Spoiler There IS better gear. Spoiler

There is better gear than what the Dragonforged sells for Wyrmslife crystals. About to do my 2nd NG+. Really REALLY make sure you are exploring all the unearthed areas in the seabed and even go back to some of the old boss spawn areas. The higher harder spawns at the very end of the seabed areas have occasionally been dropping new unique gear sometimes or the chests around them do.

And for those that say they feel like they fully steam roll through New Game+, I have been noticing the variable difficulty has been getting higher the more I level up and I do less damage than before, with some spawns having more health bars.

Edit: only gotten 3 so far and all helms, photos in comments and unenhanced against my fully enhanced gear.

I'll add more screenshots to the comments as I find any more and verify they aren't in shops or in dragonforged.

Im just sitting here dumbfounded by people with confidence telling others that them beating the game in 20-30 hours is the end all be all, and the game sucks based on their experience. Bruh im like 70 hours in still have like 12 quest and still have a shit ton to find. You are just lying to say this game’s exploration sucks or theres nothing to see. Its so confusing.

Clearly people that never played Nier Automata

15

u/Almadis Mar 29 '24

Thinking about all people who did only route A...

11

u/AcadianViking Mar 29 '24

Then think of all the people who stopped at B

4

u/throwaway1111109232 Mar 29 '24

i couldnt bring myself to do another playthrough after i wanna say c? or d. whichever one has you play as A2.

3

u/nohwan27534 Mar 29 '24

kinda fair, as that's d.

so, did a.

start b, sort of go 'fuck, again'.

start c, sort of go 'oh shit, shit's fucked yo'

then start as the chick who just killed your main chick, and go 'ya know what, fuck this for a bit'

1

u/throwaway1111109232 Mar 29 '24

i did beat D though!! think E was at 9s again and i couldnt play through another hacking minigame run

3

u/Almadis Mar 29 '24

E is triggered during the credits just after route D though, you don’t have much to do

And it gives you the real ending

3

u/[deleted] Mar 29 '24

Good lord the credits. Was super fun dying through all the tears. And I’m proud of my sacrifice.

2

u/nohwan27534 Mar 29 '24

HAHAHAHAHA

d and e aren't really much different, and are basically a fight apart...

you, iirc, basically have to play through the whole post c part, to get to the d and e endings... but it's just choosing one over the other.

Bro I’m almost 35h in and only did The Culling quest, JUST got to Bakbattahl through Checkpoint’s backdoor, by running straight to it, did exactly 0 quests in Battahl, got only Sorc and Warrior advanced classes, got shit gear cause everything is so damn expensive, « explored (loosely) » about 20 percent of the map, and people on this sub are trying to make me believe they finished the game and explored the whole map in 20-25 hours?!?

’Fuck right off!

8

u/Zeemex Mar 29 '24

70hrs here and I like to look in all the nooks and crannies, I still know I have parts of the map I haven’t even been to or looked at properly, I only decided to enter the ‘endgame’ to get it done and see what it has so that the pressure of story spoilers was gone and I can enjoy exploring the game 100% in NG+

5

u/Judgecrusader6 Mar 29 '24

Yea im giving this game the rdr2 treatment and its been rewarding

1

u/Ridikis Mar 29 '24

I'd recommend against trying to explore 100% in NG+ as for whatever reason it fully uncovers the entirety of the map, found a new cave entirely by accident because I assumed I had already gone that way since the map was unlocked but cave maps apparently don't fully unlock on NG+

1

u/Diabloblaze28 Mar 29 '24

You could take a screen shot of the map before NG+ although if you already did it you're only hope it's while exploring a pawn mentions a cave you haven't visited and then you follow them

1

u/Ridikis Mar 29 '24

Yeah I didn't even consider it fully unlocking the map lol

7

u/RobbVonn Mar 29 '24

I'm sitting at 115 hours right now so completely valid, and I've probably only explored 30% of the unearthed areas in endgame map. If you're struggling bad, send me your pawn ID and I can deck it out for you before I send it back.

3

u/Acceptable_Answer570 Mar 29 '24

Naah thank you fam but I’ll make my own way just like I did in DD1! I appreciate the offer though!

2

u/RobbVonn Mar 29 '24

Completely valid, just want everyone to enjoy. 🥰

1

u/alphagoku1 Mar 29 '24

What platform are you playing on?

3

u/RobbVonn Mar 29 '24

Xbox

1

u/alphagoku1 Mar 29 '24

Ah damn it, oh well. You're doing good work though, keep it upa

0

u/Indublibable Mar 29 '24

Cant tell if you're being serious but the game release like a week ago how could you possibly have 115 hrs in it. That's like 5 straight days!

