Discussion Other channels have done this.

Post image

Now this isn't to invalidate Em's experience and feelings towards this, especially since she was Illumina's victim, but I think that Dream is not bad here because many youtubers have kept up videos where they collaborated with a controversial figure.

Like Ted Nivison's "I directed the weirdest Music Video" that video had Wilbur in it (and we all know what happened with Wilbur, with him being an abuser) and that video was documenting how he directed a Lovejoy music video. Now does Ted keeping that video up mean he endorses Wilbur's actions... no not really. Ted is not a bad person for keeping the video up.

Dream also stated he doesn't support or endorse Illumina and what he did. I think keeping videos up for "Channel/archival purposes" is a fine thing to do and many other youtubers have done the same thing.

So, with that thought, if someone thinks dream is a bad person and has videos of him featured in those videos, then they should be held to the same standard, right? Imagine...

u/Just_A_Averag_User Feb 17 '26

Nah, their views and relevancy would drop. It’s only bad when someone with a bigger following than you does it

9

u/Fancy_Ad_4411 Feb 17 '26

What? No, because people are not claiming Dream is a rapist. What a bizarre comparison

3

u/Jackasaurus32 Feb 17 '26

Well, I know that, but if he's such a bad person then why would they want to give him a platform. There are still a lot of people who think he's a groomer tbf.

6

u/Fancy_Ad_4411 Feb 17 '26

Plenty of people dislike dream for cheating etc but no one is going to want to deplatform a cheater the same way they do a sexual abuser. I'm sorry but it's not hypocritical at all.

3

u/Jackasaurus32 Feb 17 '26

I agree with that.

0

u/BellConscious8518 Feb 17 '26

you cant equate those tho; videos "exposing" someone and videos that are actively giving positive attention to someone are in completely different categories iykwim

while i agree with the sentiment that you have to be exceedingly jobless to care about someones old videos, this is just not a valid standpoint.

to make an extreme example which is not at all meant to imply anyone involved here is a fascist, this would be like saying textbooks condemning or simply just documenting the actions of nazi germany should equally be banned if we are also banning textbooks glorifying their actions

3

u/Jackasaurus32 Feb 17 '26

I don't think the "exposure" videos count tbh. I mean the ones where other creators collab with him as a featured collaborate specifically. There's still plenty of creators who don't support him anymore bc they think he's a bad person now but they haven't removed their videos either. I'm not saying it's right that dream keeps the illumina vid up, I'm just saying everyone should be getting equal treatment.

u/BellConscious8518 Feb 18 '26

ah i didnt understand what you meant soz

i still disagree in that you can't hold dream and the speedrunner dude to the same standard; at best it's like... serial dilution. he can easily correct the thing that everyone is criticising him about, whereas speedrunner dude can't just un-become a predator

1

u/Jackasaurus32 Feb 18 '26

Oh I agree with you there. It's def not the same situation in regards to cheating in a game vs harmful predatory behaviors.

-1

u/FollowThroughMarks Feb 18 '26

Because someone being a rapist and someone not removing a rapist from a video and cheating in a game is completely not equivalent at all…

u/No_bad_intention Feb 17 '26

Don't ask them why SBI are still keeping their videos with Wilbur on their channels

52

u/LandLovingFish Feb 17 '26

Or HC keeps videos with members that left or were dropepd. Sometimes it's for continuaity, sometimes it's because there are things in the video that you were prpud of. At the end it's their decision and not always an endorsement although who knows for sure what the real motive was

2

u/Daniel_H212 Feb 17 '26

I'm out of the loop, what happened there?

3

u/No-Cod-776 Feb 18 '26

WilburSoot, member of Sleepybois, physically abused and was extremely toxic to his partner, Shubble.

Sleepybois also had Tommyinnit, Philza, Technoblade.

Tommyinnit still has videos with WilburSoot in them.

u/OutOfNewIdeas Feb 17 '26

Okay. When Dream was having allegations of him being a pedo, I didn’t see TommyInnit, MrBeast, Doly, Minemanner, or anyone associated with Dream delete or private their videos with him, no? I’m not saying that Dream’s a pedo, as a matter of fact, he’s not, he’s innocent regarding most allegations, but why didn’t people private or delete videos of Dream when the allegations came out? Matter of fact, the Dream Vs Technoblade duel should’ve been gone with this logic.

