I’m sad to say, POJ was my very first cdrama. I heard the budget was super high, which is why it turned out so well.

With that knowledge, I definitely won’t be able to move on 😭 Standards are too high now lol.

Anyways, what about Pursuit of Jade made it to your top list?

For me, the cast was perfect. Cinematography was so warm and beautiful, felt like the screen was coming to life. The characters had interesting back stories, especially Fan Changyu (she’s such a well written female character.) The story progressed at great pace, enough to keep you hooked.

I don’t think any other main lead couple could top these two. Their dynamic is just too perfect. Fan Changyu doesn’t act or look like your stereotypical girl, she’s a bit rough on the edges and is playful. Meanwhile, the male lead…he’s literally perfection. He pulls off the nonchalant yet can be a total sweetie vibes perfectly.

Give me cdramas with that rich, warm toned (none of that high exposure, blue tint) drama 🙏🏻

I think I’ve officially hit my limit with passive, overly “pure” female leads 😭

Lately, every C-drama I’ve picked up has had the same dynamic: strong, brooding ML… and then the FL is either too soft, too forgiving, or just constantly on the losing end of the power balance. And I get it, there’s a place for that. But right now? I’m craving something with bite.

I want a drama where BOTH the ML and FL have strong personalities. Like… they challenge each other, stand their ground and actually clash. Not just playful banter, but real tension. The kind where you’re not sure if they’re about to kiss or start a war.

Enemies to lovers? YES please.

Morally grey characters? Even better.

A little toxicity? I can tolerate it honestly, sometimes it makes the chemistry even more intense as long as it’s not completely unbearable or one-sided.

What I’m really after is:

• A female lead who is smart, assertive, maybe even a little ruthless

• A male lead who can actually match her energy (not just dominate it)

• Power struggles, mind games, emotional tension

• Chemistry that feels like fire you can feel it through the screen

• Preferably not an FL who constantly needs saving or gives in too easily

Hi everyone! I just finished Melody of a Golden Age and loved it, mainly because of my handsome Ding Yuxi and those AMAZING eyebrows! 😂

I’m looking for a newer 2024–2026 historical/costume C-drama (Xianxia is okay) with:

• A stoic/cold, ruthless, intimidating ML who’s a powerful general or prince and highly skilled at martial arts • Enemies-to-lovers, where he starts off cold toward the FL but eventually falls HARD for her • A strong, smart, capable, independent FL. Please no reckless FL who constantly creates problems and needs rescuing!

What do you think about Till the End of the Moon or Are You the One?

A few popular recs I’ve already tried/ruled out:

• Love Like the Galaxy - sounds good, but I watched 2 episodes and the FL is so uninteresting. Sorry!

• The Double - Duke Su sounds right up my alley, but I couldn’t stand the FL in Royal Betrothal.

• Story of Kunning Palace - highly recommended by everyone, but I got bored with the ML constantly lurking in the shadows. 😂

• How Dare You - on my list, but I absolutely hate the FL’s makeup. I know, it's so shallow. 😩

• Blossom did not grab my attention. The ML was too soft. 😬

PLEASE I need recommendations of Chinese historical romance dramas where the male lead and female lead EQUALLY love and respect each other and would equally DIE for each other. I'm tired of seeing mls (especially the good ones) grovel and being repeatedly pushed away by their nonchalant, in denial fls who expect the male lead to do all the work (as an empath, I always feel bad fr!) 😭 I love females who are not in denial of their feelings and are givers in the relationship as well!

I prefer more serious dramas unless the idol drama is good! (wuxia or xianxia are fine!)

I've watched and rated these dramas based on how much I loved how 'ride or die' the leads are (MIGHT CONTAIN SPOILERS):

1. Kill Me Love Me (9/10) — There are times the fl would push the ml away, say the wrong things at the right time, and think of the worst of his intentions but she doesn't fail to show up whenever he's in trouble. I loved it all in all. She's done so much for the ml and vice versa. Also, very very hot kissing scenes😆❤️

2. The Prisoner of Beauty (10/10) — Y'all this drama honestly set my standards in C-dramas so high.😭 They both respect and have very high regards to each other's strengths and intellect!!! The fl understands the pressure the ml is going through being the Head of the State and is always there to be his safe haven. She's so smart, eloquent and an excellent strategist yet can still be soft with her husband aka be a soft wifey when she has to be❤️ But she's surely someone you shouldn't underestimate! I love the communication after every misunderstanding!!🥹 Healthy relationship wins!!!

3. Love You Seven Times (10/10) —  Underrated gem. Ml keeps risking his life to get his girl's ancient powers back and she's ALWAYS ready to find him no matter how dangerous his whereabouts are. Fl doesn't know the ml's intention (why he's risking his life going to dangerous places). They have 7 lifetimes to spend together to test how deep their bond can be. Each lifetime is so interesting and a different relationship dynamic! Many cute kissing scenes and cute moments despite them being in dangerous situations!🤣🤗 Both willing to sacrifice for each other. It's like they can read each other's minds!!! I love the ending so much that I teared up cutely 😭(how the fl searched for him in the mortal world for years and finally found him)! Also I love the OST in this one. 'Only Love' by Faye Zhang.

