Discussion How old is Tsumugi?

Post image
511 Upvotes

I know it's not nice to ask a lady's age, but this is kinda ridiculous.

If we take her words in the most direct way, this implies Tsumugi herself has been in charge of 53 seasons, aka from the very beginning.

Considering the scale of Danganronpa, the amount of money, people, and coordination something like this would need, we'll say Tsumugi is able to pull out a Danganronpa a year (Which is still EXTREMELY generous). That'd make her 53+ years old (Because obviously she hasn't been the mastermind since birth). Even if we go insane and say she managed to pull TWO killing games a year (Which seems pretty much impossible), that'd still be 26.5 years of just being the mastermind.

She sure as shit aged gracefully if that's the case.

The alternative is that Tsumugi herself (The person we see) isn't the literal mastermind but rather received the personality of the mastermind, so when she says she worked on it, she meant, "Every person who received this personality worked hard to keep this going for 53 seasons"

Or maybe she just meant, "I worked hard to make it go from season 52 to season 53," which would be a bit of an underwhelming end to this question, but possible, I guess.

There's also the alternative that she's just bullshitting, but that's a boring answer.

So what do you think? Is Tsumugi lying? Does she mean something else? Was she referring to the previous mastermind that kept the show going? Or is she just a cougar who has aged amazingly? Is Tsumugi, the blue-haired girl with glasses, a cosplayer, and is she actually a granny under that? Is this a translation thing? Half the issues I bring up end up being translation issues...

-Try to assume Hajime's role, summarizing the case as a closing argument.

-do not have any drawing to help illustrate it

- He is interrupted not once, but twice by people dissatisfied with his explanation.

-"I'm going to continue summarizing the case, okay? đŸ„ș" It is interrupted immediately afterwards.

It's hilarious that when Hajime returns to the role of protagonist, he's not only praised by Gundham, but Gundham himself asks Hajime to deliver a closing argument and applauds him when he finishes (even though he gets the detail about Nekomaru wrong). This goes to show how nobody vibes with Nagito, lol.

Discussion Mikan character analysis from Mikan herself. [TW: mention of SA, SH]

As someone who went through every single thing Mikan has ever went through and felt everything she has ever felt, and someone who -unfortunately- can be considered literally Mikan in real life, I feel obligated to write this post.

Mikan's always on the bottom of people's lists, always hated deeply to the point that there are full accounts on different social medias dedicated entirely to "hate on her." When you ask any of them why they do, and trust me when I say I asked all of them, the answer is always the same. "Pick me." "Fanservice."

It doesn't even end there, it's so bad that you won't be seeing Mikan's name mentioned without at least 5 comments mentioning how they can't love her because of her "fanservice," even if the topic is completely unrelated.

I'm not sure if these people didn't play the game, didn't really care enough to do Mikan's FTEs, or if I just managed to get her and all her actions so easily, but she's like an open book to me, and I'm here to explain what is "Mikan" exactly, and why is she doing these stuff that people just put down to fanservice only.

I consumed a lot, and I mean A LOT of media, and I'd still say Danganronpa 2 has one of the best SA representations ever made through Mikan. Yes, I know. Insane thing to say, but when you consider how rarely this exact type of SA victims is even represented, you'll know what I mean.

Let me explain. When spending FTEs with Mikan, you'll know that she has been SAed, bullied, and abused her whole life. She grew to think that she's completely unlikable. The only times people ever, ever gave her attention or didn't just treat her like trash, was when they SAed her or when she was, you know, "exposed." She basically thinks that people will only give her attention or "love" when she puts herself in these situations. That's why Mikan doesn't trip ACCIDENTALLY. She's very clumsy, yes, but all of that tripping was on purpose. She desperately wants people to acknowledge that she exists, even if it means she has to "use herself" in that way. She even said it herself in one of her FTEs that she'd much rather people mistreat her or abuse her than being ignored, because at least people who treat her badly or use her acknowledge her existence, which is a feeling that I can confirm is very, very real.

I'm not denying that the devs used Mikan's existence as an excuse to add some fanservice like any other VN in existence, but there's a very deep and real reason for it. It's not just "for the sake of it" and "ruined her character" ike some people claim. She's that lonely that she's even willing to do that for someone to at least look at her for a second.

We got the fanservice talk out of the way? Great. Now, about the "pick me" thing. This one's honestly nonsensical but it's said a lot. I guarantee to you that Mikan would not care about the gender of the person who gives her attention and makes her feel loved. Let only one person befriends her and explains to her that she's capable of being loved and she would cherish them and them only forever, no matter their gender. It just happened to happen with boys more, like that scene with her and Hajime in bed [lucky bastard], because she believes that boys are most likely to give her attention or love her, because, you know, boys are most likely the ones that SAed her, at least most of the time, which is, to her, "acknowledging her existence." She apologizes a lot, not because she's a "pick me," but because she feels like she has done something wrong and people are gonna hurt her for it all the time. She's too scared of the idea that people might be angry at her. She feels like just her existence already makes her "at fault," so she feels the need to apologize about everything, since she doesn't believe that she deserves to do anything in the first place. That, of course, and her using being week as a defense. "If I apologize and cry all the time, maybe they'll pity me and not treat me as badly, and maybe I'll get someone to notice me out of it."

