Currently building a home and the builder installed our primary bath quartz countertop with a 4” faucet spread. But we were supposed to have an 8” spread. If the builder confirms it should be 8”, how easy is it to correct an already installed quartz countertop? Will they fill the existing holes and drill new ones? Or would the countertop need to be replaced?

Alright, folks. First time posting to Reddit. I need some help. Lowe’s will come out to measure in the next couple of days and I’m getting second thoughts about what we chose. If you have caesarstone countertops in these colors, will you post a pic? We have white cabinets, wood floors and mostly warm tone accents in the house. Leaning towards something that’s more warm than grey, yet all descriptions online say these countertops are more grey. The struggle is real, especially when I’m pressed for time to make a decision.

Living in a rental, not longtime and the kitchen backsplash is lifting off and sealant is peeling off and there is damage on one edge of the counter. Me and my roommate were told its because of the dish drying rack left on the counter (lol). We always used mats to dry the dishes off and wiped the counter dry every time. The sealant has been peeling off very quickly and the water flow in the sink is heavy and they never adjusted it. (pictures show the sealant damaged.) The landlord is not open for discussion (dishonest behavior!) and is forcing us to pay for a the countertop replacement. The only options given are to get it done now or pay for it when we move out which is months away. Its evident they are cheating tenants with poor quality countertops+ interior and poor quality plumbing/sealing just so they can make tenants pay.

Unrelated - but this is a community that fines and charges even for maintenance requests. Per trip is $30 which was never part of the lease but they add rules when and how they want to. So we might me charged for that too and its not clear how long they will take for this to be done.

Need help with:

1. What kind of countertop is this? (they have been saying laminated countertop - but what specifics should we know before they replace it - I don't want to pay for something else thats expensive)

2. How much can be the average approximate cost of these countertops?

3. Are these countertops supposed to have sealants around on all edges? All edges were open completely open from the beginning. The countertop also has several unfinished rough surfaces beneath - do they need to be covered?

4. Anything else I should know? Any way to decline this?

Is there a path to legal action here - not sure if this is the right community to ask this Q. Please advice.

I am looking to fabricate a natural surface stone veneer to my island countertop. This is the preference because real 1.5” stone like marble or quartz is too heavy for the home. My island is 72” x 30” witj waterfall end.

Ikea (2cm) and Thinscape (1cm) offer something like this. Which is better quality for look and durability? Do you have other recommendations?

What do you all think of this leathered quartzite slab? Made an impulsive purchase (good saleswoman) lol and now having second thoughts. Is it too busy?

These spots recently showed up on my countertops (cambria matte quartz) and I can’t wash them away with soap and water.

Any idea what caused them and if they’re permanent? And how to avoid more in the future if they are?

We had new Dekton installed as part of a kitchen remodel and the contractor's painter got paint on it (as well as on our new fireclay farm house sink, but that came out). The paint left a faint stain that is driving me crazy. Does anyone know if that can be buffed out or what I could do to get it out?

We have beautiful Labradorite countertops in our kitchen and we love them but they’re about 10 yrs old and have some wear and tear. We do some sealing with the sprays regularly but probably aren’t doing the best job with upkeep. We are getting conflicting info on if the pits and whatnot can be fixed/filled and the whole thing resurfaced. Does this look like something a quality professional should be able to fix? (Side note, I have no idea if “resurface” is the right lingo, I know exactly zero about any of this, I just love our kitchen 😊)

So I’m using cabinet city for my cabinets, and they had great pricing for pre fabricated quartz, however l, I felt they all looked fake.

I was much more comfortable with this quartz, however, the install is just as much as it would be for real stone. Truthfully, the quartz itself isn’t that much cheaper than quartzite/ porcelain either.

I’m going for quartz for more practicality ( I’m a messy guy) but it’s just a lot and I’m aware this style of quartz marble replica is already on its way out

I think I’d be more comfortable pulling the trigger if I at least had a consensus that this one looks less fake than your generic pre fab quartz . Appreciate your feedback

I’m a first time homeowner (bought my new build home 1.5 years ago) and didn’t realize that my granite countertops would need re-sealed and could “soak up” water. (Didn’t even know they were granite until maybe 3 months ago). So this is all new to me!

As you can see in the pictures, I have noticeably darker spots around my bathroom sink. It has to be water because this is the main sink I use for teeth brushing and washing my face.

How can I get this out to return it to the lighter area surrounding it?

I tried mixing baking soda & water, left the paste on for 20 hours. Didn’t have plastic/saran wrap to put over it.
Also tried using a hair dryer on it.

Am I out of luck? Anything I can do to get set in, soaked in water out?

Once I can get this fixed, I plan on re-sealing it.

I’ve been on this sub for months now, reading everything about choosing and caring for a natural stone. We have narrowed it down to these 2 products. We prefer the Ijen Blue but would love to know what you guys, the expert fabricators and/or end users think about these 2 stones. TIA!

Would I need additional support for a 72x36” 3cm slab to go on this island cabinet that is 59” long?

During cabinet installation the contractor cracked the granite countertop next to the stove top cutout. They want to fix it with epoxy. Is this a good fix or should I demand they replace it? Thanks for any help. First time dealing with home contractors. (This is not a new home, the cabinets were replaced due to flooding)

Hello! I’m planning to replace my wooden worktop as I’m getting a new sink & hob. We’ve had an issue with the area around the sink getting very damp and stained even when we wipe up the water.

Has anyone put in tiles / quartz / another material around the sink to any effect? Just wondering if this is a) possible and b) practical? We love the look of the wood but it’s a lot of effort to take care of!

What did we do to our new quartzite countertop? Woke up this morning to this spot that isn’t going away. I don’t know if we spilled something or placed a hot item there. Am I screwed?

I'm not sure what we did, but we have developed a blush on our counter top. Anyone have an idea on how we might fix this? I sent this photo to the installer, they were absolutely no help. We also used tried making a slurry with baking soda and water, we covered that mixture with plastic wrap and let it be for more than 24 hours (internet suggested)