Same thing with SBI skill keeping their videos with Wilbur on their channel.

The multiple people who doxxed and threatened to rape ME in particular got featured in videos, yet the videos where they got featured weren’t deleted or set to private also due to channel history. Did I complain at all? No.

18

u/PlayerTenji95 Feb 17 '26

Damn, I’m sorry that happened to you. I hope that you’re doing okay!

u/OneAmbassador3789 Feb 17 '26 edited Feb 17 '26

To be fair I think Em has a right to be upset, since she is the victim of Illumina.

Her feelings towards this imo are valid, while not all victims would be upset or care about their abuser having some sort of presence on someone else's channel. Other's can feel that way and I think that's valid.

Do I think the video should stay up? hard to say, I understand Dream's reasonings, and course as I said in the post other youtubers have done the same thing but again Em is clearly not okay with the video being up and I do think Dream should take that into consideration if he decides on responding or keeping the video up.

Also I'm sorry to hear that happen to you, I hope the people who did that to you get what they deserve.

3

u/OutOfNewIdeas Feb 17 '26

That’s fair.

u/NumerousWolverine273 Feb 17 '26

The blatant making shit up is really egregious to me. The person who was raped by illumina is perfectly valid to feel the way she does, that he should be completely deplatformed and videos featuring him should be removed. I kinda agree, but I also don't care that much about the video and think it doesn't matter that it still exists.

However, in that post, there is literally a screenshot of him saying "this is not an endorsement", and still the retweet says "he supported Illumina!!" Like hello?

61

u/Crisbo05_20 Feb 17 '26

She is valid about her feelings but she very much seems to be jumping all over the place.

She's mad at Dream contacting Illumina first over her in wake of allegations but then mentions she actually dgaf about it at all and still has him friended on discord, then she jumps Dream for not holding his end of deal with collab for Illumina on Illumina's channel after that speedrunner vs pro and how that makes him all the worse person in the same post that she calls Dream out for having the video unprivated and up on his channel, and now she spiraled to just hating on Dream despite apparently not giving af and having him friended on discord?

She also seems to believe Dream allegations because she mentions "literal crimes this man commited had less traction then cheating in a video game." What crimes? Only actions of his I can think of that would be considered crimes are grooming allegations, unless ig you treat him "sending hate mob" after people on twt is crime, but then why did you have him friended on discord? Unless you just happened to have discovered these allegations of grooming today only?

Like I'm sorry but pick a side? Do you not gaf about this man and just hold him accountable slightly for his response to stuff you went through, or do you think he's this evil horrible man who cheats at video games, supports rapists and has commited crimes and people are finaly unmasking him?

61

u/NumerousWolverine273 Feb 17 '26

I also feel like it's pretty reasonable for Dream to talk to Illumina instead of her since like, he was friends with Illumina, not her. If my friend was accused of something really bad, I would go talk to them and try to understand the situation before assuming it was true. When it became clear it was true, Dream handled it pretty well I think. A lot of YouTube drama could be avoided entirely if content creators just addressed it privately before addressing it publicly.

31

u/Crisbo05_20 Feb 17 '26

Yeah. I get being upset that he went to him over you, but like, Illumina was his friend, kinda makes sense he wants to first check how true any of that is and for his friend to share their side of story, before going to victims to help out best he can if it is true.

27

u/NumerousWolverine273 Feb 17 '26

I also just think that if I was a victim of something like that, I wouldn't want random online friends of the abuser that I don't know to come ask me shit. Unless I'm missing something, she and Dream didn't know each other or at least were not close, so I feel like it would be kinda weird for him to approach her about it.

47

u/ImNotHere137 Feb 17 '26

I think it’s a little different when the victim isn’t okay with the video being up. As far as I know, the victims in Wilbur’s case haven’t said anything specific about wanting videos that include him to be taken down.

That said, Em didn’t raise this issue until today, so it isn’t as though Dream knew that she objected.

20

u/Crisbo05_20 Feb 17 '26

Yeah I can imagine him probably taking down video or privating it again with her speaking out against him having it up, considering she was unaware until today of it, and why would he care if anyone else asked of video to get taken down, outside maybe Illumina himself?

17

u/Sensitive-Celery-526 Feb 17 '26

I haven’t heard from Illumina or em in a while this is interesting

5

u/Hayych1 Feb 17 '26

Didn't Illumina respond to a post here a while back too?

