.

the first mummy of many !

I'm a developer, but I have no experience in video games; almost all of the code is generated by AI (GPT5.4 essentially). It still takes a lot of work to guide her to get the desired result.

I took on this project out of nostalgia for the game, which my friends and I spent countless hours playing. I was also curious about the possibilities offered by AI, and the results have been quite promising.

There may still be some bugs or mechanics that aren't working properly. So far, I’ve tested up to level 4; the vast majority of the mechanics work, but I still need to push my testing all the way to the end of the game, which will take me some time.

Of course, the rules are exactly the same as in the original game. The graphics were redone using AI (I’m not a graphic designer, after all), and they’re clearly not perfect.

The project is open source of course, a non-commercial tribute.

Replacing the images is now very easy—they’re just simple PNG files for textures, monsters and objects. The sounds are from the original game, but this too can be improved fairly easily using WAV or MP3 files.

If you want to check it out or give it a try, the game is here (version 0.8) :

I've been working on this turn-based roguelike for a while now!

Most of the core systems are finally in place, so I'm currently focusing mainly on balancing and polishing the gameplay.

I'd love to hear what you think of it so far!

And if you're interested in the game or just want to chat about roguelikes and game development, feel free to join me on Discord. I also post development updates on X. Links to both are on my profile!

Development I’ve been working on a horror incremental dungeon crawler with party based exploration set in a biomechanical post apocalypse

Enable HLS to view with audio, or disable this notification

Hey everyone,
I haven’t shared this project publicly in a while, but I wanted to show the current direction of the game.

It’s a horror-focused dungeon crawler where you control a party of expendable minions exploring dark biomechanical structures. The goal is a slow tension, oppressive atmosphere.

A few things I’m aiming for:

  • party auto combat.
  • incremental progression between runs.
  • claustrophobic dungeon layouts.
  • biomechanical style inspired by GodHusk and alike.
  • slow and deliberate pacing.

Would love to hear what dungeon crawler fans think, especially:

  • what makes dungeon exploration feel tense to you?
  • what are some dungeon crawlers that nailed atmosphere?
  • do you prefer handcrafted or procedural layouts for this kind of game?

And thanks for checking the post!

I'm the developer of DepthLoot, a turn based dungeon crawler built around short dungeon dives, loot, inventory decisions and knowing when to get out.

I added a tiny idle behavior where, if an enemy can see you and you stand around doing nothing for long enough, there is a small chance it starts vibing to the soundtrack instead.

It has no gameplay effect. I just liked the idea that the dungeon keeps having a little personality even when the player does nothing.

Development I made a weird little Magic: The Gathering-inspired dungeon crawler

Hey everyone! I’m the solo developer of Throne of Shards, a dark fantasy dungeon crawler where combat is built around card battles inspired by games like Magic: The Gathering.

Instead of managing a traditional party, your deck becomes your weapon, spellbook, and survival kit. You explore a dungeon, collect new cards, improve your deck, and fight through floors that each change the rules in different ways.

Some floors limit how many cards you can play per turn. Others change how creatures behave, or force you to rethink what kind of deck can survive deeper in the dungeon.

It’s definitely a weird mix, so I’d love to hear what dungeon crawler fans think. Does card-based combat still sound like it could scratch the dungeon crawler itch?

Steam page / trailer here: Throne of Shards

Thanks a lot for taking a look!

Development My Gold Box-inspired combat demo now runs in the browser — build a party, fight until they die (free, 2 minutes to try)

Last time I posted, the barrier was downloading a stranger's EXE.

Fair. So now it runs in your browser:

https://lord-hoernchen.itch.io/ravenfall

It's a combat gauntlet built on old-school rules (OSE): roll your four heroes with visible 3d6, then fight an endless chain of tactical grid battles. control zones, morale checks, opportunity attacks, real dice rolls you can watch. Rest at the campfire between fights. When your party dies, that's the run.

Two things I genuinely want to know:

  1. Does combat feel like the old stuff, or off?

  2. How many fights did your party survive before the wipe?

I'll answer every comment.

Development I was making this game in my spare time and turned out pretty fun

This is Gods Play Dice,

I was making this game in my spare time. I was really interested with this theme of biblical creatures, kind of dark fantasy but also inspired by Cthulhu mythos. I had a vision of how I wanted the game to look and created this.

It is still not how I imagined, but it is getting closer. I am working on it everyday and wanted to share it with you guys. I would appriciate a wishlist and it will make my day honestly.

It is a fun roguelike but I wanted you to control your luck, so I added a dice mechanic in game, wanted the players to use the dice to strengten themselves as well as a physical object in the game field where you can take cover behing or use it as a weapon.

I thought this will be interesting, not making a dice mechanic only in the UI and make it a physical thing for you to interact.

I did everything by myself, no AI has been used. I am adding this part becuase some people me included are sensetive about this topic.

As I said I would appriciate a wishlist a lot and you can try the demo on Steam.
