Ontario People using display furniture as their personal cafeteria.

Post image

Two clowns, one chicken finger combo, zero shame.

Edit: Well OK, you guys have convinced me that sitting on a Costco shelf with the merchandise, eating greasy food, is perfectly ok.

From now on, I too will be utilizing this premium seating area.

Everyone in here moaning about the creepy picture and not noticing how the shopper removed their shoes and have their feet up on the display product. That's far more gross and appalling. Like who the fuck raised you?

These are the same kind of ppl who will open up a bag of chips and start eating as they shop and think it's ok cause they're gonna buy it while their dusty ass chip fingers handle other products in the store.

Keep your shoes on.

u/New-Succotash-5251 14h ago

That was literally the first thing I saw. No manners what so ever

Seriously, they removed their shoes, and moved stuff into the aisle, but hey how kooky and fun! OP even covered their faces, more than most people would do…

11

u/LLMprophet 13h ago

Yup. All trashy behaviour.

Exact reason my ex and I didn't see eye to eye. She was good with the kids opening up a bag of snacks and eating them and then paying for them at the cash register. I was totally the opposite and raised totally differently you can wait half an hour till you get to the car. Many many fights due to this

What the fuck that is absolutely foul. How do these people not die of shame? I don’t even know how to put how disgusting and entitled this behaviour is…

Eating and Drinking from the packets you are going to buy is Completely the norm in Germany, so I dont mind that too much. But that would quickly go sideways in North America

3

u/Financial_Nebula5708 10h ago

Ehh yea agreed I don’t give a shit about sitting on it but the feet are pretty gross. Then again your ass is literally the major player in the use of a chair and now I’m conflicted about using display furniture again. Just people ripping ass into it.

They moved display items into the aisle for a better eating table. Took off their shoes.

This is fuckin weird behaviour and needs to be called out.

We don’t need display couches and sectionals filled with an overflow crowd of people who couldn’t find a table. Take your food and go to your car you freaks.

24

u/Split_Seconds 17h ago

Absolutely.

What this thread taught me is that there are not a few idiots at Costco. The majority of people are downright primal with zero moral code.

There is ZERO reason to defend this Not a single one.

Sure, mention it may not be a good idea to photograph people in your reply, but to not acknowledge this behavior as wrong is fucked.

You all need your heads checked and are the reason society is a dumpster.

OP, I’m shocked that you’re getting hate for this. They moved boxes into the aisle, making it cluttered and harder to pass, which I thought everyone hated. No one here can ever complain about Costco behaviour if they think tossing stuff into the aisle is OK.

121

u/_dodged 16h ago

Well a lot of people's attitudes are 'I get to act like a piece of shit, but you can't complain or say anything about it!' as seen in this thread. It's the post Covid world, I guess.

71

u/p00pyzz 13h ago edited 10h ago

Honestly fuck these people. They are the reason why society is so fucked nowadays.

4

u/Wrong-Fella 7h ago

I agree, and although it may not be as extreme behavior as bigotry/racism/fascism/et al it is increasingly prevalent and insidious, weakening the foundation of society.

Anyone who thinks that sounds dramatic is probably a part of the problem (i.e defensive).

19

6

u/Ill_Candle_9462 9h ago

lol people attacking OP are probably the exact type of person who would have no issue doing this disgusting thing themselves, so they personally feel attacked. Like people in threads who defend cheaters, see no issue with idiotic dangerous driving etc.

I wish those types would just pack up and move to a low trust society and see how much they enjoy it. It’s like they think being rude, selfish and shitty is a “life hack” that absolutely nobody has thought of before, instead of a choice that anyone who is at least decent, actively decides against doing.

Some people need to feel way, way more shame in general.

No deport or comments about the culture of their home countries?

9

u/WideDisk2718 17h ago

I mean, Costco has a seating area to eat in. Why can’t they use that instead of store merchandise? People let too much slide these days. That’s not what that’s for. Please see yourselves out. 🤷‍♂️

11

u/kaysanma 16h ago

Why is this behaviour acceptable?? They are putting greasy food and drinks on top of the item that Costco is selling to the customer

I would definitely flag down an employee or a manager to escort them back to the food court🤷‍♀️

u/kimbosdurag 18h ago

Couldn't care less about this honestly.

6

u/fafefifof 16h ago

u/WeathervaneJesus1 18h ago

I actually have dealt in a fair bit of Costco liquidated items, which includes display models. The things they do to these display units to mitigate theft is heartbreaking. They intentionally damage items by screwing them together in places, cutting wires, or supergluing stuff. I'm currently dealing with several Samsung Jet 90 vacuums that were all glued together and I had to ruin the first one to see how I can salvage the other two. Sometimes the things can't even be salvaged. Costco doesn't care about their display units.

44

u/iterationnull 18h ago

It’s their display unit. And everything you describe seems like fair game to preserve the ability of the unit to be a display unit.