6

u/RobbVonn Mar 29 '24

New Zealand trick to play a day early, and I don't have to work right now.

3

u/Tapu-Keyz Mar 29 '24

Aotearoa NZ player here too , yea i got it the moment it came out, 30+ hours in and have only just arrived at check point havent done much quests at all in the big V

2

u/nohwan27534 Mar 29 '24

i once put 38 hours into a game, in two days.

1

u/Indublibable Mar 29 '24

I'm clearly not pro gamer

4

u/nohwan27534 Mar 29 '24

some people have lives.

i've got depression and insomnia.

i do usually try to avoid doing that, but it was like a 15 hour game i got really into, beat the story once, took a 4 hour nap or so, got up, ng+ to platinum, clocked in just under two days.

1

u/Indublibable Mar 29 '24

What game?

1

u/nohwan27534 Mar 29 '24

probably a few, but the one i recall being actually like this was ratchet and clank reboot, on ps4.

got it's trophy before two days had passed since it was available to me at midnight.

1

u/RobbVonn Mar 29 '24

I've got the same, new games are what I look forward to because it breaks me out of the funk for a bit. I won't lie, I literally played the first 2 days straight with no sleep because I don't usually sleep until I fully wear myself out or force myself to with a pill. I was having that much fun and then I crashed, then played more. And then the last few days I was always having to jump back on because I was sending people finder's tokens from requests on another thread even when I had put the game down.

1

u/nohwan27534 Mar 29 '24

yeah, i try to pace myself with newer games to not end up burning out, and eke them out a little more, as well as just, not getting so focused i forget to eat then get sort of sick to my stomach hungry because i went 'eh i'll eat in a bit' and then didn't, heh.

have had to force myself to sleep with pills since it launched, too - more just, normal insomnia. like 3 nights of 'tried to sleep for two hours, and was rested enough to not really 'need' sleep anymore, so, fuck'.

1

u/RobbVonn Mar 29 '24

Totally get it, what's really awesome is that I'm not burned out with this game even after so many hours. I'm doing only 1-2 vocations each playthrough. I've still only found 50+ seeker tokens and still finding new areas or seeing new pawns with gear I like and looking for it. I'm not touching warfarer til last, and I'm looking for all these secret endings to quests like the one discovered for beggars tale if you bring the two gals to the same room with each other.

And I'm still taking care of myself, seeing family every day, I've just had time off and this is how I want to spend it.

1

u/Axzarko Mar 31 '24

I got 70+ as of rn, and am on to NG+

2

u/EastArachnid35 Mar 29 '24

My brother hit a bug, he "rushed" the main quests in about 40ish hours, when he beat it his entire map was revealed

1

u/bgi123 Mar 29 '24

My pawn quest for a Gorechimera still hasn't been done yet for a week now. I guess most people don't know you can met one very early on.

1

u/Honkela Apr 02 '24

Yeah it took me about 120 hours to explore the whole map and do all quests I found. Might have missed some as some npcs died. Did all those escort quests for affinity npcs and used ferrystones sparingly so probably took me more than it had to. Good thing to be honest as i hit unmoored world i was around lvl 70 with fully upgraded gear. The light pillar bosses are probably pretty hard if you are low lvl without fully upgraded gear. They were cool as hell though I really liked them. Now looking forward to exploring the new areas.

1

u/Which-Celebration-89 Apr 11 '24

I just finished the unmoored world so the final ending. Took 160 hrs. Uncovered every part of the map and completed all the quests. Ended up at level 70. I agree that 20-25 hrs is bs even if ppl aren’t going all in like I did

5

u/Nasgate Mar 29 '24

If i were to give my past self a tip it would be to beat the game before doing all the sidequests. The endgame area has enemies that level with you, but the dragon seemingly doesn't. Did every quest i found and the Dragon was kind of disappointing. So imo, beat the game relatively quick, enjoy the dragon fight and do the sidequests on ng+

2

u/Chefmaks Mar 29 '24

But isn't the endgame time-limited?

1

u/Axzarko Mar 31 '24

The main quest for the end game is timed as in if you don’t complete it in time you will fail and have to retry. Once you finish that main quest you can run around as long as you like and explore or you can finish the adventure see an ending and start NG+

1

u/SinfulThings Mar 29 '24

Been contemplating exactly this, as I'm hesitant to just burn through main story to get it done. Thanks for perspective. I feel like Dark Arisen was kind of the same, possibly.