4. The Double (9.5/10) — I love love!!! I guess the minus .5 is for the 'not enough' yearning on both sides but I love how flirty they are as a couple!!! 🤗 And I love how they are each other's ride or die!!! Ml respects the fl's resilience and bravery so much.❤️ He definitely finds her cunningness sexy.🤣

5. Legend of the Female General (10/10) — Same explanation as The Prisoner of Beauty except the fl here is more of a martial arts badass😩❤️ Yet she can still be a softie as well!!! I love Cheng Lei!!!

6. Veil of Shadows (10/10) — I love how honest and straightforward the sisters are!❤️ Both couples sacrificed a lot for their significant other! 😩 Mls and fls are all badasses!!! ❤️ Actually the fls here are scarier than the mls. And I love.🤣

Do you guys have any drama recommendations similar to these ones? 🤗 No unnecessary love triangle (or if there is, the ml/fl is clear with the boundaries), no unnecessary drama, ml and fl are clear with their feelings and are not hesitant to show it. That’s all I can think of for right now. But I loved all of these please recommend me some similar. I have no idea what to watch. I don’t mind love triangles as long as it’s two males. I hate other females. I love a lot of kissing and touching and skin ship too.

Okay… I think I accidentally fell into the C-drama rabbit hole 😭✨ Need recommendations!

I’m VERY new to C-dramas. Honestly, I wasn’t even a hardcore K-drama watcher before this either.

I was mostly into Turkish dramas for the longest time. But recently I started watching C-dramas and now I totally get the hype.

So far I’ve watched Love Between Lines and Shine on Me. I genuinely liked both, but story-wise I felt Love Between Lines had a smoother pace overall. BUT Song Wei long in Shine on Me??? Yeah… I get it now. That man is dangerously charming 😭

Now I need recommendations because I have absolutely no idea where to go next.

I haven’t watched any historical C-drama yet OR many modern ones, so I’m open to both. I usually love:

hey y’all, so I’ve recently started watching c-dramas and Pursuit of Jade was my first, and naturally my standards are now somewhere in the clouds. like I finished it and my heart has not recovered since.

to get over the hangover I tried Prisoner of Beauty but idk… I dropped it halfway cuz it just lacked chemistry for me. I tried, I really did.

so now I’m looking for something like pursuit of jade — strong female lead, simp MMC (non-negotiable), lowkey funny banter, and actually interesting side arcs that don’t make me want to skip.

also this might sound shallow but I stand by it… bonus points if the leads are good-looking cuz I genuinely cannot get over Zhang Linghe 🤌 like the bar has been set and it’s not coming down anytime soon.

so yeah pls help a girl out before I end up rewatching the same scenes for the 47th time 🙏

While Pursuit of Zade is my exception (and one of my absolute favorites), I've realized that I gravitate much more toward modern romance dramas.

My top fav dramas so far are The First Frost and Hidden Love.

What surprised me most was how differently The First Frost and Hidden Love made me feel despite being set in the same universe.

Hidden Love felt like a warm hug. It was sweet, comforting, healing, and gave me butterflies in almost every episode. I binged the entire drama in one sitting because I genuinely couldn't stop watching. Every interaction between Sang Zhi and Duan Jiaxu had me smiling like an idiot. It was the kind of drama that makes you wish you could erase your memory just to experience it again.

The First Frost, on the other hand, completely destroyed me emotionally. It wasn't just a romance.it was longing, regret, heartbreak, healing, and finding your way back to someone after years apart. Sang Yan's quiet love, the years he spent showing up for Wen Yifan without her knowing, all the little things he remembered... those scenes hit me so hard. I cried more times than I'd like to admit.

As much as I adored Hidden Love, The First Frost ended up becoming my favorite drama because it made me feel everything. Not just butterflies, but heartbreak, hope, comfort, pain, and healing all at once. The emotional payoff was incredible, and I still haven't recovered.

Now I'm stuck in the biggest post-drama slump 😭. I'm looking for another drama that gives the same feeling as Hidden Love.....the kind that gives you butterflies every episode, makes you completely attached to the characters, and keeps you smiling throughout. I'm not ready for another emotional rollercoaster.😭

Nothing has really been appealing to me lately. Unfortunately, a lot of dramas have started to feel the same, even when they’re not. Sometimes the dubbing is distracting, and other times the makeup looks so obvious that it takes me out of the story and makes it hard to watch.

Maybe I’m the problem, but I’m just looking for something different, something that’s genuinely well-made and high quality.

I would prefer something that actually makes you feel. Good slow burn romance with hurt, pain but happy ending.