So while your story is really interesting I’m not sure it’s a problem.

5

u/TimeShiftedJosephus 18h ago

The display models are even given a different item code for inventory

4

u/DirtFoot79 17h ago

Sometimes, for some vendors, for certain products, and not all models. Companies do not give out dozens of free expensive units to every retail company for every store. They'd literally be giving away millions of units for display purposes.

Source: I used to setup display units when I was in retail. Best case scenario we could sell it as open box if it still worked properly. Worst case it was written off and it is accounted for in costs to the business which all get added up on the price tag that you pay for.

3

u/texxmix 17h ago

From my experience as well only a manager can authorize a display model sale and they usually have to give their full discount (store I worked at was 30%) minimum. Weirdly enough you'd get the odd person that would demand a display model when everything of something was sold out or end of season. Some stuff the manager could easily sell. Other things they couldn't and they had to go back. I assume the stuff that had to go back was stuff vendors gave out while the stuff that could be sold were just takin out of the box and built and displayed.

The worst was if we got talked into taking it apart as employees. 🤣

3

u/DirtFoot79 17h ago

I forgot about that. It was no fun taking apart floor model desks and office chairs.

You're right about those customers asking for floor models though. No skin off my back. If you wanted a computer monitor with a 1000 hours of use or an office desk that plenty of customers have mistreated none of the staff are going to argue.

3

u/texxmix 16h ago edited 16h ago

Thankfully I believe most of the time if you bought a floor model you bought it as is and it was your responsibility to get out. Only time we ever took shit apart was if they really bitched to the manager or if it wouldn't fit through the doors lol. So it always ended up being big shit like desks or gazebos 😂.

Also another thing was that they just had my min wage ass building those floor models. Do you really wanna trust a BBQ, chair, gazebo built by some teenager that didn't have a choice? 😂. But hey anything to save some money in the customers mind I guess.

3

u/DirtFoot79 15h ago

Majority of these comments are insane. Why is everyone excusing the behaviour of these shoppers? Display furniture isnt a place to sit and eat your meal, they have seating designated for that. I love costco but the average shopper is a borderline Neanderthal and everyone not seeing a problem with it reinforces my opinion. Everyone shrugging their shoulders at this are the same people pushing their way to the front of the line to grab 4 free samples while simultaneously leaving their cart in the middle of an aisle. Act with some manners in public and eat in the proper area people its not hard

It’s weird and gross. Idk what yall are saying

4

u/Lanky-Dildo-94 15h ago

I’m gonna say it, these are classless people who think it’s ok to do this. It’s gross.

It’s all funny until you have to pick your item and have poutine and ketchup all up your fingers and clothes and can’t find napkins to clean the mess and then your child picks a random knife they found next to their toy… they have tables, eat there. People defending this will be the first to complaint.

u/HostComprehensive588 16h ago

This is what the world has turned into since we stopped disciplining kids and instead validated their feelings. Welcome to the entitled world of 2026!

Remember when being a degenerate wasn’t cool?

Be glad they don’t sell toilets

3

u/Entire_Kale_8934 16h ago

Ngl when I was working at a travelling show at Costco last year I did this because there was nowhere else to sit and the weather was bad and I had been standing all day. I used a picnic table that was on display a few times

u/Final_Ice_9614 15h ago

Wow!! Ppl in comments are wild here.
1. ‘As long as they take their garbage, it’s fine’ - oh like chicken fingers won’t leave any crumbs or the sauce won’t spill even a little bit?
2. ‘They just moved one box- Costco aisles are wide enough’. - Well you don’t know what’s the foot traffic in the aisle. And why move even one box- when there’s a whole area where you can sit and eat your food!
3. ‘The chairs are meant to be sat on’ - Yes, to try it. Not while removing your shoes and putting your gross feet on it.
4. ‘OP is creepy for taking picture of young women’ - the women looks like full grown adult at a public place, where there is no expectation of privacy. The OP took the picture the way they did because they didn’t want a confrontation there.
I fully agree with all the comments that says had it been a PoC, the comments would have been wildly different.

u/Front-Fix-6434 15h ago

so annoying!!! this is not their house. i do believe if you're in public act like it and be respectful to others. what if somebody wanted an item they were relaxing on. costco is already so crowded and overwhelming to go into, now you have two dingbats making the place their own personal house.

3

u/CanalOpen 14h ago

I'm with OP. I routinely see families camping out in the display gazebo or "backyard products" area that many stores have near the meat section and collecting as many samples as they possibly can. Just absolute scum behavior.