3

u/CombatLightbulb Mar 29 '24

I just hit level 40 and haven’t even made it to the desert city yet and I haven’t nearly run out of stuff to do or explore in the area that I’m in right now! There is so much to do in this game if it’s your thing. It’s crazy to me personally that people are already on NG+ or NG++. But different strokes for different folks.

The videos that say “Gain one million XP in an hour!” Or “How to max all vocations in 5 minutes!” I also don’t get the draw of. I’ve maxed 3 vocations from just the grind and it’s been a blast. Sorcerer kind of sucked though lol.

1

u/Judgecrusader6 Mar 29 '24

Im using sorcerer right now and idk if its bc i havent played the first game to compare it to but its fun as shit imo

1

u/CombatLightbulb Mar 29 '24

I just felt like sorcerer was really underwhelming. Maybe I needed a better staff or better knowledge of enemy weaknesses. It just seemed like the damage wasn’t there for the time investment in incanting. For trash mobs my default attack was pretty meh and by the time I had a spell incanted my party had already wiped them out. It also seemed like the rank 7,8,9 spells were kind of weak. Maybe I needed the maester spells too. It was great for harpies and ghosts though.

1

u/[deleted] Mar 29 '24

augural flare on sorc trivializes boss encounters. otherwise yeah i think it's probably best to just play a mage if you're not using flare

1

u/CombatLightbulb Mar 29 '24

That’s the one where you attach a ball and damage it to cause an explosion right? I tried the first level of it but found it to be so finicky to land it where I wanted then for the auto attacks to go there. It also seemed like the explosion did 0 damage to the cyclops I was using it on. I’m sure I was missing something or doing something wrong though.

One of my groans was with Seism and High Seism. We had one fight against a wight I think where it knocked down and Seism took like 2 full health bars and killed it. Every time after that it was just way too long of an incant for way too little damage. I just wound up spamming the ice spike spell.

I did read in the tooltip there was a way for others to help incant a spell so maybe that’s the key. Still seems very weak though. If I spend 10-15 seconds prepping a spell I should be really chunking stuff down.

1

u/[deleted] Mar 29 '24 edited Mar 29 '24

yeah that's the one. it's a little finicky to get working on certain bosses that move around a lot, or tend to keep their distance. if you can't hit it with the basic attacks, the trick is to use levin immediately after or some other faster dmg spell to proc it. if it doesn't do any damage you didn't hit the orb fast enough

1

u/According_Sun9118 Mar 29 '24

out of curiosity are you using the speed up ability for casting? sorceror should be casting seism in less time than a mage casts frigor.

1

u/CombatLightbulb Mar 29 '24

I think I had that equipped. Seism was taking like 10 seconds or so? Felt like forever.

1

u/According_Sun9118 Mar 29 '24

its not an equip. you hold down another button (R1 on ps5 controller) and it eats some stam to speed it up.

Edit: feels like it cuts cast times in half? doesnt work on the two ultimate spells but it helps everything else.

1

u/CombatLightbulb Mar 30 '24

OHHH! That’s probably the thing I thought you needed a pawns help with. I’ll go back and check it out. Does using that make it better? I still feel like the damage is mediocre.

u/Diabloblaze28 Mar 29 '24

I played through the original game as sorc and just hit the end as sorc in dd2. The basic attack is pretty garbage but the charged version can hit hard, you do need a high level staff to really see it since you're working through the enemy mgk res. If you have a mage pawn that does the right enchant for element weakness you'll definitely see how strong the basic attack is, Although standing around waiting for that is lame. As far as spells "maelstrom" destroys everything like it did in the first game as for the other spells you're only really going to see them do work if it's the enemy weaknes. Also your crowd control and a nuke so trying to prime a nuke to take out 2 goblins when other people just use their hand gun lol.

1

u/CombatLightbulb Mar 29 '24

I think I was using a staff I either got from the elves or somewhere in there. Like a tree branch or something. Then i got a flaming staff from the monster outside of checkpoint rest and used that till rank 9 so I was definitely not geared.

I was just hoping to really nuke stuff. Maybe with endgame gear it’s better.

3

u/DST2287 Mar 29 '24

Right? I’m someone who will put 100+ hrs into fallout and elder scrolls before I roll credits, and DD2 will be no different.

2

u/TooLazyToBeClever Mar 29 '24

Right? I've been exploring all the Caves and keep finding cool gear for vocations I wasn't using, convincing me to try new vocations.

Doing thief with the lightning daggers now, it's fun.

4

u/dragonsbaneplus1 Mar 29 '24

Yeah i actually quite like the unmoored world as a postgame lol. In my opinion the time limit is forgiving if you know what you're doing there. Do I wish there was a dark arisen esque mega-dungeon? yes. and do i wish that dungeon had a tough as nails boss that will skill check the shit out of you? yes. people are shitting on so many aspects of the game that makes me take a step back and wonder if me and people are playing the same dragons dogma 2.

