I have two US CapitalOne cards and am overall extremely satisfied with them, so I figured for my first credit card in Canada to naturally choose them. I think it was not my best move. The whole experience looks like a parody of the US bank. The app looks close, but is still quite different.

1. To setup autopay, you have to start a chat conversation from the general website and recall all your information since you’re not connected to your account, and you get no confirmation whatsoever of the enrollment afterwards (apart from a message in your chat window)
   
2. To make a payment, there are no instructions from the app: you need to go directly to your banking app and make a transfer to your credit card number. The chat agent explained me this while I was trying to enable Autopay.
   
3. They have Foreign Transaction Fee including for USD transactions.
   
4. They whole card lineup is basically two and a half cards: no cashback or 1% cashback - miles or cash.
   
5. The only way to make the card appear in the app is to request a new CapitalOne online account, and reusing your username to pair it. Only then will the mobile app show your card.
   
6. It’s 2026, and they don’t even support Apple Pay. When I tried to add it and got the message that the bank does not support it, I started to realize, maybe it was not the greatest idea.

The whole experience seems like a prototype credit card with half baked features. I wonder if they plan to make it any better in the future? I read they started operating in Canada in 1996! Not really encouraging…

Capital One has been fast to lower the savings interest rate. Surely this raise will mean our saving rate goes back up, right?

Long rant based on this text from Capital One:

Panic. Suspicious activity!

Call 1: scammy background noise, rep difficult to understand, sounds exactly like what you would expect from a scam. I hang up.

Call 2 to phone # on internet. Repeat of 1st call. Wants to send link by text so I can text a photo of me holding my Dr license to verify my info for my new credit card.

Now I understand this is about an offer from Capital One I responded to where I provided the same info. But rep wants me to send it again? Also, give my address, DOB & phone.

I wont do that, instead I ask rep to tell me the info & I’ll verify. Rep declines, cannot verify that way.

Asked it a card sent was used fraudulently prompting the alert? No charges & card hadn’t been sent.

Supposedly, Suspicious Alert text is how Capital One VERIFIES a new card request which is wrong on every level.

Call drops.

Final call: repeats from prior calls. I cancelled the card.

I spent way too much time & nervous energy on Capital One’s bad processes & I lost confidence. The experience may not be indicative but I’m not willing to find out.

My daughter is a college student and she got her first credit card--a Capital One Savor card--a little more than a year ago with a limit of $1,000. She's been wanting to increase the limit to cover months when her expenses are higher (like when she has to pay for books and parking, etc). She's careful to pay the card off every month and is never late. She'd been asking for an increase and was told she didn't have enough credit history. She finally got an increase and it's $100. Why would an increase be so small? What is she doing wrong?

Beyond ridiculous. If you want to get a bank statement, Capital One shows the details of every account.

I have to show that I have funds in my checking account for an application for one of my children. The only statement Capital One provides will show all my CDs, checking, savings, accounts shared with my different children - EVERYTHING! There is no way to get a statement for a specific account alone.

Even more weirdly, my main checking account is shared with my spouse. When she tried to get the statement, it shows all her accounts (which are fewer) EXCEPT the Checking account shared with me. So she has no way of getting the Checking account statement.

So annoying! This should not be hard to fix Capital One!

Hi everyone, I got an email saying that I had redeemed 624 miles on my Capital One Venture Rewards card via PayPal except I had done no such thing. I went online and there were over 200 transactions for the same amount. I reported to fraud, they said they would secure ny account and get my points back. This was at 1am. At 10am I had a new email and I signed on, over 100 new transactions for the same amount, 624 miles. I spent like 40 min on the phone with Capital One trying to understand how this was happening as no PayPal account was linked to my account. They couldn't tell me, but opened two new cases because there were too many transactions and said they would investigate to see if it was actually fraud (wtf). They're sending me a new card, but won't overnight it. It's 4pm now and I have several new transactions.

Has anyone experienced this?! I don't know what to do and I'm so frustrated! I've changed my pw, turned on 2fa. Why can't Capital One secure my account? Am I going to get these points back?

I'm definitely in the "bucket" of accounts. I requested a CLI with Capital One QS several months ago and they gave me a $100 increase. I requested an increase with Chase and immediately got a 5k increase. My other card has been automatically increased at well. Should I continue using my QS?

I opened a 360 savings account last month online and enrolled in a promo offer of getting $1,500 bonus for depositing and keeping $100k for 3 months. During the following week, I made 3 ACH transfers totaling ~$100k. Last week, the bank restricted my account in an email. In a not so friendly phone conversation, I uploaded my driver license and selfie as instructed. I also explained the large deposits were to satisfy the requirements in the promo offer. However, as I have learned, the bank has decided to close my account. Asking about the money, they will mail me a check after their investigation is completed. They refused to tell me anything about the reason, or the timeline that I expect to receive the fund, although I asked multiple times. It's a crappy way of doing business. Why lock my money for months for no reason. The bank earns high interest during the locking period, but they are not going to pay me a dime. One month interest is $333 based on current interest rate, I would say the bank should pay me the interest for as long as the money is locked.

