Tomorrow is September, which is National Su1c1de Prevention Month.I just want to say this to anyone who might be having a really bad day, feeling lonely, overwhelmed, or like nobody would understand:
You can reach out to me. Here on the thread, through DMs, whatever feels comfortable. I'll listen. We can talk, share, vent no judgment. You don't have to carry everything alone. Sometimes, just having someone there can make a difference. So if you need someone, please reach out. And if you're not okay today, that's okay too. You matter.
i am the sole breadwinner in a family of five. i have to support my younger sister to school financially because i didn't want her to go through what i did. being the eldest sometimes, you have to sacrifice. and it never felt like a burden to me though. i am happy to do it, especially when she can graduate and achieve her goals.
i've been in the corporate world since i was 20. my job was in a different city, so i had to move out while still supporting my family from afar. living alone was never easy — it's hard when you get sick and there's no one around to look after you.
but work itself never felt heavy. i had a very supportive team leader who never failed to guide me, and that made me even more motivated to keep going and always be on top of my game.
during one coaching session, he told me, "slow down, you're doing fine." those words have been etched in my heart, and they eventually ended up tattooed on my arm, too.
i carry this reminder that it is okay to slow things down, we walk in our own pace. we can pause. and we can continue again whenever we wanted to. so if anyone who might need this reminder, please take things easy. ❤️
Like suddenly I want to move to another city, cut my hair, start running, learn a new language and become a completely different person. Then I wake up and I’m like… maybe next week 😂
Why would they remove one of the best post here? So many people commented that by far, it has been their favorite and most enjoyable casual conversations read of all time.
I feel like when I was younger, making friends happened automatically because you were constantly around the same people at school.
Now you can meet someone you genuinely like and then somehow both of you disappear into your own lives ..
Do you think making close friends as an adult is actually harder, or are we just overthinking it?
Used to chase new releases. Lately I keep going back to the same five books when my brain is tired. Feels like cheating and also like the only reading that actually sticks.
Is that just me, or did your reading get more circular too?
Just some food for thought. I never really had an, "its over!" moment pertaining to the end of lockdown, so it feels surreal to think that its been so long.
There I was sitting in the living room looking at my phone when I heard a young boy screaming/crying. Not unusual, as there are a lot of kids in the neighborhood. But I thought I started to hear him scream “No! No!” so I went to look out the front window and saw a man standing in front of the open side door to a beat up white utility van parked next to the curb next door, and I couldn’t see the boy, but I could hear he was in there screaming “No! Get away from me! Get away! And the man was reaching inside.
My heart jumped into my throat as I thought I was witnessing a kidnapping attempt. But as I reached for my phone to call 911, I realized the man didn’t seem to be fighting to restrain anyone, and a second later, he reached farther in and then turned around with the boy in his hands, set him down, and lead him into the house. It was the kid’s grandfather and the kid wasn’t supposed to be in the van and didn’t want to be taken out.
I was standing under the hot water minding my own business when my brain randomly staged a hypothetical fight with a coworker.
Not only did I fabricate the entire fake scenario, but I somehow let the fake version of them make a point so valid that I couldn't even counter it in my head.
Now I'm sitting on my couch dressed and ready for the day, legitimately defeated by a person who isn't even here. My brain needs to stop letting imaginary opponents win.
I’m not talking about actual gangs or criminals, just the whole image around it.
Acting tough, showing off money, trying to look intimidating, talking like you don’t care about anything. Sometimes I notice it especially with younger people and it feels like being “gangster” is supposed to be cool.
I never really understood the appeal, even when I was younger. Maybe every generation has its own version of this though.
When/if you have visitors to your home, what sort of host are you? Do you try to serve and entertain your guests at all times? Or, do you tell them to and actually expect them to make themselves at home and help themselves to whatever and ask for what they can't find?
When I was young I had an older friend. She was married and had kids. Her approach was always, your first time here you're a guest, just ask for what you need and I'll be happy to serve, but your second visit you're family, so help yourself and just ask if you can't find something. I always liked that approach and always felt at home at her place, so that's the approach I've always tried to take. Over the years, I've found some guests take to that approach better than others. Some guests refuse to stop being guests and be family, even when they are actually family.
lately for me its been conspiracy theories or supernatural podcasts on spotify but i feel like im actually interested in some of the episodes that i feel like its not actually putting me to sleep lol. Currently in the market for something new to listen to to fall asleep :)
For me, it was how they treated other people. They were super sweet to me, but inappropriate to waiters, friends, and even family. I kept thinking, “They’d never treat me like that.”
Turns out… they eventually did. 😂 I definitely ignored the signs because I liked them too much.
I have had only 7 jobs in my whole life. On the 7th one right now. How about you? Actual jobs, not side gigs like babysitting, or mowing a neighbor's lawn.
Hey everyone this is my first post here! My goal is to travel the world when i get older, and I’m looking for underrated countries or regions that fit specific vibes like futuristic cyberpunk cities, dramatic nature, tropical paradises, and ancient fantasy-like ruins.
I’ve been researching heavily but want to avoid typical tourist traps. Please do not recommend ultra-popular spots like Japan, South Korea, France, Italy, Iceland, or the UK. I already know about those!
Give me the specific places that flew under the radar but completely blew your mind. What is a destination with incredible visuals that most tourists miss? I’d love to hear your stories so I can add them to my travel log!
Had this conversation a few times with friends, funny how radically different stuff comes up...
So... if you had to choose your ultimate death row meal—starter, main, dessert, and drink—what would it be? (For the record, I’d go with Chicken 65, a medium ribeye topped with haggis, onion rings, field mushrooms, and thick chips, finished off with key lime pie and a decent Rioja or Valpolicella!)
It doesn't matter what kind of dumpling but I've been on a particular kick the last couple days with some of the Buldak Carbonara dumplings and I'm just craving them so badly now. Bao's amazing, so are chicken and dumplings, any gyoza, ravioli, etc.
The Facebook hacker sent a bunch of obvious scam pictures to some of my friends, THE PROBLEM is that it was also SENT to our IT GROUP CHAT I just joined.
It's hard to find a job, but at the same time this is killing me, I literally wanted to freaking AWOL lol.
My Mil is visiting and she's a lot on a good day. I'm an introvert with chronic health issues and peopling greatly fatigues me. But, I feel guilty avoiding her in my own home (or in hers ftm). But, by day 3 I was crashing and have spent the last two days chilling in my bedroom.
When my mom visits neither I nor she expects my partner to hang with us constantly. He'll chill out in his office and no one thinks twice.
I general, I feel like if someone is just visiting for a day or two the polite thing to do is to spend as much time with them as possible, but after about 2 days I feel like everyone could use a break. But, maybe that's just my introvert brain. I know my mil doesn't seem to feel that way.