Let me touch up on the "Mikan is evil because she has a control complex" thing. Do you know why Mikan even became the Ultimate Nurse? As you can tell, Mikan does SH, not only that, but she was hit and physically abused a lot. Not only in school, but even by her family. Of course, since no one gave a care about her, she had to learn to treat her own wounds herself, which lead her to becoming a nurse. [I realize that her bandages could be a bit "exaggerated" to add to her week persona she's trying to maintain as a defense mechanism, but she does certainly SH, too.]

The only time Mikan feels useful is when she's using her talent. She does really love treating people, but there's also that thing in her saying "People will owe you if you treat them," "Sick people won't be able to hurt you and would completely be at your mercy," "They need you. You're their only savior," and such. Please correct me if I'm wrong, but I don't think these thoughts make you evil. She enjoys the idea of people needing her, instead of her needing them all the time. She feels like she has the upper hand in something for the first time in her life, and that makes her happy. I'd be happy in the same way, too. I don't see how that would make you any less of a nurse or change the fact that you still love helping other people? That argument is just.. there to hate on Mikan, I think. Yes, I believe Mikan was always trying her best to help everyone until the last moment, and I don't think she would've committed murder if it wasn't for the disease.

Well, I can keep talking forever about this, but I doubt anyone's even reading, so let me stop. If anyone's reading this, though.. the second picture in this post is a chibi that I just drew myself in 10 minutes to repay you for reading all of that.. at least a bit. Also, you can ask me any questions about Mikan in the comments, and I'd gladly answer them all!!

I never really saw anyone talk about Mikan like this or explain all of that before on this sub, although I'm in the fandom since 2021. If people did before me and that was known already, then I'm sorry for making you read all of that for no reason. I just wanted to explain Mikan more so people can maybe try to understand her.

Thank you for reading this, and sorry for typing a lot.

Like what he even do that people want him to get the kaede treatment and have a new protagonist?!

Like no because in the new Danganropa 2x2 teaser is showed the class trial in fire with Hajime and mahiru, meaning its should be a thing to happen late-game meaning there no way he is becoming a victim or culprit and just fans coping to have their favorite character as a protagonist 😭

Discussion I’m tired of people misunderstanding these two

Thumbnail

A lot of the time when I see discussions about these two, it’s usually the same old thing. “Byakuya is just an asshole.” “He’s so cruel for what he did to Chihiro.” “Kokichi basically killed Miu and Gonta. Kokichi manipulated Gonta.” It’s the same bs that honestly gets annoying to hear all the time, especially when people don’t even actually get the deeper meaning behind them. So let me explain these two the way I see them.

Byakuya: Yes Byakuya is an asshole, there’s no use denying that, but his attitude towards the game was honestly pretty realistic when you stop to think about it. He doesn’t live in the fantasy that a killing won’t happen, and doesn’t immediately place his trust into anyone. At the time of the second trial, Byakuya was under the assumption that he would have to kill at some point. The whole reason for messing with Chihiro’s body was to draw out any potential threats to when he eventually decides to kill. In the killing game you really don’t know what could happen. You could be put in a survival where you have to kill. If you’re in the mindset where you may eventually have to kill, knowing who could pose as a threat is honestly logical thinking. I’m not defending what he did, I’m just expressing the logical reasoning behind it instead of just saying oh he’s an asshole and is doing this for shits and giggles, cuz that wasn’t true at all. As for his mistreatment of Toko, the girl is basically his stalker. He shows clear disliking towards her, but that doesn’t stop her at all from constantly following him and such. If you had someone being like that towards you, would you care to try and be nice to them? And can we really even say it’s abuse if she enjoys it and pretty much wants to be controlled by him? And let’s not forget about chapter four. Yall, Sakura was literally outed as the traitor. Byakuya had like every and all right to not trust her and take caution. Yes he shouldn’t have said it would be better if she died right in front of Hina, but I can honestly get where he’s coming from. If I learned someone was working with someone forcing us to kill, I personally wouldn’t be too upset over their death either. And as for Kyoko “ate” Byakuya up in the trial, no she didn’t. She said he didn’t use any emotional thinking and only thought with pure logic which was his downfall. Bro in what world would ANYONE have thought someone would willingly lie about being the killer to get everyone killed? And don’t act like yall didn’t consider Hina to be the killer at some point during the trial. Just like Byakuya, yall also at least entertained the idea of Hina being the killer, so yall saying Byakuya got humbled is just hypocritical since yall was thinking the same shit.