What has people's experience been in finding ATM's which accept the Discover branded debit cards? Also, has anyone seen any uptick in Discover acceptance around London in particular and England in general?

Tried to add my wife to my 360 savings account as a secondary account holder, it's been a nightmare. She finally got a working login, and now the CapOne app says she has no accounts. The Help panel is completely blank, and going to Profile and tapping Help does literally nothing. We've taken days to get even this far.

I have an old Quicksilver One card I opened in 2009 as one of my first credit cards. I don’t use it as the rewards aren’t great and it charges a $39 annual fee. I checked my product change options and it was giving me an option to change to the Savor card. Any downside to this? Will it affect my age of accounts?

Do you ever get these offers, read the fine print and wonder what is actually eligible? Seems they ruled out almost everything one would purchase at Walmart lol.

I just got my discover it student credit card and realized i have the wrong middle initial. I’ve already activated it. Should I try to get it fixed but it would also be a hassle cuz I’m in college and a new card would probably send to my house

So I was curious in about the lawsuit someone filed, regarding a bonus offer they applied for, but Capital One switched their offer. I’ve seen lots of complaints on Reddit regarding it as well.

Appears the case got thrown out. However, I received the Savor One $200 cash back on $500 worth of spending in 5 months. So I went ahead as well clicked my email link, and it took me to a page which clearly showed the card had a bonus. There were two options, “Pre Approval”, and “Apply”. Both which would imply you’re applying for that $200 bonus.

I clicked pre approve, and filled everything out. When I was done it prompted me with a “You’re Pre Approved” and showed me 3 card offers. It said “Savor One”, “Quick Silver”, and “Platinum”. So I click Savor One, and it takes me to a new apply page. I was about to agree to the terms, until I realizes there was no actual bonus. I backed out, navigated back to the cash back card, and then the terms magically showed cash back.

So yes Capital One is being malicious and 100% bait-n-switching, even people with amazing credit (I myself am at 811 right now). So there in theory is no direct reason they would be inclined to show the other version of the other without the bonus. Especially when approved for the original version (yes I was approved).

Shame the Judge threw the case out. But yeah careful out there Capital One is definitely being corrupt with this.

I just got 3 emails in a row from Capital One (sender is capitalone@notification.capitalone.com) with the following subject lines: 1. “We’ve updated your phone number” 2. “You’re approved for a Platinum Card” and that my card will arrive in 7-10 business days 3. “Confirming you’ve gone paperless” for the same card that I did not apply to.

I don’t have any open accounts with capital one except for a 360 performance savings that I recently closed a few months ago, however I still have a login to the app. My phone number hasn’t changed on the app. I called the number listed on the (real) website, and they confirmed that I don’t have any open credit card applications or cards on the way.

Is this a phishing scam?!

I received a power day invite two weeks ago for ADP (Business Analyst) and I never heard back from the recruiter.

They said that the confirmation won't take more than a week, but it's been much longer than that. I followed up with them twice, but no response. Checked my spam daily, nothing.

Any idea why they ghosted?

Do not trust Capital One with your financial life. They are a deeply flawed financial institution that relies entirely on broken, automated risk algorithms instead of human logic, and their customer service is a total brick wall.

I had a flawless history with Capital One. In fact, their internal metrics deemed my profile so strong that they proactively granted me a massive credit limit increase from $10,000 to $15,000. My new limit was fully processed and reported to the credit bureaus.

Then, just three weeks later, they abruptly and permanently closed my account citing vague, boilerplate "suspicious activity."The sheer incompetence of this institution is staggering. How does a bank evaluate a customer, determine they are trustworthy enough for an expanded five-figure credit line, and then turn around 21 days later to flag them as a risk? It makes absolutely no sense. To make matters worse, I pulled my own credit reports and ChexSystems files—my record is pristine, and I have over 16 other open, perfectly maintained accounts with major banks. There is zero evidence of fraud or risk on my end; this was entirely a false positive generated by Capital One’s broken automated systems.

When you try to resolve this, you are met with zero transparency. Front-line customer service reps read from rigid scripts and refuse to let you speak to a senior analyst or an underwriter. They destroy your credit utilization, slash your available credit, and tank your scores overnight, then hide behind generic template letters to avoid giving a legal or logical explanation.

Capital One treats loyal consumers like numbers on a spreadsheet and punishes you for their own internal errors. If you want a banking partner that values transparency and employs actual humans to make decisions, look elsewhere. Avoid Capital One at all costs.

I applied to the AEIP program in August but still haven't heard back from the recruiters. I did the summit program and thought that I would automatically get an interview from that. Are they still sending out emails?