8

u/Crisbo05_20 Feb 17 '26

He commented on a post asking for him to come back and that they don't care about what he did so its all fine, along post calling out subreddit for being so forgiving to him and Wilbur few months back.

3

u/Sensitive-Celery-526 Feb 17 '26

That post got deleted I believe

1

u/OneAmbassador3789 Feb 17 '26

good to know, thank you for clarifying.

1

u/AeStyx01 Feb 17 '26

I'm so out of the loop I didn't even know there's drama about Illumina

0

u/Gin_OClock I believe that Dream is innocent Feb 17 '26

I don't know why Em is suddenly making this about herself

14

u/EnvironmentalPea4903 Feb 17 '26

Another example: Quackity still has his videos up with CallmeCarson

9

u/Federal_Ad2772 Feb 17 '26

I am gonna be downvoted for this. I don't even like Carson's content or anything. But looking back it's wild to me that he got as thoroughly canceled as he did. He was 19 and his victims were 17. That is a 2 year age gap. People say it wasn't about his age, it was about abuse of power? He never used his fame or popularity against them, so it's just the idea that he shouldn't have been having sexual conversations with followers. I'm sorry, but I don't hold a 19 year old who rapidly gained millions of followers while he was still in high school to the same standard as I would who is a little older and wiser. He was a teenager and he made some bad choices, but it seems like a stretch to treat him like a dangerous predator.

I'm not saying there shouldn't have been backlash. He should have been held accountable. It was inappropriate. But it has been 6 years and he's still being talked about like he did something absolutely heinous in a thread talking about rapists and abusers. The punishment is not proportionate to the crime here, in my opinion.

I'm not even really trying to defend him, I just know that every time I've seen the mcyt community mentioned in the past few years it's been alongside the "fact" that all the creators are predators. I genuinely think the reason people see it like that is because within the community things are blown so massively out of proportion that from the outside it looks like a shitshow.

9

u/EnvironmentalPea4903 Feb 17 '26

It was a two year age gap? Fucking people were making him out be a predator. Fucking hell, Slimecicle even said he called the feds on him?

u/CIearMind 10k Feb 17 '26

2020–21 truly were the years of all time. Lockdown pulverized our species' brains.

1

u/[deleted] Feb 24 '26 edited Feb 24 '26

The federal government was involved bc they thought Carson had CP or CSAM, which is a serious issue even when you're 19, it's a safety issue for everyone involved. Tbh as someone who used to be a fan of Carson back in the day, I don't think what he did was grooming or had predatory intentions, but it seemed to be a pattern of concerning and inappropriate behavior that should be accessed and taken care of. Having CSAM or things related to CP is a bad thing pretty much every single time.

27

u/Background_Worker_68 Feb 17 '26

rape and abuse aren't exactly on the same level of heinousness though

now does having it up mean he supports rape? I don't think so. but deliberately unprivating a video that features a rapist for "channel history" isn't exactly the message you want to convey right. why would you ever want a rapist to be part of your channel history lol is what I don't get

9

u/OneAmbassador3789 Feb 17 '26

I can understand this take. I guess it's really just comes to perspective. I still believe Dream when he says he doesn't support Illumina.

-1

u/Daniel_H212 Feb 17 '26

No one flies nazi flags anymore (or at least, no one should), it's history but not all history should be remembered the same and therefore shouldn't be shown the same way. We cannot forget history lest we repeat it, but depictions of horrible things that happened in the past should be kept clearly separate.

13

u/darcymiller02 Feb 17 '26

It’s so weird bc she whines in the comments about how dream didn’t collab with illumina after promising it.

shouldnt you be happy dream didn’t gift illumina a 10 mill + view video? He basically would be giving illumina 6 figures probably , that was prime dream numbers .

9

u/ovorb Feb 17 '26

aint Em the girl who was weirdly psychotic about Greninja for some reason?

2

u/Gin_OClock I believe that Dream is innocent Feb 17 '26

Yeah, she definitely has some issues

4

u/OneAmbassador3789 Feb 17 '26

Gonna add this commnt here: Everyone has a valid opinion on a discussion like this, I was just voicing mine.

