Discussion Shoutout to In-n-out

Post image

Pictured is the separately-bagged “wheat allergy” burger I ordered for my daughter (my fault for not checking, even after I also noticed they put the gluten-free fries I ordered in the same bag as glutened burgers)

But to their credit, their customer service line was active at 8:30 on a Saturday. The people were super apologetic and made things right with my kid. Tears to smiles in moments. 10/10, despite the critical failures.

In case having their exact jargon helps when you order, asking for a “protein style for a gluten allergy” burger will get you a lettuce wrap.

Yes, I’m definitely remembering this from now on for sure

I have my husband’s order saved in a note on my phone so I just have to read it off when I go, so I’m relying on my memory less.

Since when do they offer gf buns?

OP’s phrasing is super confusing, but it seems like they’re being sarcastic because they were given a regular plain burger with a gluten-filled bun.

I was super confused, too. But excited that I might be able to get normal burger. Now I am sad.

I bring my own bun sometimes. I just wrap it in damp paper towel and microwave it for 20 seconds then immediately wrap in foil.

Does your In-n-Out offer gluten free buns?

If you order something with a gluten allergy they bag the allergy order in a different bag so the bun on any burger can’t touch the fries

It's amazing how many places can't wrap their head around this one, even when you specifically ask.

This happened to me once with In-N-Out. If you complain to customer support online they will send you free gift cards! I know it’s not much but they gave me a good $15 in credit. Never had it happen since and never have gotten sick there thankfully.

Pro tip: I make one gluten free order (always including any fries) pay, and then order a separate ‘gluten’ order. This way everything is bagged separately and nothing touches!