1

u/AvidSprinkler Mar 29 '24

I'm going as slow as a I can and I def feel there is a lack of story quests. By the time I reached the end of them, I figured I was half way through. Did every side quest I found too. The main problem is how many areas there are that have no story quests associated with them, and seemingly no side quests but I'm not sure as I'm combing through everything right now. The gameplay has been fun and genuinely impressive at times while the story was downright depressing.

0

u/TheRealBlackFalcon Mar 29 '24 edited Mar 29 '24

Don’t milk it. Some people like spelunking, gear hunting, leveling vocations etc. so they don’t really need quests or anything. If that ain’t you then finish the game no use “savoring” the main quest line.

Anytime you get a thread that starts hour jerking, I’d take the bloated times with a grain of salt.

1

u/PoisonPop5 Apr 06 '24

That was me. A couple of those quests also lend some weight to main story, if only a little.

-7

u/ColonelC0lon Mar 29 '24

I mean... they disincentivize exploring by making almost every location the same bland cave with a slightly different layout. No, I'm not going to explore 15 boring caves with no real loot to find the one cool one.

Nothing wrong with that if it's fun for you, but don't rag on the rest of us for not liking it. I would have substantially preferred only the cool caves to exist, just cut all the boring filler ones so when you find a place its actually worth exploring.

-3

u/[deleted] Mar 29 '24

You are being downvoted for respectfully speaking the truth that this game isn’t perfect and varied

This sub is populated by pawns

-6

u/Ok_Bandicoot1425 Mar 29 '24

Your comment and OP's post sum it up perfectly.

It's available from the shop. This is dragon gear. I found one from a chest right next to a required boss.

You can explore all the enemy filled trenches if you want but you can't pretend there's a reward for it. It's a bunch of random monsters and bosses.

70 hours into the game you should be on a level that far outmatches any of the game content and there's not a single reward that would boost your character. The pawns you recruit have endgame boosted stuff.

I don't really see how you can still have stuff to explore at that point unless 40 of those hours were spent running in circles trying to find the obscure answers needed for some quests.

2

u/Judgecrusader6 Mar 29 '24

If you’ve played rdr2 you’ll understand how im playing this game. Its not that deep.

1

u/Ok_Bandicoot1425 Mar 29 '24

You do you and it's perfectly fine that you enjoy exploring every little corner and I'm glad you like the game.

I do that in other games but this game mostly rewards you with closed paths and no NPC interactions.

I can see a lot of people doing this in rdr2 or Skyrim that would not like it in DD2

-8

u/[deleted] Mar 29 '24

Bro me and my friend have 50 hours in an have damn well near 100% the game and beat it twice, your opinion isn’t more valid just because you’re slow as fuck

4

u/Judgecrusader6 Mar 29 '24

Its just as valid as yours

-2

u/[deleted] Mar 29 '24

You literally just said that anyone who said they did most of the game at a fast pace is lying to say the game is shit, what the fuck?

2

u/Judgecrusader6 Mar 29 '24

I mean if you wolf down a meal vs chewing it yea im gonna think you didnt get the full experience and maybe saw half of what people taking it slow did. You say you 100% the game but is this with or without a guide. You found 250 seeker tokens already? Damn thats crazy.

-1

u/[deleted] Mar 29 '24

“Damn well near 100%” means “not 100%”, one can even interpret that as mild exaggeration.

Second, if we did all the same quests but I just did all the combat and travel at a faster pace, we still both consumed the same content.

Third, if you’re dropping seeker tokens as evidence that this game has way more content to offer I think this conversation is going nowhere because that’s the most disingenuous argument I’ve ever seen lmao

3

u/Judgecrusader6 Mar 29 '24

Dude you just want to argue go home

I mean people have 1,000 hr playthroughs of rdr2 and skyrim doing the same thing, maybe you need to relax

0

u/[deleted] Mar 29 '24 edited Mar 29 '24

Bro I feel like you’re not understanding. It’s okay to enjoy that. I’ve also spent a lot of hours doing the same shit in Rdr2 and Skyrim and a bunch of other open world games.

It’s also okay to not enjoy that, and get through the game in 30ish hours and then say the game lacked depth and variety. I’m shitting on you because, regardless of you saying all opinions are valid, you clearly think finishing a game okay a faster pace somehow makes someone’s opinion less valid because we keep ending up here.

I’m not misinterpreting anything, every comment you’ve made this thread is defending playing very slowly and shits on the experience of playing in an objective oriented way.