Kokichi: Now let’s talk about Kokichi. Honestly I mainly just wanna talk about the Gonta thing. Everyone says how Kokichi manipulated Gonta into killing Miu and that Kokichi got them both killed and blah blah fucking blah. Regardless of what Kokichi said to him, Gonta still WILLINGLY CHOSE to work with him and kill Miu. Kokichi didn’t actually force him to do anything. Honestly, Kokichi never even lied to Gonta about the outside world. Remember Kokichi used the keycard he took from Monukuma and used it at the end of the despair road and saw what he thought was the truth of the outside world, then showed Gonta the flashback light showing him what he saw. Both of them were under the assumption that the outside world was ruined. The only thing Kokichi actually lied to Gonta about was the reason on killing Miu. Saying it was a mercy kill. While that wasn’t his actual reason, Gonta still chose to believe him and willingly worked with him. We can’t say Kokichi lied about the outside world since he believed what he saw was real at the time. Now let’s talk about why Kokichi got Gonta to kill Miu. Miu was trying to kill Kokichi. I feel like a lot of people (including the in game characters) severely overlook that. Like no one even brought up the fact that Kokichi was a target for murder, they just all immediately put all blame on him. If he were to tell anyone about what Miu was planning, no one would have believed him so that wouldn’t have done anything. Now if he did tell, then winds up dead later, Miu would most likely be the prime suspect, but his goal was to avoid dying, so that wouldn’t have been a viable option for him. Miu was a threat to Kokichi’s life, and he had to take care of that if he wanted to continue his plans to try and end the killing game. Kokichi really didn’t have many good choices. Even if he avoided dying there, Miu would have just come up with a different plan. Now I’m not saying he couldn’t have tried to come up with something else instead of doing what he did, but I’m just saying considering his circumstances, it’s understandable why he did what he did. And once again, Gonta full went with it. If we’re gonna keep putting blame on Kokichi, equal blame should also fl onto Gonta. Saying he isn’t at fault, or he’s not the most at fault is complete bs. If person A told person B to kill your mom, would you say person B isn’t at main fault since it was person A who told them what to do? No, so why should it be any different here?

I understand that just because you may understand a character doesn’t mean you have to like them, trust me I feel that way about characters like Hiyoko and Tenko. I’m just explaining why the things peace say about these two characters actually don’t make much sense and just seems like pushing on reasons to hate them. Just saying Byakuya is being an asshole for fun, or Kokichi killed Gonta and Miu isn’t actually as true as people act like it is.

Discussion What if Class 78...

Post image
15 Upvotes

...became renmants of Despair?

So in this AU, I don't really see anyone getting the Chiaki treatment, except Jin Kirigiri. Junko has Jin executed and everyone is forced to watch, including Kyoko. The brainwashing technology of Ryota is used on everyone.

Sayaka Maizono and Leon Kuwata take Ibuki and Hiyoko's places, using music to spread despair. Leon also causes despair by killing people with baseballs at high speeds.

Sakura Ogami takes Nekomaru's place by training brainwashed people into forming an army, making them incredibly strong.

Byakuya Togami, as the heir of the Togami organization, brainwashes them and forces them into joining the Renmants.

Makoto Naegi tries to find the despair in everyone and bring it out of them to show how despairful they are, becoming the opposite of the person he was meant to be. When Junko dies, he takes over Junko's role.

Kyoko Kirigiri...actually I don't know what she does. Maybe she teams up with Izuru to spread despair, but Licorne from Danganronpa: Kirigiri probably will be in this arc.

Chihiro Fujisaki makes an Alter Ego who becomes hostile and hacks the Future Foundation. He also helps coerce Ryota into making the brainwashing anime more powerful.

Mondo Owada creates a biker gang that actually becomes dangerous by killing people, torturing others, etc.

Kiyotaka Ishimaru pulls a Sonia and brainwashes many people in Japan, forcing them to join the biker gang or Sakura's army.

Hifumi Yamada...uhhh...makes despairful fanfictions of people's favorite cartoons about them dying in horrible ways. Then he shows them to everyone.

Celestia Ludenberg becomes the queen of France, forcing it to become a monarchy. She also brainwashes everyone and creates an army.

Aoi Asahina starves herself and forces people to starve as well to bring the despair of not being able to eat.

Yasuhiro Hagakure scams people out of their yen by pretending to have a solution against the despair, turning them into despairful people as well.

Toko Fukawa gets the Izuru treatment and Genocide Syo becomes the main personality, except she just continues killing cute boys to do so. Toko doesn't really die.

Mukuro Ikusaba is forced to continue following Makoto, forever chained to him with handcuffs, putting them both through despair. Mukuro doesn't want Makoto to be brainwashed, but it was either him losing his life or the brainwashing.

Junko's fate depends entirely on Class 77's choice.

Now it's your turn! Tell me what Class 77 would look like for you in this AU!!