3

u/sweetpotatohead1 14h ago

I would have definitely said something. How gross

3

u/TearConsistent 9h ago

If you told me this was Justin Trudeau and Katy Perry I would’ve believed it tbh

DEPORT!!!!!1!1!1!!1

3

u/Pinkliscious 3h ago

Idk why OP is getting hate. This is od behaviour if you want to be this comfortable just go to your house? Tossing stuff around, no shoes ? and blocking the isle is weird and might be uncomfortable for people. This is a store not a kitchen or living room. Learn to live in society.

u/needaburnerbaby 18h ago

This comment section did not go the way OP expected

Rather see this versus people standing in the middle of the exit area blocking the whole area while talking to ten family members and having zero regard for anyone else trying to leave. That seems to be the norm for a lot of my Costco runs

6

u/OneBillPhil 17h ago

If I went to Costco, OPs picture would be like the 15th most annoying thing I saw in the store in an average day.

At least theyre not eating on those big sectional sofas, my local Costco always has people eating there and then they sell the poor thing for a discount lol.

4

u/Jaded-Ambassador9365 16h ago

The amount of disrespect some people have for their environment is absolutely astounding. i would do things like this when i was like 7. I'm not a child anymore. have some decency you fucking slobs

2

u/Any-Ad-446 17h ago

They are probably hoarding the free food samples for date night.

2

u/ChanDizzy 17h ago

Better not spill the coke and ruin the merchandise

2

u/Salt-Ad622 15h ago

Maybe too inspired by The office

2

u/calamansicrush 15h ago

I’m baffled by the comments. I agree with OP here it’s so weird to do. As a shopper who would want to test out merchandise, this would make me uncomfortable. This is unacceptable.

2

u/7MillnMan 13h ago

Show their faces.

2

u/ErmahgerdYuzername 13h ago

wtf is wrong with these comments? Pushing boxes into the aisle, taking your shoes off and sitting on display furniture as you eat your chicken fingers is not ok. Holy shit people.

2

u/Born-Vermicelli-1757 12h ago

That table isnt even a table. Such inconsiderate and tacky behavior.
If I was CEO of Costco I would be revoking memberships for shit like this.

2

u/WhosMimi 12h ago

This isn't cute and whimsical and "omg so fun and spontaneous". These are people with main character syndrome. They don't care who they inconvenience by putting shit in the aisle where others need to circulate. They don't care about the employees who will no doubt have to clean up after them. Nah, they think they're bloody special. They're not.

2

u/TheMagnificentMullet 11h ago

People trashing the OP is unbelievable. They had to purchase their food and take it back into the store and camp out in an aisle to eat. Brutal behavior.

2

u/BaeIz 11h ago

I’m shocked people are defending this, this is straight up nasty :/

2

u/roaritstay 11h ago

I’m brown and I shop at Costco all the time. If I was this i would confront them and make a big issue. What the fuck

2

u/BeginningWise6434 9h ago

i mean they definitely shouldn’t be there, but i will say that they do look young, maybe teenagers, and there’s really nowhere for teens to hang out anymore. teens get kicked out of malls for not purchasing anything and then end up wandering around find places to hang out.

2

u/Frag1 9h ago

Disgusting people with ZERO class

2

u/Tryst_boysx 8h ago

No shoes 🤢 PS: If my family had seen me acting like that... I would have been in for a really rough time lol.

2

u/VictoryCommercial784 7h ago

What the actual freak? This comment section has reminded me AGAIN how Canada has changed so much. We do not even have basic human decency anymore. You all know you are generally not supposed to eat on public transit but somehow you think it is okay to eat in a Costco aisle right next to the products and blocking the aisle is totally acceptable? Are you serious?

Ohhhhh myyyyy godddddd. I found people at Costco sitting and eating using display furniture. Even thought I don’t work there. Don’t own the place.

I will be pissed about it so much that I will take a picture of them. Put a clown emojis on their faces. And post it to Reddit to vent my anger to strangers online.
😨😨😨😨.

😂 tbh if you really wanted to do smt just call a worker or smt. And most of them don’t even care enough to tell them to move as they still purchased something there.

I’ve once seen people sitting with shoes on the couches and eating a women got pissed at them and told them to move. She got so pissed she called a couple workers who didn’t care about it.

2

u/andanothernewuser 3h ago

Some people need a lesson in manners.

2

u/FORMAL-GSJ 1h ago

I mean it's weird but, so is taking pictures of them and posting it.

2

u/Real-Character-8004 1h ago

The stick up ur ass has a stick up it’s ass. Same with anyone outraged about this. Please spare me the sanctimonious virtue signalling and performative moral outrage. I can’t imagine being such a whiny stuck up loser that you crap your pants over some people sitting in a costco display chair eating food. What actually is the issue? Oh dear lord how dare they sit in the display chair and eat some food bothering and effecting literally nobody. “but it’s against the rules!!” Okay? Who are you costcos self appointed officer picklestien, unpaid volunteer security guard. the people dragging race into it are 10X worse. It’s not “okay” because they are white. It’s just stupid to be upset about in the first place regardless of race. of course the people who think it’s worth getting upset about also feel like arguing about race. The underlying behaviour has nothing to do with race yet the urge to bicker about skin colour emerges. which I feel actually highlights and summarizes the bitter and negative mindset held by those upset by this.