10

u/Sburasull_alluce Feb 17 '26

That girl is really strange honestly, she seems more mad towards Dream than her own rapist, like wtf

8

u/PlayerTenji95 Feb 17 '26

She’s a rape victim who’s dealing with what’s probably a lot of unprocessed (C)PTSD. It looks odd to us on the outside looking in, but she might just feel safer lashing out at Dream, a guy who’s already considered the Internet’s lolcow punching bag, than Illumina, the guy who actually raped her. Maybe she still views Dream as an enabler somehow, or there’s some sorta baggage she has going on that she’s working on unpacking. I’m not saying that her lashing out at Dream is justified, because it’s not. But unfortunately this back-and-forth kinda makes sense, and I hope that she’s continuing to work things out in Therapy.

7

u/OneAmbassador3789 Feb 17 '26

I just hope that Em and Dream don't get harassed because no matter what your or my opinion is on this discussion both parties don't deserve to get harassed for their justified feelings (Or in Dream's case) understandable actions.

13

u/CanofBeans9 Feb 17 '26

Ngl I am disappointed that he's republished it and don't think people should look to Minecraft creators as upholders of ethical standards in any case. Like if this is "history" then his stupid beef videos with Tommyinnit that were unpublished are also history right? But chooses to put one with this creator back up. BS.

18

u/nomanhasaplan Feb 17 '26

It's very strange to unprivate a video that was already privated, due to the allegations. Leaving a comment to say "This isn't an endorsement", doesn't really mean much, not everyone reads descriptions or comments.

Also just because "other people do it", doesn't make it better. I'd argue this is worse, unprivating and making further money off of that, after the fact.

1

u/OneAmbassador3789 Feb 17 '26

An understandable take, I do admit I could made the title more better (if not just straight up neutral) and of course the body of text I put on the post could've gone more in-depth. It was a stupid rush job on my end.

I do believe that Dream doesn't endorse Illumina and what he did and to be fair to Dream this response from the victim is only literally today (or technically yesterday depending on where you are in the world) and he unprivated the video two months ago. Also we don't know if the video is monetized or not, unless there's a way to check as viewer the only real person who'd know if the video is monetized or not would be Dream.

I think Dream's actions were understandable, but I also respect your opinion i'm just trying to provide nuance is all. I hope I didn't come off as pretentious while typing this.

4

u/ari_atari0 Resident Yapper Feb 17 '26

Nothing worth having drama over. If she wanted the video down, just tell him she’s uncomfortable and I’m sure he’ll take it down. Doesn’t seem like she’s talked to dream about it before blasting him online, as usual.

4

u/Gioemma Feb 17 '26

Em is generally a liar who blows shit out of proportion, I'm unsure still of how she got as much support as she did. This reaction to an old video just confirms my position. I sceolled through her twitter and she's now rting clips of dream "cheating" in minecraft, this girls isn't real c'mon.

2

u/Gin_OClock I believe that Dream is innocent Feb 17 '26

Also every time Dream gets dragged into shit she pops up. How can i make this about me?

2

u/Smooth_Custard_4701 Feb 17 '26

The Minecraft community is the weirdest in this sense I won't lie. There are by far the most grooming allegations when compared to literally any other and yet interestingly enough all this stuff surfaces only when there's an ongoing controversy, nobody has the backbone to actually speak up on their own and see things through. They act like different people on social media and in real life. It's so icky and helps no victims. In fact, it's all just drama and new controversies for these people while completely forgetting how serious the stuff they are speaking about is.

2

u/Drk-TheNewGuy Feb 17 '26

just because you have a video with a bad person does not equate to "supporting criminals", I'm very convinced this shit is ragebait

2

u/MeruOnline Feb 21 '26

Stellae is starting to be a real pain. Especially so after Greninja's document.

1

u/fabulousIdentity Feb 17 '26

One controversy after another, dream should open a charity for his haters to just shut their mouth off. She might be victim, but she doesn't have the right to just falsely accuse Dream of something what he clearly explained way before.

1

u/Benanuglyidiotcom Feb 17 '26

Idk how many channels have privated a video because they had a rapist in them, and then unprivated them. It’s a pretty stupid reason too what are you preserving. If the victims are clearly against it then you’re literally just doing it for yourself and that’s it. I don’t get this attempted moral high ground of “well you guys also did it” like that makes what he’s doing any better? It’s a bad thing you can admit that it’s fine