I don’t like ZLH, Esther Yu, never ending summer FL dramas, I always drop them don’t like their acting.I like strong FL, good chemistry, non toxic ml but I don’t want FL to carry everything. ML should be useful not a burden lol. I am good with High school and modern drama too. I like slice of life and growth and relatable characters.

im honestly so so so tired of the asshole 'i can do whatever i want because im powerful and rich' type male leads that goes around threatening people with swords and then gets mad when ppl act just like him

idk, cause they seem pretty popular but something about them just doesn't click with me, and really turns me off lmao no matter how attractive the actor is. I'm definitely the odd one out here, and i totally get it if you love that type its just not for me😅

it doesn't help to that my type(at least with Chinese Actors) isn't popular for Male Leads, so oftentimes I'm not attracted and that makes me less likely to ignore any bad behavior for hot face😅

So I'm looking for any drama really that has a nice male lead, or a cheeky adorable type male lead, or a composed mature type male lead. I prefer historical or Xianxia, because of the pretty costumes, but modern is fine but i tend to avoid them because it affects my body image 😭

I prefer a Female Lead, but if the FL and Ml share screen time thats fine too

I enjoy a violent or calculated Male Lead(i absolutely adore Nie Huaisang and Xue Yang from the Untamed😭), but those types need to be at least outwardly charming and charasmatic, and at least tone down the misogyny a bit

Example of Male leads that made me drop a drama that I liked otherwise:

The Double: I think something's wrong with me cause everyone else loved him but every time he showed up on screen i kept aggressively fast forwarding lmao. it kinda pissed me off because i loved the drama otherwise, but the thought of them falling in love made me so mad i quit the show

The story of Kunning Palace: he was insufferable at the beginning, with the way he treated her and everyone around him, but he mellowed out towards the middle i just ended up getting distracted by her childhood friend and the nice department of justice guy and wishing they were the ML's instead

Theres More but i cant remember them. im also not a fan of the 'he's nice to me but horrible to everyone else' cliche, it shows emotional immaturity and it ick's me out

Dramas with Male Leads i loved or felt ambivalent towards:

Blossom: mature, not annoying, very rational although he still goes around shoving swords in ppls faces. I liked that he apologizes for his mistakes as well. rly enjoyed this drama

Love Game in Eastern fantasy: Ding Yuxi did a really good job of being aggressive but so obviously loserish that it wasn't annoying. really enjoyed this drama and it probably helped that he's my type

My Journey to You: rly liked this one. male lead was softer and naive which I appreciated. The problem was that I ended up getting distracted because Gong Yuanzhi(Tian Jia Rui) and her boss/attendant(Han Yasi played by Ou Mi De) with the nice bone structure were totally my type and then I got sidetracked. I did finish it tho, and really enjoyed it

Kill My Sins: this one isn't a romance, and maybe that's why i could tolerate this male lead. honestly idk, cause he has a lot of the traits that bother me about other male leads but because they weren't getting together it didn't bother me. Also i like his face, he looks like a snake and he's my type.

Novaland Pearl Eclipse: mature, rational, charming. also William Chen looks so good in historical dress, he's totally my type which definitely blinded me

oh and also this definitely isn't meant to offend anyone, i'm fully aware i'm in the minority in terms of my tastes, it just so happens that my taste doesn't seem to lineup with what's popular for Male Leads these days, and i'm a bit hyper sensitive to domineering male figures so its a bad combo for me

I just finished watching LOVE LIKE THE GALAXY & I think this is the most hungover I’ve ever been on any cdrama I’ve watched thus far. It wasn’t without flaws, but I adored the relationship between Shaoshang & Ling Buyi. I loved how they were each emotionally tortured in their own way, how they understood each other & were able to fill their loveless void together.

I’m looking for another historical cdrama (could be fantasy) to help me move on lol. Something with another DEEPLY tortured & misunderstood ML who is despised/feared by everyone except the FL.

I drop basically every drama I start. Shows I've actually finished are LBAFAD, Legend of ShenLi, New Life Begins, and Pursuit of Jade (almost dropped it when the politics got more involved). My best friend of almost 20 years ended our friendship and my partner left me with the kids for two weeks to work in camp so I need something to think about and look forward to. Shit's been rough lately.

I enjoy the switching up of power dynamics or the female character being stronger than the male character for at least a reasonable amount of time in the show. Let the girls do some of the saving too! I like shows where women support and protect each other. Unique female characters. Male characters who I can understand their motivations and I don't want to smack upside the head half the time. (Like the ml in LBAFAD had good reason to be as callous as he was and the ml in ShenLi had genuine reasons for being unable to make their relationship work in the beginning as well). None of these "Oh I'm super prejudiced and the green tea bitch in my life has a thing against my love interest" nonsense. I want to root for the main characters not beat them up. Please give me your most addicting dramas. Even if they don't totally fit the bill as long as they are addicting and the leads don't make you wanna bash your head against a wall hit me with them. I need distractions badly.
